H3 beta custom games unlocked, pistol spotted
18
Remember all the hullabaloo over the custom game menus uncovered in the Halo 3 beta? Unfortunately, it was somewhat muted thanks to the fact that custom games were still unplayable. At least, that's what we thought. It turns out that a few people have managed to actually start custom games of Halo 3 using the beta. Both of the videos in this post (one posted after the break) show a custom game of VIP. In the videos we see a few things that are not currently available in the beta, including multi-team gameplay and the M6G pistol. There is also one instance of automated team switching in the video, which would allow for more complex gametypes, such as the popular Zombies gametype. Unfortunately, it seems that the custom games created so far have been created by accident, so none of the custom options -- such as adjustable gravity -- have been tweaked.
Here's hoping Bungie opens up custom games in a future beta update.
Update: Be warned that the first video is NSFW thanks to some salty language. Thanks to Mrfreezie from pointing this out.
[Thanks, Grant G]

What's funny about that is of course that the shitty music is the Halo theme...

Its possible that bungie have done this on purpose, I mean they knew that thousands would be getting this, maybe they put some random chance that you could play the locked game types... I'm not sure why they'd do that mind...

This needs to be labeled NSFW due to the lyrics in the music.

hey,
nifty, i submitted this.
it's nice to see that the pistol will be a little less powerful now.
As for the music in the first video... Yeah, it's a requirement to put horrible rap/rock-pop over your internet videos.
You can read all about it in "youtube game videos for dummies Vol. II"

Get six people together in a party, then have a party of 2 join the game. One of the players should be booted, and be given a custom game. Then, just have that person invite the other players into the game.
You're all welcome.

Somewhat offtopic but a guy put pictures from a Gamer Pro Magazine that is July's issue with HALO 3 on the cove and the pic show off the brute chopper and 2 or 3 new maps. One of the maps is called shrine and is the biggest halo multiplayer map ever. Also create your own spartan which looks cool.

My friend got the newest issue of Gamepro (Issue 226/July 07) and it has some new info.
Sorry for the crappy picture quality, had to use webcam....and sorry for the wall o' text. :D

Quoted from the article:
Weapons
Magnum - The Magnum is much improved since Halo 2, dishing out slower, more punishing shots. But it's still not back to Halo 1 strength, as the clip currently carries just eight rounds and you can't zoom in. Still a nice, precise choice for dual-wield combos.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a106/Hank101/magnum.jpg
Energy Sword - The infamous Sword gets two tweaks aimed at balancing its overwhelming power. One change is a brief weapon-switch delay. The second adjustment is more controversial: the Energy Sword now has an ammo meter that depletes with each attack, which keeps players from hoarding it indefinitely.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a106/Hank101/sword.jpg
Vehicles
Wraith - The lumbering Covenant Wraith returns with a new player-operated secondary turret. It's helpful for driving off boarding attempts.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a106/Hank101/wraith.jpg
Brute Chopper - This ugly, jagged Brute Chopper looks like something Firefly's Reavers might drive into battle. Its twin cannons nad heavy, blade-like chassis can pulverize lesser vehicles in a nanosecond.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a106/Hank101/brutechopper.jpg
Equipment
Radar Jammer - Hurl this item into a fight and watch as chaos and confusion engulf friend and foe alike. The jammer scrambles the radar of all nearby players and triggers disco-like light flashes to further disorient your prey.

Maps
Shrine - A UNSC battle cruiser looms menacingly over Shrine's sprawling sand dunes. Shrine is the largest map ever to appear in a Halo game, so Bungie put a key emphasis on vehicle-on-vehicle combat. Shrine has few ties to older Halo 2 maps, but its massive size recalls Relic.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a106/Hank101/shrine.jpg
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a106/Hank101/shrine2.jpg
Epitaph - Epitaph is an arcane Forerunner cathedral-like structure that towers above the surrounding wasteland. The central killing floor is crisscrossed with elevated walkways, exterior hallways, and lifts. It's a spiritual successor to Halo 2 maps like Colossus, Gemini, and Midship.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a106/Hank101/epitaph2.jpg
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a106/Hank101/epitaph3.jpg
Last Resort - Zanzibar, one of Halo 2's most beloved maps, has been rebuilt and rechristened Last Resort for Halo 3. This industrial site is almost twice as big, with a less cluttered internal layout and more paths into the flag room.
Secret Map - Bungie sneakily sent us two mysterious concept paintings labeled only as "Work in Progress Map." We see the icey motif and pray for a new Lockout, but only Bungie knows the truth.

Hey i just wanted to let u guys know that u can change the gravity in these games, as well as the speed. its pretty tight.

I got invited into a custom game last night and played Slayer with brute shots, 300% movement speed, and 50% gravity on Valhalla. Whoever is in the lead gets hit with 25% movement speed and 200% gravity. So you basically become a rock as soon as you take the lead. It was a blast. I hope to get into a custom game tonight but since I don't know how to start one, aside from what Haxxxor said I have to wait for another invite.

Yeah, been playing custom games for about 16 hours now. The Wraith get the award for Best Improvement. The pistol gets an honorable mention *cough*it sucks!*cough cough*. The sword is also improved, nifty battery to stop the sword noobs. Oh, and the gametypes are all awesome.
