New Grand Theft Auto IV screens, illustrations
Rockstar just sent over four new screens of Grand Theft Auto IV, which we've added to our gallery for the game. Included in this latest batch is this picture of Niko rollin' in a (stolen?) late 80s Chrysler, this African guy's underwear, Chinatown, and this incredible shot of what we imagine is "BOABO" (Beneath the Offramp of the Algonquin Bridge Overpass. But that's not all, they've included some logo treatments (no big surprises here) and illustrations (check out these shady dudes) to keep you hooked.

Seriously, though, I'll probably pick this up for the 360 shortly after release, it's looking good.

I wonder how realistic they got it.

I thought they were going to model the fictional city on NYC buildings. I thought that was why some NY politicians were getting pissed off cause they were making it too close and just changing names.

Rumor is you won't have to play as that guy, because he dies early in the game and his cousin or something takes over as the lead character. But I see your point... then again, I don't really care if the lead character "looks like a terrorist"...

But GTA IV looks like Rockstar's working hard, looking forward to it.

I bought GTA Vice City just for the 80's soundtrack. Great music. San Andreas...not so much.

Don't stay asleep too long because you might end up in future ravaged by three warring factions of atheists, fighting over who has the most appropriate name!

It looks like it's about as realistic as GTA3 was. Some things are right, others are not, still more is not even intended to be realistic. The whole thing looks extremely compressed in terms of distance, and there are not nearly as many buildings in any of these shots as in the real NYC. Several areas have been combined - Chinatown is not really where it is in the shot above (that would have to be Chambers St. for that view, which is not in Chinatown), "BOABO" is actually DUMBO - there are no residential buildings directly under the Brooklyn Bridge, but there are under the Manhattan Bridge. My guess is the Manhattan Bridge doesn't actually exist in the game, nor will most of NYC's other two dozen or so bridges.
I just hope nobody gets disappointed by the fact that this is not a simulation of NYC. Alternatively, I hope nobody who doesn't know any better thinks this is a real representation of the city. Like GTA3, it has certain obvious landmarks, but some areas are combined, the distance between landmarks seems much shorter than real life, and just the overall density of the city is much less than reality.

But yeah I don't like th elooks of this guy either.
If they have a turban as an option for hats, I'll buy him one and steal only taxis. ;)

Where colors and light will look correct and not like they are from some stupid cartoon.
