So wait there's the 3 maps we've already played in the beta, plus 4 new ones for a total of 7 multiplayer maps? Geez I was under the impression we were going to get 10+

Oh well as long as there is DLC or the maps are as high quality as the 3 in the Beta, I guess it's all good.

There ARE other games, you know.

Yea I can't wait for the Halo news to stop coming as well. Then I will not have to sift through all the Halo hate comments to get to the on topic comments. Seems the stupid ones are the ones reading a Halo article when they dislike Halo. Go play your George Foremanesq console.

Joystiq gives us Halo 3 news because that is what people want. Please skip the posts that you don't want to read rather than complain.

"Go play your George Foremanesq console."

See? You assume the haters are PS3 gamers. And not just people who are tired of all the Halo news. I have the beta, I can play anytime I want. Blurry scans being posted is just becoming downright desperate to post anything Halo (incidently, I hope the character editor allows me to create Ninja from MGS).

And what else is happening in the gaming world right now? How about all the glorious paint jobs being spotted on Forza 2 from Japan (seriously, I need a video on how the editor worked. I played the hell out of Top Gear Rally on N64 just because of the custom paint job feature)? How about Gamecock finally releasing some info on the highly mysterious title Mushroom Men? http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=14143 Hell, there are a ton of things going on in the gaming world. And look up at that banner on the right.

Extensive Halo coverage... click the banner. I mean, at this point, we're just waiting for Joystiq to post it's first of many fanart and fanfic Halo links.

I bet there are more than 7 maps total. Every Halo game has shipped with at least 10.

Still, for those of us that enjoy this supposedly "overrated" game, this is excellent news.

Sheppy,
if you are tired of reading about all the halo 3 news, why don't you just ignore it?
I understand you're tired of reading about halo 3, but that doesn't mean everyone feels the same way.

Bitching about halo news, in a halo post, seems kind of futile.

"Bitching about halo news, in a halo post, seems kind of futile.

"If you don't like it, you can get out!""

A. Because I'm compelled to read every story here, believe it or not. That, and they don't have a "bitch about too much Halo coverage" link next to "Send Us Tips."

B. I'm afraid. I'm really afraid that, with all the coverage, by the time it finally comes out, I'll be so damn tired of the game and all it's hype that I won't get any enjoyment out of it. Happened to me with several movies, several books, a few games, and we are 5+ months away from the release and it's 1-2 Halo posts daily. I don't want to get burned out on a game long before I even get a chance to play it.

C. Who would I be if I wasn't always shitting on someone's sunshine?

So sheppy,
Because YOU *have* to read every link and YOU feel Halo will be too overhyped in YOUR mind - YOU have to irritate everyone with your constant whining? Hopefully you're not too selfish for a girlfriend, because you need one. Badly.

Let me tell you what works for ME: Earlier today - "Company of Heroes producer creates new studio, working on mystery game" - I read headline - I care 0% - I move on without having to make a comment on how I care 0%. Sounds easy, no?

Haha, I am really only going to say one thing to Sheppy.

Don't be such a fucking noooobbbb.

You are really the most worthless person on Joystiq, even the random trollers like you that can't spell are better then you. At least they know when to shut up after making their worthless points about how a game is over-rated, how a console sucks, how Joystiq sucks, or how a post sucks. You just keep on going saying the same shit over and over hoping for some kind of internet conflict with someone you don't know in an effort to waste time before the newest PS3 feature comes out. Of course then you will just boast about how amazing it is even when it is clear to everyone else that it in fact doesn't have any real potential at all.

...oh wait, I guess that was more then one thing.

So to wrap it up, I just want to tell Sheppy to shut the fuck up. Not because I actually think that maybe he will listen to me and shut the fuck up, it's merely to inform him that he can add another person to the list of people that hate him and his worthless posts.

