The Lynx Effect is only available to Xbox Live Members in the UK, Ireland, New Zealand and Australia

... because in the rest of Europe it's called AXE as well ;)

Bow Chica Bow Wow was the RvB episode, it really pissed me off to see AXE blatantly rip RvB off like this.

Great theme, probably the best I've seen on Xbox Live.

Oh and RvB fans quit your whining, no one cares what a bunch of Halo fan boys created. The rest of the world thinks Axe created the phrase, s go weep in a corner while all the men download this awesome theme/picture pack.

Yeah, because no one EVER joked about porno guitars before RvB.

You guys probably think Family Guy is 100% original.

nobody created this "phrase".

Its just an literary emulation of the sound that you would produce if you were trying to sound like a piece of music from a porno movie.

I remember rachael from friends using this "phrase" in like season 2 when referring to some porno movie music.

It wasn't coined by anybody. It just is.

Exactly. I've known people doing stuff like that since before the anyone even really used the Internet on a normal basis. It's not stolen from RvB in any sense.

Oh don't be too impressed, I know a person who does something other than play the crappy Halo 3 Beta in their mom's basement is kind of strange to you.

There is also a different video on the marketplace you can download but I was not impressed, very cheesy and therefore when the song they sing gets stuck in your head you want it to quit.

The "Bom Chicka Wah Wah" has been around since the 70's. See Urban Dictionary for definition:

You guys do know you're arguing about a phrase, and a silly one at that.

Anyway, @11, that girl is fine. Axe products still smell like sh!t to me though, I always laugh when I smell it on another guy and I think to myself, "Yeah right buddy."

Yeah, everyone I know thinks "Bom Chicka wah wah" was stolen from somewhere else, but it's pretty obvious. I was surprised to see the "Bom" version being more popular than the other two "Bow" versions, as I believe the "Bow" version is more accurate.

Infact, now that this started, I won't be surprised if some YouTuber decides to make a compliation of pornomatopias to make an entire "song"

Oh, and Omar, uuuum, seriosuly? I mean, this is a bit too easy. Don't you prefer to call people niggers on WoW or something... I mean, it's not like anyone actually reads these... Moron...

it's funny, you can really tell who the youngins are in here if they think this onomatopoeia is based off of some current youtube video or episode of friends.

don't get me wrong, i'm only in my 20's, but i've known the origin of this since my early teens and have used it on various occasions.

anyways, does anyone else see the hilarity in nerds arguing about porn? i feel like the consensus should be printed as scientific fact.

This reminds me of when some guy was accused of plagiarism on NewGrounds for "stealing" the devil vs angel consciouses from Family Guy, even though that has been used as far as anyone can remember. I've been saying bow chicka bow wow (not bom chicka wah wah) way before I saw this commercial at the theaters here in Norway, where it's also called Axe. I have no idea where I first heard it, however.

Idiots.

"Bom Chicka Wah Wah" was not "invented" by any of you dorks. It is onomatopoeia for the soundtrack to old 70s and 80s pornographic movies. For the literally-challenged of you, onomatopoeia is when you make a word from a sound, in this case the wah-wah guitars that were prevalent in old porn films.

It's not from Halo. It's not from the Axe guys. It's not from anything in the 21st century. It's from fricking THIRTY YEARS AGO, so just shut up, all of you.

Young people and their ignorance. I'm sure they find Mad TV cutting edge, too.

And no, RvB did not create "Bow Chicka Bow Wow". It's (kind of) the song for getting down. ;)

Bow chicka wow wow didn't start with Red Vs. Blue, it didn't really start anywhere. Its just that stripper music or porn music often had something that sounded adaptedly like that.

It appears the phrase was part of pop culture long before RvB (on friends, King of Queens, every time someone says porn the song starts in your head...) In any case, the video is nice (axebcww.com)

Yes, that whole bit is ancient.

This whole pile of comments reminds me of this one time about 15 years or so ago. I was at a friend's house. His little sister (around 13 yrs old) was hanging around. This was around the time that Kylie Minogue's remake of "Locomotion" was big.

While at my friend's place, the original "Locomotion" came on the radio. The little sister blurts out:

"I *hate* it when they remake songs!!!"

Moral of the story: The first time YOU hear it ISN'T necessarily the first time it's been done. :P

OK, I'm old - the pop culture reference comes from a stand up comedian's routine from the 90's that used to run on MTV's half hour comedy hour. Yes, you could say that it was an onomatopoeia, but no one used it until the comedian did the bit. Part of his routine was "you know when you hear that music someone's getting some - like when the gardner is in the kitchen and the housewife comes in... bow chicka wah wah - you know he could have drank from the hose."

Too bad that guy never got credit for the bit.
