@49

So I called someone a fanboy, who first called me a fanboy, and that makes me more of a fanboy? K.

Rest of your post:

You did use the word pedantic, will give you credit there. Rest of it is useless drivel. Sorry it is not a "new" era. I don't have to set down and take my medicine. The pandering to the console kiddies will come to an end soon. The market is becoming so saturated with mediocre games from so many companies, with the giant developmental costs for next gen console games just a few flops can put even major studios into financial trouble. Nearly all innovation happens on PC games. Consoles get the same safe sequel and ripoffs over and over again.

It is not a new "Era" It is 1995 all over again. The consoles will again fall far behind the PC in terms of performance soon and big companies will stop developing for the money pits the consoles become, as the manufacturers continue to try and extend there consoles life's longer and longer to try and recoup the huge loses they incur from development.

Just because Oblivion was a mildly popular game (that didn't top Morrowinds sales look for yourself) does not mean they can make a Fallout a Oblivion with gunz(lol) and get away with it without a massive backlash.

I wonder how happy you people would be if Beth announced tomorrow ES5 was coming out, but it was going to be JRPG FF clone with Turn based battles. I assume you would feel the same way I feel when I am told that my turn based tactical Dialogue based RPG was being turned into a half rate shooter.

If they want to make a Sequel, great make one. If they want to change what the game is then call it something else and let fallout die with some respect.

All I got from this whole spew from Todd is that Fallout 3 is to Fallout 1 as Superman Returns is to Superman 1 and Batman Begins is to Batman 1.

That pretty much sums up all of my expectations for the game. (psst--they're low)

Man, lots of bitching on this thread. Sad. I'll summarize:
"PCs are better! PC gamers aren't whiny 14-year-olds!"

"Yes, some of them are."

"..."

Seriously, the PC gamer community has been shrinking while the console community has been growing. I always considered myself a PC "hardcore" gamer, but lately it's been more expensive to keep my PC up to spec than to buy a next-gen console and a slew of games, so I've gone that route instead. Are many (perhaps more) of the online gamers there 12-year-old Halo dicks? Sure. But there's an RPG niche crowd, just like on the PC. I don't think it makes any sense to argue over which group is bigger -- the point is both platforms have an audience, so it makes the most fiscal sense to cater to both. You don't *have* to dumb down a product for consoles -- look at Battle for Middle Earth II. It was never a "hard core" RTS, but it's still fun on both platforms. No, there's no SupCom for consoles, but an RTS doesn't have to be as deep as SupCom to be good.

On FO3, I'm just going to keep my powder dry. They *could* fuck it up and make it real time, but there's no reason right now to think that's a likely course of action. I'm hoping for a turn/real-time hybrid with an adjustable battle speed, along the lines of FFXII -- the action doesn't pause indefinitely, but you have time to think between actions, and *you* pick how long that time is. I loved FO1 and 2, but sometimes a single battle took me half an hour to get "just right". I wouldn't miss that aspect.

My big fear is that both the dialog will be piss and the NPC models will look like they have downs just like in Oblivion.

I had a blast with Oblivion regardless, but seriously both the dialog and the NPC were pathetic. Napoleon Dynamite could have created better.

Never having played fallout can i just say one thing, the crazy westboro church sounding idiot who actually had the audacity to threaten some sort of payback if a developer didnt bring out a game that suits him and his equally crazy zealots as someone pointed out, really needs to take a reality check. So listen here you complete and utter lunatic...

1. Its a freaking game, let me re-iterate this again ITS A FREAKING GAME

2. Who the hell are you but some basement dwelling cretin to tell a company like Bethesda what they can or cant do with a game that they created.. the freaking nerve of you is hilarious especially the threat.. a bunch of whiney nerds.. yeah what a difference you and your intaweb fweinds will make???

3. Have you any idea of the costs to develop a game these days? so if bethesda decide to make an RPG set in a apocalyptic world it will be because they are a buisness and a buisness needs to make money and appealing to the largest common denominator is sound buisness sense espicially considering how much money oblivion made so please take you crybaby zealot attitude and wise up, grow up and take a break form video gaming in general cause mate your 1 step away from crazy!
