Halo 3 Energy Sword, Wraith featured in videos

We showed you the pistol that people exploiting the "custom game" glitch in the Halo 3 beta had turned up yesterday, and now we bring you some hot, sexy sword action. We don't have anything to say that's cooler than a Spartan jumping around and julienning people with pure energy, so we're just going to let you watch and enjoy.

But stick around after the jump, because we've got a video of the Wraith, and we're sure to have something cooler to say about that. I mean, it's just a super-rad tank hurtling over the countryside and crushing everything in it's path. We'll be able to be witty. No problem.

@ 2 & 3, Agreed. This is just getting horrible. There is a crap load of other games out there in development that are way more interesting then the same halo2 daily posts. Oops, I mean halo3.

NEW GAMETYPE: INFECTION. COMFIRMED. Get into the custom game type lobby in halo 3 beta and it lists it as a gametype.

Halo gets posted a lot because people care about it. They watch the video, post in the thread, and come back to the site because it has Halo news. It is ironic that 3 or 4 people have already posted how they don't care about Halo and don't know why it gets so much Joystiq attention. Well, you do care, because you took time to post. And, you are partly responsible for the attention, because you care about it and post on it.

Sorry about the rant, but I thought I had better at least point out to you guys what is going on and why it is.

But why wouldn't the game that will sell the most copies of any game this year get a ton of attention? Personally, I am looking forward to Halo3 and have high hopes for co-op play over LIVE. But I am not that damn excited about it. Just another Halo. Mass Effect, Forza (tonight baby), Bioshock, Two Human, Two Worlds (maybe), Fable 2, Gaiden 2 (I assume), and many others are some 360 games that I am really looking forward to.

I just don't see how you can get so excited about a game that will be Halo2 HD with equipment and new maps. I know it is a bit more than that, but I doubt it is going to just blow your mind. Some people just really, really love Halo.

Never said I was too cool for Halo. Just said this is getting excessive. After all, do we get daily SSBM details reported on thanks to that website? Do we get a plethora of new details from the Warhawk beta (won't get it from me... NDAs FTW)? But nope... Halo 3 is different. We get daily updates of every single little detail uncovered.

Why not a "this week in Halo?" segment similar to their coverage of SSB? Why does every video on Youtube deserve it's own news post?

I was screwing around in it last night, and you can change speed and gavity settings, even to the point of agility pickups. We had a game where everyone walked and couldn't jump, followed by what felt like Crackdown.

Let me guess - this is Xbox360?

Moves are good. Reeeally good. But still clumsy and slow compared to keyboard+mouse controls.

Would be interesting to compare the Halo with MP3:C when latter will be out. In graphics, 360 is clear winner. But controls... As FPS freak I really would love to see showdown (in August) of MP3:C/WiiMote against GearsOfWar/Halo/classic controller.

I feel that I expect way too much from WiiMote which is first iteration of mainstream point-and-shoot controller (made by company well known for obscure hw gimmicks). Yet, "I want to believe".

P.S. And the driving things (as well as flying and floating things) they really destroy FPSs. Most of games claiming to be FPS, are really remind me more arcades: do that, jump here, swim there, ride that, fly over here. Shooting - first person shooting - sadly is hardly present in quarter of game play. Recall Halo2 which barely had anything to do with shooters at all.

its OBVIOUSLY got something going for it.
just because its not coming out for ps3, doesnt mean its bad OK.

I paused the video right before the guy lunges and pulls up the gamertag. Looked up the stats on bungie.net. Noticed the new medal and had to see what it was...Bulltrue! A friggin' medal for a lunge kill?

I find it funny that this is a blog.....meaning they can post what they want. Don't like it....leave. theres no NDA on this beta and people are finding things that aren't meant to be found. thats why people care. This to me is pointless, it could have been sumed up (yesterdays and todays) in one post, but that still doesn't mean I can't (and a ton of others) enjoy this because it's cool.

It's actually easier to get into the custom matches than I thought. In GRAW there is an achievement which is kill the guy who has this achievement already. http://www.achieve360points.com/game/ghostreconadvancedwar/

It's the same deal with getting into a custom game. Just join a game where somebody is already playing a custom game. If you leave the game you can start a custom match of your own.

The bad news is that once you log out, shut off the system, or even back out to matchmaking, the custom games settings are gone. The good news is that because of this Domino effect, by the time the Beta ends on June 10th, practically anybody with a friends can get it on this. That's assuming Bungie doesn't find a way to stop it.

Oh and there is an enormous amount of setting choices such as adjust speed. I played one game on 300% speed.

Good games for everyone, please dont post negative comments against Halo 3 this game will be fun no matter what people say, iam a PC gamer and i know this game may take 3 years to have it on PC however i`ll have Crysis and you PS3 fans will have Haze, so be happy everyone...........

Comparing Warhawk to Halo 3? That is hilarious. Ridiculous even by sheppy standards.

That being said, I hope MP gets a major overhaul before the game ships. I'm already done with the beta as I feel it's unplayable now that we have games like Gears. I think even PD0 had better MP (still crap though)

Lol, I was playing this last night... all night. It looks like they did what we did. 50% Gravity and 300% Player speed. It's pretty fun. It's cool that if you go to Valhalla, get off the map, then go to the rocks on either side you can explore. Also, You can man cannon from the base that isn't near water all the way to the river on the other side of the Spartan Laser hill. It's pretty fun.

Oh, and the Halo 1 Pistol totally pwns. In the game type "Eliminatio" the person with the most kills on the winning team gets Overshield, infinite ammo, and we set it to spawn with pistols... I was on a rampage, I felt all special cause I had 48 kills. Then I found out that the person with the pistol gets 3 points per kill =P

I don't like how the sword takes up half the screen now... it just bothers me. But at 300% player speed you run as fast as a full speed mongoose, it's fun to race =P

The wraith also has turret spot now for a second person. It's pretty cool.

Oh, and you can set players to have 4x Overshield with 2000% Damage resistance (or invulnerable)... though we didn't try it. But we found "Vampirism" so that when you're fighting someone and it takes 10% of the damage you take from their shields and adds it to your shields (We didn't try it though) I kinda wish I saved that two hour video of us racing on Valhalla so you guys could see all this.. but then the video would be as large a file as the Beta itself =P

I just don't see what's so "next gen" about this game. It doesn't even look as good as Gears of War, even though it's had a much bigger budget. I'm not trying to be a hater, I just don't get Halo. I love FPSs. I've been a PC guy for a long time, and just started to get back into consoles. I really don't see Halo holding a candle to a game like Half-Life 2 or Far Cry or Battlefield 2.

Besides that, the whole look of this Master Chief guy has always screamed "Power Rangers" to me. It's like a bad 80s cartoon.

Just for the record, I'm having a lot more fun with the Warhawk beta than the Halo 3 beta. It better fits what I want out of MP thus I think it's the better MP game. I like Halo more for the co-op campaign than anything else. Also, FYI, Sheppy wasn't trying to compare the two games, he was just commenting on the coverage between the two.

I'm sorry about your reading comprehension, but here it goes: First of all, I have no doubt the Warhawk MP is better than the Halo 3 MP as I already said I feel the Halo 3 MP is very outdated. Also, my comment WAS based on the coverage between the two. To be as clear as possible: To expect the Warhawk coverage to be ANYWHERE NEAR as much as the Halo 3 coverage is hilarious.
