Plastic bag death is back! Woot.

Now I'd appreciate rumble for this game if you could actually feel the slowing resistance before a final death...

according to the IGN interview, it basically is a murder simulator

they stated that you must use the wiimote as saw to cut someone in half, or stab them in the neck with a pen, or use the wiimote + nunchuck to rip off someone's family jewels

eww

man I would have no problem if they banned this game

I would, I just mean... I'm not playing it

Let's see some anti ninty squad claim wii is kiddy after they release what ign is calling the most gory game ever made.

Ninja Penguin,

I wrote that I do not have a problem with this game, it was just a matter of speech. This game should be released, sans censorship. Nobody is forced to buy, play, or watch it. I am anti censorship.

I personally don't think I will play it.

It will be released, with rocket sales

Honestly I would be disturbed if I found out one of my friends enjoyed playing this on the Wii. I can imagine the rumble + sound effects coming out of the controller as you, as IGN described, cut someone in half from the buttocks up.

anyway, ugh

It will probably be a "good" game though.

The game will see release. The parental controls on the system enable them to wash their hands of legal responsibility, which in my opinion is the only thing they have ever feared. This game will arrive a huge stink will ensue and Nintendo will say, you know you don't have to buy your kids this and BTW the first time you power the system up it asks you about locking out certain content. To be honest Nintendo wants this game to have a media circus, it will keep hype on the machine and give them a chance to publicly shed thier kiddie image.

The release of this game where certainly be a monumentous point in Nintendo's history. Question that will certainly follow is how many people will buy (or even rent) it.

What is everybody's opinion on it?

I probably won't but I am planning to rent the Godfather.

The funny thing is, that the "kiddie" Wii is the first console to actually get a "murder simulator"

Anyone remember when that game Thrill Kill got cancelled?

I will likely avoid it myself. Not because of any moral obligation, but it is just not my style I can kill all kinds of baddies, but to brutalize someone is over my line. I tried godfather and was super impressed with the controls, but I actualy disliked extorting people. If they took that control scheme and put it into some kind of Streets of Rage/Final Fight style brawler I would be all for it.

I'm going to buy it just to support adult content on Nintendo platforms...same for RE4...though I beat it on the GC already...

Though I'm Manhunt 2 will end up on my "games I own but never finished" list like most do... World of Warcraft so has me by the balls...

I actually am happy about this game if for nothing other than showing that the little Wii can act like a very adult (no kids allowed) showcase. Who knows if the game will be any good. I recall BMXXX being released with media frenzy, but no one bought it because it sucked.
Someone brought up thrill kill. Funny thing about that game was that biggest reason it wasn't released wasn't the violence but the sexually suggestive themed "fatality" one of the female characters had. It would get released in today's market BTW.
I would play this game, but if it's a stnker it will just go right back to Blockbuster.

I still think this game will go by relatively unseen, on all platforms

The concept is good, but i just don't see the execution of the concept being all that strong

This would still be perfect for Nintendo though, a chance to show off their parental controls and shed the image that's dogged them since "Sweat-not-blood Mortal Kombat II"

I can imagine a board room:

Team: We need to make Manhunt 2, but we're out of ideas.
Guy: Why don't we put it on the Wii, everyone has one. That and PS2
Team: Um, the Wii, you sure? What kind of games do they have?
Guy: Ummm... Paper Mario, Mario Party, Zelda, Trauma Center...
Team: Trauma Center, what's that?
Guy: Well, you use the Wiimote to cut people open and save their lives...
Guy2: What if... we make a game where you cut them open, but then just leave them to die?
Team: Brilliant!

This is going to be the LittleBigPlanet of the Wii, not in that everybody wants to try it out, but that nobody will buy it because the target audience doesn't play Wii. Same as Viva Piniata on 360.

I for one am looking forward to this game on the Wii. I loved the first Manhunt, and played through it 3 or 4 times before I traded it for a different game (then kicked my butt for doing so). The wii controls will be a nice touch, just hope they aren't too sloppy.

