I think it's telling that Sony are still releasing games on the PS2 over its bigger bro. This game would take a team next to no time to port to the PS3, lets face it, it's not renound for it's stunning visuals or complex physics engine yet it remains a PS2 game.

Another example is GoW2, would have been a bit of work to port and update visuals etc. but would have given the PS3 a much needed boost, they could have even done a TP and released it later on PS2.

Yes PS2 is still a big money maker but for how long, Sony needs to throw everything they have at their new system in an effort to get even a slightly respectable number of people buying the thing.

Also is 'addicting' a word in yankeeland? I see it all the time on forums so I'm thinking either half the posters didn't graduate or it's only us in the UK that use 'addictive'.

Iknow what you mean, they also say "could care less" when they mean "couldn't care less" so they are saying the exact opposite of what they are intending to say!

Ummm, what? When has supporting your previous consoles ever been a bad thing? Microsoft and Nintendo could take lessons.

Also, you forget, Singstar for PS3 is coming this year and unlike the PS2 versions, can have new songs downloaded via their iTunes like store. So yes, it is coming on PS3. But no, PS2 doesn't have the same advantage PS3 does when it comes to DLC.

And yes, Addicting is a word. It's just a rarely used word. www.dictionary.com next time you feel like being humourous towards us inferior yanks, ya limey bastard.

I don't have a dictionary on hand, but after a quick check of www.dictionary.com and Microsoft Word spell check, it appears that both are words over here in the US. I'll have to do more research to find out if they're supposed to be used differently.

@p1nseeker

Yeah, I can't stand it when people do that.

Ah, the 90's....

Perhaps the worst decade that music has ever known. Of course, this one is even worse, so I really can't say much.

@bigger boat

Problem is the target audience of this (10 year old girls) wont pay $600 for a console

However they will buy a PS2 for $100 or still have one from their dancemat and other singstar games

I agree with you about GOW2 though

Those have got to be the worst songs ever made! I don't know about you, but when I think of the 90s, I think of grunge music... not lame pop tracks.

Okay, I'll ask again, then. Since when is it a bad thing for a company to support previous hardware? I mean, PS2 hasn't even entered the "ton o bargain bin" release phase yet. They are throwing support to a bunch of people instead of saying "fuck you, buy PS3."

This is hella goodwill towards your consumer base and generally assures that, once those consumers DO upgrade, they will be looking at PS3 just because of all the PS2 love they got.

@Tacoman

One might, but then one would get slapped by one other's backhand.

And I agree with Ninja Penguin, it's a damn shame. Still want them both represented in Guitar Hero, though.

Hey Loki there's something wrong with your computer. It accidentally wrote the word "gay" when you meant to type "I don't like these songs."

Man what a waste of a comment. The internet's not a big truck you know.

@ why not the LS2/LS7?

I'm just messing, I'm Scottish so dont really care how much you guys murder the English language, I'm still riled up after watching Braveheart 10 years ago!

@ sheppy

I dont think continued PS2 love will necessarily help future PS3 sales, SNES didn't ensure N64's diominance and the N64 didn't ensure GC's market share. Apart from the brand the PS3 is a completely different beast from its predecessor, one being a luxury, high end media centre, the other being an affordable, mainstream games machine.

I'd like to see Nirvana and the Smashing Pumpkins too, but maybe they are saving the grunge ones for a specially made singstar: grunge or something, that would be pretty cool. hurt your throat though :)
