EA Mythic is starting beta registration today for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. The game, which was recently delayed until 2008, will begin an invite-only beta in the relative future. To sign up you just click here or there is more information on the Warhammer site. We've got the nagging suspicion that Warhammer Online is going to follow the same route as Lord of the Rings Online in terms of polish. EA Mythic is holding on to the title for longer than necessary to tweak and get that game to shine when it goes gold. Remember, entering the fantasy MMO market, games can't go in fresh, they have to feel like they've got two years of battle under their belt to compete against World of Warcraft. Where's Tabula Rasa already for those done with fantasy and need an MMO sci-fi fix?

Sucks to because as a subscriber to their monthly news letter I have a better chance of getting in.

The apple does not fall far from the tree, they will not be forgiven for how badly they bungled DAOC.

You can use the password they send you in the email to avoid that the next time, but to answer your question, it took me about 5 minutes the last time I had to confirm one.

I've been read up it quite a bit for the last month, and it does look like a pretty interesting game.

I love it. An article about Warhammer becomes free advertisement for Tabula Rasa. Someone at EA Mythic is probably pissed.
Thanks for the link by the way.

Don't know why it is going to spam mail automatically but that is what it did. Hope it helps some.

LOTRO has a clumsy, simple combat system..
Poor user feedback while in combat..
Entirely Meaningless stat progression ( stats do nearly nothing)
An extremely prohibitive leveling system ( ONLY quests give significant EXP, but most quests are parts of chains of many steps, and you cannot share a step ahead of your groupmate. This means you'll spend a lot of time helping people on earlier steps of quest chains to catch them up to you, which you get no benefit from. Monster Kill EXP is next to nothing)
An economy that was so vulnerable to secondary market gold farmers that within the first month the price of commoddities inflated like the russian ruble. I'm looking at you, dwarf iron ore!
An endgame that is COMPLETELY POOCHED. Instances like Fornost are horribly ill concieved and unrewarding. Solo content for the 40+ game amounts to ENDLESS GRIND FOR BOOK PAGES just to get your level 40+ skills. Anyone played FFXI and remember what a pain in the butt it was to get the pages from the skeletons for the Genkai quests? Imagine THE WHOLE REST OF THE ENDGAME was like that?
LOTRO was the most regrettable MMO purchase I've ever made in eight years of MMOG playing.
