With all this talk of a possible remake (can we get a sequel?) of Killer 7, we find ourselves once again dealing with the idea of games on rails. It seems to be one of those things gamers either love or hate -- never something that's just okay. But we've got to ask: where do you stand? Do you feel differently about, say, Sonic and the Secret Rings being on rails than you do about games that are essentially on-rails shooters?

And I like on-rails games. Just depends on whether or not it's properly used.

I think on rail games are fine. For the wii, an on-rail shooter would bring the arcade to our living rooms. :) pretty cool if you ask me.

I haven't played many on-rails games, but I've always disliked being limited and guided along a crummy pre-set path.

I rented Sonic for the Wii and was excited to play Sonic again. I was dissappointed about the rail system b/c of the limitations on the movement of Sonic. The worlds looked beautiful in the game, but could not be explored freely.
I have not played a shooter on rails before, but wouldnt it be like playing Area 51 or any of those shooters at the arcade?

I'm kinda 50/50 when it comes to games 'On Rails'; they can be a ton of fun when done right. That said, I think it'd be difficult to create a robust 'on rails' game that was actually worth a full $50.00 retail price. However, I'd really like to get a port of Time Crisis 2 from the arcade--It'd be great if the big N would release it via the VC or whatever their new download service is gonna be. I'd pay 20, maybe 30 bucks for it. I think there is hope, but I think that downloadable content is gonna be the way to go.
As for the Sonic game (I haven't played it) but I can't imagine having much fun being stuck on rails in an adventure game.

I haven't played many on-rails games since Area 51. I think I would like them better if the rails branched depending on your actions, so the game's not entirely linear. There are probably a bunch of games like this, but I'm not familiar with them.

You'd be surprised. Aside from Zelda, Sonic is the best game on the Wii, in my opinion.

House of the Dead is "on rails". Killer 7 is not.

I love the Time Crisis series. If they made a game like that for the Wii, I would be all over it.
