If you're looking to put your PlayStation 3 to good use this weekend, may we suggest starting up a Japanese PlayStation Network account and downloading the Japanese demo of FolksSoul (aka: Folklore), the action-RPG that first popped up on our radar at Sony's recent Gamer's Day event. Though the game isn't due to be released in the States until the fall, the Japanese release is scheduled for later this month and PS3 Fanboy's already taken the demo for a spin -- twice in fact. They don't hesitate to recommend we do the same. Any 'stiqers try it?

For those that have set-up Japanese accounts previously... if you buy/download something with a Japanese account, is the item you downloaded available to the other accounts as well? In other words, if I bought as game could I play it while logged in with my N. American account?

Why does that logo have an enormous penis in it?

Is not a penis, is your mind telling you something(get it, get it, get it)

Heroes of Might and Magic box art suffers from the same problem.

Also, yes, you can play a demo downloaded with your Japanese account on your American (or whatever) account. I play the Minna no Golf 5 demo all the time on my American account.

Yes, you can play the game on any account on the system. You just need to log into the Japanese account to begin the download. You can switch at any time to your normal account and play the game.

Because it's another indication that innuendo sells. Just look at Nintendo and its new console. ;)

@5 & 6
Thanks for answering my question. That's exactly what I needed to know. Looks like I need to make myself an Asian account.
BTW, someone over on another site said that if you base your account in HK that you have access to most of the same stuff (I don't know about this demo specificially) with the added bonus that the store and game descriptions are available in English.

Yeah the HK account has JP stuff with some American stuff in it. It doesn't get it at the same time though but usually within 24 hours range since Japan one was uploaded/updated.

Did anyone else checkout the gameplay graphics?
I think I saw a fmv picture in there but the 'Hud' on the in-game graphics and overall graphics quality seeemd a bit cheap? It didn't remind me of a game with equal graphics or gameplay to say Diablo/Diablo II(other action-rpgs).
It seemed more like one of the cheap Diablo II rip-offs made around the time of Diablo II on the pc. Similar to the recently released psp game here:

but with a bit better graphics than that.

@Wes - dude - you gotta watch this game in full motion in HD. The screen caps just don't do it justicce at all. IGN has some videos up on their site - go check em out. The graphics here are nothing to scoff at - not the best - but they are pretty decent. Or you could just download the demo... methinks I'll do that now...

Tried it out last night. Despite not being a JRPG fan and not being able to read Japanese I was quite impressed. I'm really looking forward to a release with English support.
Anyone know when that's likely?

@15: Use a SCART cable. Although I didn’t know PAL PS3s could output NTSC?
