New Manhunt 2 trailer adds more chills
11
Manhunt 2 is clearly an M rated game. The best way to think of it is as the interactive version of Hostel, or one of those hardcore horror flicks. It either appeals to your sensibilities or it doesn't, but that's the gamer's choice, and parents should have the sense to not let their little ones near it -- sadly, we know that's not going to happen. Anyway, the PS2 and PSP versions will be fine and dandy, but using the Wiimote in this game is what's really going to get us to give it a shot. There is going to be some perverse pleasure about playing this game on the Wii for many, many, reasons. The most obvious being that the Wii's control possibilities could be conceived of as being an interactive murder simulator, and then there's the amazing fact that Nintendo let it happen. But it's all up to the responsiveness of the controls that will determine the sick pleasure factor.
The latest trailer gives some more details to the Manchurian Candidate (infected and/or brainwashed) type of character you'll be playing in the sequel, a very different character from the straight-up anti-hero convict in the original. We're going to go with this being part of Rockstar's continuing trend of hiding behind the context of an issue, while maintaining the content. Bully satirically touched numerous lines without crossing them and Manhunt 2 looks to be just as violent as the first, but if the character is a "good guy" discovering his past, trapped in a "bad guy" body, the context absolves the content. But seriously, we're just looking forward to stabbing, slashing, cracking open and shooting some bad guys with the Wiimote. Unleash the fury, Mitch ... unleash the fury! But keep it away from the kids or anybody else who doesn't realize that it's just a game.

I never bothered with the first cause i was into the GC and not Ps2, but i am looking forward to this immensely. The IGN preview depicts some of the sick torture methods you can use, like using the Wiimote/Nunchuk as a pair of pliers to rip off a mans testicles, and using a back and forward sawing motion to cut a man in half. If they get the controls down-pat (something only a few devs seem to have the skill to achieve) then this game is a must-buy, assuming it doesnt get banned here in Australia like the first one. I can always import from the UK i guess.

"This Product is Not Yet Rated"
WTF... I need to know the rating to know if I'll be able to play the interactive murder simulator on my Wii.
Will Rockstar get it to the ESRB and let them get on this already... If it doesn't at least get an E10+ rating, I'll be severely dissapointed.

I liked the first to an extent. The problem i had wasn't so much the "stealth" but how they basically FORCED you to stealth by cheapening your strength compared to certain foes, as opposed to if you just got the drop on them stealth or not.
I wish the game was a little more open in that respect, allowin you to if necessary slug it out (knife it out, pipe it out, etc etc). That would really sit this right off the YEHHAWWW scale.
I'll still probably get it just to yank my wii out of the kiddie ages for minute.

I think kids should be allowed to purchase and play this game if they want. I also think kids should be allowed to drink, brawl, use heroin, and become scheisser-porn stars if they want. /[absurd sarcasm]

This game is sooo kiddy. The Nintendo Wii is a kid system so kids should be allowed to play this game. I mean you don't shoot people in this game nor do you play online. Man, the nintendo wii was built for babies.(/sarcasm)

I applaud the Plumber for allowing this game to happen. This is the only Wee game that has sparked an interest in me. At some point I will have to go to my local GameStop and give this one a try.
This one game is going to cause more protest from the closed minded fear/hate mongering religious right than any other game before it. I also think that this game and it's control scheme will change a lot of the mommies and daddies who think that Nintendo is a game system just for kids.
I think that this game has the potential to blow up in the Plumber's face and cause a lot of attention from the religious right that up until now has been solely heaped upon Sony for the GTA franchise and to a lesser extent the 1st Manhunt and Bully.
Kudos to RockStar for yet another controversial masterpiece.
I remember when RockStar was the new kid on the block and they said that they will only release mature related games for adults because the gamers were growing up and it was time for games to grow up and tackle real adult themes. Several other publishers and magazines said they were crazy and that it would never work. Well, we all know who turned out to be right.
The Wee is still a joke and a ripoff but this one game has for me at least made me want to actually play a Wee game.

They only make M rated games? You're crazy. I didn't notice any murder simulation in the E-rated Table Tennis or the T-rated Bully or Midnight Club games.
