Event Horizon was a great movie. Getting too scared to watch it till the end is no reason too rate it poorly. I'll sum up the parts you missed...

Ship = Evil
Eyes = you don't need them in the 5th dimension
Eye ball fingers = Awesome

Linkdead, your comment alone was enough to make me happy that I insulted Event Horizon. Funny stuff. Guys, if you're offended by my insinuation that it sucks (it does) feel free to replace it in your head with Alien vs. Predator.

It's one thing for the producers to have Paul on this movie. That's not so bad for them but it's awful for Paul. He needs to avoid video game and tie-in movies for a while so he can build up better credentials. Unlike that other guy who will not be mentioned, Paul can actually make competent movies. Not great movies, but competent ones. I like Soldier the best.

I also enjoyed Event Horizon. Just because you say it sucks doesn't mean it sucks. At least say "IMO" instead of trying to pass it off as fact.

I feel sorry for that little MG B in the picture there. What a terrible thing to do to the little Targa roadster.

Well it could be worse, Uwe springs to mind.

Also I too would like to say I kinda liked Event Horizon.

event horizon was awesome! it scared the shit out of me when i saw it. also soldier is one of my favorite "b-movies" ever.

but fairs, avp and RE sucked.

i think we're missing the main point though-- this isn't about the director, it's about the source material. i mean, spy hunter? i can hear the plot already:

a car with a mission... HUNTING SPIES!

yup, that's it. that's all i can think of. if they're going to make more crappy VG adaptations, at least adapt one with a story. what's next, Pac-Man the movie???

Yeah, good ol' PWS Anderson can actually make reasonable movies, but i will *never* forgive him for what he did to Resident Evil.
*never*.

Wow Justin you totally gave in. Just never pegged you for a quitter... or someone who would give any credit to a crappy movie... ;-)

I've never even seen Event Horizon, but the title reminds me of Stargate.

The reason Event Horizon is so much better than the rest of Paul's movies is because he didn't write the script. David Twohy did.

I thought Resident Evil was a great film (everyonelse I know didn't) and Apocalypse was good, can't wait for Exstinction. AVP was watchable. But if you want to complain about a VideoGame film it must be Doom.

The problem is they broke Spyhunter. The first PS2 remake was brilliant, one of my favourite games, but for SpyHunter2 they took out all the best bits (I couldn't bother completing it) and Nowhere to Run, I will not buy a Spyhunter game in which you run around as the Rock, they did that just because of this damned film, you can't run in Spyhunter. You can't run in Spyhunter. YOU CAN'T RUN IN SPYHUNTER!!!

mattclarkie, you're not the only one who thought that Resident Evil was a pretty decent flick. And unlike anything Uwe Boll has ever made, none of Anderson's films were tax shelters. Despite what you might think, Anderson keeps getting movies because he doesn't lose the studios any money.

Mortal Kombat was as faithful to the source material of the time as any film really has been, short of Silent Hill. It also was a decent chop-sockey flick. Resident Evil was scary where it should have been. It was an adaption of the ideas, not the exact plot....as if the plot of Resident Evil 1/2 was some brilliant piece of fiction (I mean, there's some good moments there...but explain to me how puzzles involving symbols into portraits of people getting older has anything to do with zombies?)

I never even saw AvP (as soon as I heard it wasn't based on the excellent Dark Horse Comic's series, I knew i wasn't interested), but the question of how good it actually was is moot: it grossed $80 million in the US alone, nearly double its budget. That makes producers happy.

Dead or Alive sounded like it would have a chance: Corey Yuen directed the Jet Li "Fong Sai Yuk" series...some of the most kick-ass kung-fu flicks EVAR. But boy, it looks BAD. Because ain't nobody perfect.

I think you all are missing the point. Justin is just saying Paul Anderson directed Event Horizon, but crossed it out because it wasn't part of the bad movies listed in his column.

Viva la resistance! Come on guys we got Event Horizon crossed off the list lets all rally behind another movie now!

Alien vs. Predator is a fine masterpiece with rich detailed plot, incredible acting, stunning special effects, and a regular player in the FX lineup.

Resident Evil is still the only video game movie I own. RE:Apocalypse sucked for many many reasons but I'd still watch that for 24 hours straight before a -single- viewing of any Uwe Boll film. Bloodrayne is quite possibly the worst movie ever made except it has boobies which rates it 1 point higher than absolute zero.

Hey the forst Resident Evil movie was pretty darn good!

And if you freeze frame it you can see full frontal Milla Jovovich nudity - just that redeems it.

The problem I think many people had is that it strayed too far from the VG, but on it's own merits it's pretty good. Besides, I thought RE4 was a bigger departure from the RE world (gothy?!? DMC like?)
