It's not uncommon for Americans to wait for Japanese games and systems. Heck, we still don't have any localized version of Bleach: Heat the Soul. Nor do we have other system colors, or that GPS accessory .... need we go on?
Well, looks like Japan can finally understand the pains of localization delays. Nearly two years since its original release, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories is heading to Japan. The revolutionary handheld title will receive Japan's most restrictive rating of Z and will be on Japanese store shelves on 7/26.
With such a long lead-time for the title, one has to question: how much longer will the Japanese have to wait for Vice City Stories?

GTA game won't sell in Japan. It's just like how Dragon Quest game won't sell in US.

And judging by that picture up there, one of the most contentious localization aspects to the Japanese version of GTA:LCS was adding a TAIL to the box, hehe!
Seriously, how pissed off must some Japanese PSP fanboys be about having to wait that long for that game... I hope this isn't an indication as to how long the camera & GPS will take to officially arrive in North America.

Well, I think anyone here in Japan who is a "fanboy" and wanted GTA for the PSP has gotten it and finished it a long time ago. That's one of those advantages of the system being region free. Plus, GTA is pretty import friendly for those lacking English skills. While it's officially out in Japan, it's been readily available at import and used game shops ever since it was released in Japan. So yeah, not really news imo...

Actually, I think it will sell very well. San Andreas wasn't released in Japan until just a couple of months ago and it sould surprisingly well. I think it's because it allows the Japanese a look into "American life." I mean, San Andreas was a very good look at life in the early 90's life in the west coast (even though a bit exaggerated), something that they don't see much of over there.
