Anyone else think that a black hole should - ya know - make enemies disappear into it? That's some weak azz black hole if the dudes kinda just move to it and spin around in a ball and then get thrown out of it. In fact - that's pretty much what a tornado's physics would do - no? Mayhaps they should rename the attack - or whatever it is.

This game will be worth it just for Mike Patton's voice acting.

correct me if I'm wrong here, but isn't blackhole supposed to... you know, suck in? and when I do want them to spit out, i want it in fragments. that'd be cool.

This looks more like a black coloured temp. magnet.

Stephen Hawken will not be pleased.

Graphics look a bit...poor, even a GC can match it.

I second the "Needs more ripping-to-bitsies" comments.

Also, that's Stephen Hawking, not Hawken.

Dude, don't remind me of the Cerebral Bore. Ugh, I miss that weapon soo much. So many fond memories of tearing my friend's skulls to bits in Turok... I can only hope the new game has the same thing...

Speaking of which, I'm dying for a sequal to Turok 3! That game was so legendary... I think I might go play it.

This "The Darkness" game looks pretty sweet. Can't wait for more info.

Speaking of Stephen Hawking, I hope he has a cameo in one of the new Futurama episodes. The one Futurama episode he was in was funnier than all his Simpsons cameos combined.

"Yes, shove him in the tube. It was my idea."

lol, good stuff.

It's been done. Remember Turok 3? And those black holes even warped the entire scenery (more than we see in the video), as if sucking in the very reality around it. An especially impressive effect considering it was on the N64!

Too bad the rest of the game sucked.

Yeah, i'm really not impressed at all. I think TimeSplitters Future Perfect had a similar weapon, but it actually sucked up the enemies into oblivion.

Anyone remember the Painkeep mod for Quake? It featured a black hole that actually gibbed your opponents as well as throwing them around. You could launch it a hundred yards or so if you were handy with the Airfist... then watch it start up while hanging over another player's head: Orbit orbit orbit SPLATCH. :-)

The gravity vortex from ChaosUT mod for Unreal Tournament 2004 comes to mind. Except that gravity vortex sucked everything around the area where it opened up...including the person who shot it if they were dumb enough to stick around while it opened up.

Yes, I do believe you are correct, in that we have the original version of this weapon. The Gravity Vortex. Though it actually originated in our 1998 Q2 version.

So, if you're interested to see where they lifted this weapon from, please google our Chaos series of mods.

Chaos for Quake2
ChaosUT for UT
ChaosUT2 for UT2003
ChaosUT2: Evolution for UT2004
(and eventually CUT3 for UT3)

And yes, the Chaos version does in fact rip the poor victims to shreds, not just spin them around on a 'colored magnet' as was posted above. From what I've seen, we still have the best version.

Frag on.

I wish this game were coming to the PC. It looks so awesome. Plus it's coming from Starbreeze, the developers of the excellent Chronicles of Riddick game.

HEY ZEUS-Thnx, nice work on the flick! That C.B. was one of my fave weps and it was really a sight to behold at long range, too! Think I'll dig out my TUROK as well! That was one of the very best games ever! [especially with the cheats on-awesome in the rainbow hue!] YEA!

Let me think of the word you thinking of, a real black hole abusively pulls atoms apart each other, mixing them up as a cosmic blender. the word is a verb: spaghettify

I liked the Rift Ripper from Ratchet and Clank. If you fired two or more rifts close to each other, they would pull each other together and converge into a massive rift with a lot more range and which could suck in bigger enemies. Oh yeah, it also has one of the most awesome weapon names ever.

The weapon in this video sucks by comparison. Really.

*kingofwale: "Stephen Hawken will not be pleased."

Actually, according to the latest theories, black holes do emit radiation and high-speed gamma jets.

Now we just need a weapon that paints a highway tunnel on the side of a cliff. Enemies will inevitably run into the wall going fullspeed on their rocket-skates, hilarity will ensue, and good times will be had by all... except the enemies...

#18 TOM- Actually we had one of those. Wiley Coyote hung up one "ACME HIGHWAY TUNNEL" on the side of a cliff. Roadrunner flashes by Wiley down cliff road. Beep veers left on fork of road; numb nuts on rocket-skates keeps going straight into cliff-splatter city! I don't for a moment believe Stephen Hawking would sanction that one....maybe Elmer Fudd...? lol lol

Man the cerebral bore is one of my favorite weapons of all time in a video game. I miss it too. It was so disturbingly satisfying to watch it fly at a dino..stick to his head then see it bore into him and then we get the money shot! Yep I bought another 64 just for that game and of course Goldeneye and Perfect Dark. Either way I can't wait to play the Darkness.
