I have complete confidence in Bethesda. The Fallout franchise has been nothing short of non-stop awesome (until it went on hiatus), and I think Bethesda will carry that awesomeness forward. What I have seen so far tells me that they have a solid hold of the look and feel of the franchise.
That being said, I was a huge fan of the turn-based tactical combat, and hope that some of that element will be carried forward... fully interactive and destructible environments would be sweet too.

Of course, eldee, because those "typical fanboy whine" comments don't use offensive slurs. That's unacceptable.

Excuse me? Offensive slurs? The word "fucking" is an offensive slur now? At what point did joystiq start the nazi comment moderation, because in my time posting here and reading posts, I see 'bad words' on nearly every other blog entry. If you don't like my opinion and decide to delete my comment do so, and say so. Don't feed me some half assed excuse about offensive slurs.

That's not the offensive slur (which, for those playing at home, was a derogatory term used to describe gay people). The slur, on top of the rest of the profanity, and on top of the lack of meaningful content, and on the unnecessary and and unrequited rudeness directed toward other commenters on this site. That is why your comment was deleted.

Vince, I wholeheartedly concur with your viewpoint my African American brother.

I miss the 50's music, too.

I have at this point no faith in Bethesda. Something also tells me their Fallout 3 will be ho-hum and a flop.

what i really don't get about you guys is how you can't even give it a chance. granted, i've never played any installment of the Fallout series, but with what i've heard from the Fallout faithful.. it sounds fucking awesome.

you Fallout fans sound about as dedicated to this series as i have been to the Diablo series. i own and have beaten every game in the franchise and have beaten them too many times to count(except Hellfire. i own it but never beat it).

here's my point though: in today's industry, hoping for a Fallout game that is just like the old ones is like me hoping for Diablo 3 to be the same kind of (in ways) annoyingly realistic and hardcore dungeon crawler that the original Diablo was. while i would absolutely love that, it simply wouldn't sell and would be an absurd request for Blizzard to fulfill. if Diablo 3 ever exists, it will most likely be very similar to a World of Warcraft. though perhaps minus the MMO aspect.. hopefully.

because i'm a dedicated fan of the Diablo ip though, i would accept the changes as the evolution of the franchise and move on. i'd play it and enjoy it anyway for what it would be rather than what i would have liked it to be. and who knows, PERHAPS i'd even enjoy it.

i think Fallout (if they really do change it as much as you're dreading so much) is in the same situation. if you really do love the games and the world they create, i'd recommend that you at least play the game. if you absolutely hate it, then you were right and that's fine. never buy another Bethesda product again. but maybe you'll actually have fun. you'll never know unless you give it a chance.

end ramble.