Yes, and 14 year old's and the 19 year olds with a 14 year old's maturity who think they're too cool for mario. The same kind of audience that played MK on sega instead of SNES, even though the SNES version played much better.

But yeah, the insane psychopaths, too. I probably won't be getting this game if its as gory as it sounds.

"What is everybody's opinion on it?"

Okay, I do have to say this and I know some people's opinions about me will go down but fuck it. Ever since Manhunt 2 has been announced, I've been fiending for details. Why? I was a huge fan of the original Manhunt.

You have a sick and twisted hero stuck in a psychotic situation, being forced to kill for your own survival and for your loved ones. Meanwhile, if you had the headset for PS2, the constant egging on by the crepy old man was a distressingly disturbing experience and let's say you're creeping up on someone and the old man says something in your ear, you can get shocked, cuss in real life, and "OH SHIT!" they heard you in the game, your position is announced. Manhunt was all about walking the razors edge and yes, it was disturbing but it was still one hell of a ride. Upon completion, you're left with some pretty hefty questions about yourself.

Now, with Manhunt 2, I've been avoiding details on the plot but I can definately assure you, the people you kill aren't good guys. They weren't in the first Manhunt. And is it disturbing? Yes, definately. But this game will drive you down to the very basic level of human instincts. Fight or flight. It's vicious, it's primal, it will definately force players to ask questions about themselves, and I can't wait.

And yes, it does force you to question yourself. You ultimately have the choice in how violent your kills are and after you do them, not just witness them, you have to ask yourself why you opted for the most violent method. You're not supposed to be happy at how vicious a killer you are. That's never been the point of manhunt. This is SUPPOSED to distress you.

Actually Jack Tompson is going after this game, albeit in a rather obscure fashion...

Since he cannot go after Rockstar anymore he went after Wendy's, yes Wendy's. They are currently holding a Wii promotion and giving away mario toys, etc. He send them a letter saying if they did not stop the Wii promotion (because of Manhunt 2 being released on the Wii) he would make sure such and such happened. Yadda Yadda.

I think among the biggest tragedies here is in the fact that people labeled the original Manhunt "all gore, no substance" and missed out on one of the greatest stealth games last generation and this pattern is looking to repeat all over again.

I don't have a lot of experience playing "mature" games, mostly the Resident Evil series and Eternal Darkness. I am really looking forward to this game though. I can't pin point why. The style reminds me a little of 'Second Sight', a game I enjoyed. Maybe that's why. Anyway I will buy the game, but I don't know if I'll be able to stomach it long enough to finish it.

C'mon guys, everyone bitched and whined about not getting any Mature games on a Nintendo console... they finally do, and you guys cry that it's TOO violent.

It's a game. Nothing less. :)

I'm 15 and I'm mature enough to not care what games I play are cool or not. Seriously, why can't I play Mario, Metroid, Halo, Manhunt, Vive Pinata, and Resident Evil? Why do I have to be hardcore or kiddie? Seriously you might think the target audience would not buy this game but again, I'm a Wii owner that has only bought E and T games for the Wii and I'm picking this up.

Its funny; when the Wii control scheme was first shown, I realized right then that it had the potential to make *truly immersive* games that were "violent" because there is just..."something" about doing it that makes it more...real?

There are a lot of "waggle" cracks tossed at the Wii Remote, but as others have said, it really shined when applied to "Grand Theft Brando" aka Blackhand.

I mean...jacking people up and slamming their heads against a table or counter...it just didn't need 720p+ and an assload of texture memory to be "in it"...you are in it.

I remember playing Condemned on 360 and thinking it would be *so much better* if i was "actually" busting people in the head with a wrench.

I dunno, maybe its just me, but when done *right* it seems so far that the overall better gameplay is going to Wii games that do control right.

*shrug*