@GJM, john, Lord Chako

Fine, I'll refrain from bitching about too many Halo stories (and in case you dinglehoppers missed it, I'm not the only voice saying this shit). But it's really hard to AVOID Halo news. This site is loaded with it, kotaku is laoded, ign is loaded, it's even on the GAP boards at Playstation.com. NeoGaf is overrun, comic sites are running news nonstop because of the new comic story from Marvel, movie sites keep bringing the film up, and even CGtalk is overrun (thankfully forum leaders try to clamp it down). How am I to AVOID Halo, exactly? Oh, and GJM... yeah, that girlfriend insult isn't tired and used like your mom at all. And Chako... shitting on someone's sunshine, do I really have to start marking sarcasm again?

@Dustin.

Way to add yourself to the mass of morons that think, unless you're starving for Halo information, you're a PS3 fanboy. Especially when I list Forza 2 AND Mushroom Men in this topic alone. You may want to check your release lists. A lot of 360 games come out between now and Halo 3's launch.

@RazorElite
Actually, even if I were to go to a platform specific website (like Playstation Underground), people still link this news. And what do I gain? Sure, I avoided Halo news for the most part but I also miss out on news about Bioshock, Blue Dragon, Project Silpheed, Lost Odyssey, Eterna Sonata, Shadowrun, Mass Effect and others.

I do think it would be better to streamline the Halo 3 stories that will be coming out (but the amount will go down after the Beta, heat up in the min E3 era, then keep going up until release)

Someone somewhere else mentioned a "This week in Halo 3" similar to the new "Keeping up with the Smash Bros" concept

Its not the i mind the news stories (i follow them to see if it'll live up to the hype) i just find it bothersome that every little tidbit merits its own story, when there's hardly enough content to merit itself on its own

Why is it you complain?

Joystiq posts anything and everything. Especially if its burning up the forums why not post the news?

They also have a few writers, which leads to the varying ammounts of coverage for different games.

If new Warhawk news came out everyday, and someone actually gave a crap, I'm sure Joystiq would cover it.

I hope Joystiq keeps posting Halo 3 news, just to piss off the people that don't realize, THIS IS A BLOG.

I get tired of seeing those stupid Japanese Hardware Sales (Forever & Always Will be Wii & DS Edition). I mean it doesn't even make sense to post the garbage anymore. I don't live in Japan, Nintendo owns Japan, the Wii will surpass 360 sales. I mean so what...

I actually like Halo. It's fun. Sure its being overhyped. But wait until Smash Brothers and Prime 3 comes out. We will never hear the end of it. Actually that's all I hear from Nintendo Fanboys: "Mario Galaxy/Metroid Prime 3/Smash Brothers/ will pwn everything in existence."

I mean just get over it. If I have to hear all the Nintendo Fan crap/hype you naysayers can hear all the Xbox 360 shit. HALO HALO HALO!!!

Between this and the news that UT3 would have 4 player co-op, it looks like paper-based magazines are coming up with news items that online sites aren't getting, despite popular belief that online sites are more 'current' and 'up-to-the-minute'.

Couple that with their superior quality of writing and I guess the days of paper magazines being irrelevant are a longer way off than some people would like to think!

It's quite funny how sheppy says something to the effect that you can't assume he's a PS3 fanboy.

Actually, we can, because he spends his time on the PS3 General board on gamefaqs bashing the 360 and praising the 360. Nevermind that he may be biased because he's in the neverending, on-going process of making a simple little arcade game for PSN, because MS turned down what was likely going to be a game that isn't worth buying (oh lets completely forget that he couldve still hosted the game through the XNA creators club, but then again I think hes lying to make up an excuse as to why he supports PSN over XBL). He's a balanced, rational-thinking gamer.

Dude, just shut the hell up and stop reading. A Halo article link takes up, what, a couple of inches on your screen? Christ, you really need to calm the fuck down if something that simple irritates you. That or get a life beyond coding amateur games that Sony will never put up on PSN, and trolling articles that other people would like to see.

You know why Halo gets so much coverage? Maybe it has something to do with the fact that millions of people enjoy the series. If you dont like it, its understandable, just dont bitch and complain about having to skip past a few inches on your freakin screen. You can hang out on a pro PS3 site or something, where you dont have to worry about your most hated console's news popping up.

Fanboys these days...
