Halo 3 beta officially gets 2v2, unofficially VIP and pistol
This week, Halo 3 beta players have gotten some new goodies to skirmish with -- only not all of them were intentional.
Officially, Bungie has added Double Team Training gametype, which is an unranked 2-on-2 match, and has now given gamers the option of playing Big Team Battle as a ranked match. Unofficially, a few custom matches have been unlocked showing off unrevealed features such as the Escort mission and automatic team switching. Fans of the original Halo will enjoy a glimpse of of the M6G pistol in use, a derivative of the first game's M6D without a scope.
We've embedded two videos of the custom games after the break. One video was purported to have been done via modding, whereas the other was reportedly done through perseverence. Said the video's narrator, "we kept trying [to get into a custom game] and it worked ... this is a real game, no modding involved."

the custom game is done by getting one party of 6 ppl together then have another party of 2 join it. one person will be booted(hopefully ppl say its not 100%) and that person will have a custom game.have that person send the invites.maybe bungie will let us make custom games in the last week or something.
TY internets!

damnit, I wanted him to at least kill somebody with the pistol. I was hoping for headshots, and to see the melee animation.

@1) Ah.. that actually happened in a game w/ me and my roommate (seperate TVs and 360s), we joined a BTB Training as a group of 2.. and when the game started he wasn't in the room w/ the rest of us. I walked to his room and noticed he was playing by himself on an empty... wish I knew we could've played some custom matches.

Anybody else notice the two videos are the same game just filmed by different people? Around 1:30 left in the first and 3min left in the second , the VIP has a brute shot in both and goes the same path and even switches weapons at the same place on the map.

Any word on picking what types of games you DON'T want to play? I enjoyed the hell out of some multi online play with a couple people at my place, but there were some gametypes that were crap. All we were in the mood for was pure deathmatch or team deathmatch, the other ones thrown in were just a waste of time. If we could put that we don't want to play those, we'd be happier, and people who actually wanted to play those would be happier too.
