'Broad new content' on Xbox Marketplace? No kidding!
42
Xbox Live Marketplace will soon offer content from CMT, the nation's top country music station and Logo, the lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender network, along with a slew of other content. Yeah, they're definitely going for a demographic spread -- although there is always that gay cowboy demographic (coincidentally Brokeback Mountain is available on HD DVD and not Blu-ray).
MTV owns both CMT and Logo, and following the success of their MTV, Comedy Central and VH1 brands on the Xbox Live service, decided to expand. CMT, beginning June 6, will offer Comedy Stage, Foxworthy's Big Night Out and Prankville. Logo, beginning June 11, will offer Noah's Arc (pictured), Wisecrack and Curl Girls. There will also be many Anime offerings including the HD version of Anime classic Akira and other properties of ADV Films (Samurai 7, Last Exile).
And you, and you, and you, you're gonna maybe love Dreamgirls, Pan's Labyrinth and other movies coming to the marketplace this month. More details can be found at the Xbox site. A demographic spread in content is always a good thing for consumers and for business.

Too bad none of these appeal to me either way keep bringing it Microsoft. Now that I have the Daily Show and The Colbert Report I just want Scrubs and the Soup (I know it won't happen).

Wow, the homophobia in these comments is really appalling, if unsurprising. Hopefully one of these days, you guys will grow up and be ashamed about what you're writing here. And andapaul, to paraphrase, I'm sorry, I just find you disgusting. Someone let you into college?

@kevin
Why the hell would someone playing Gears of war give a rats ass about drapes enough to comment about them in game. When was the last time you heard a girl playing gears of war asking you about suggestions for a new blouse she wanted???
Chances are if your the type of guy playing gears of war, drapes are the very least of your concerned. Most gay gamers only care about pwnzing just like all other gamers out there.

I'm looking forward to the new HD movies. The wife and I had been meaning to rent Pan's Labyrinth. Now we can watch it in HD. I might give Black Snake Moan a look, too.
I have no problem with the marketplace expanding their content. If you don't want to watch a show, don't click on it.

I once told a severely homophobic guy that I thought that homosexuality is genetic and that they probably can't do much about it. He vehemently disagreed and insisted it was a choice. I said, "How do you know unless you've had those feelings yourself?" If a friend hadn't interceded, he would have hit me--but I still believe that homophobes are closet homosexuals.
So enjoy the new content, fellas. Only Bill Gates will know how many times you've watched Brokeback Mountain.

andapaul,
I want to know who is "pushing it on people in music, movies etc..".
Last I checked, you have the right to change the channel or the radio station, and the right to not download something you don't agree with. Your Rush Limbaugh station is just a few stations away.

Brokeback Mountain was released on HD DVD because Focus Features is a NBC/Universal company and Universal has sided with HD-DVD in the format war.

Ok here is what I'm seeing here:
First people complain that they dont want to talk to, associate with, or have anything to do with gays.
Next Companies like Microsoft, MTV (Logo), and sites like gaygamers.net and gaymer.org provide gays with an alternative section where they can go to be away from you...
And you still bitch!!?? The truth is homophobes aren't making any sense at all. They are running their own brains in mindless circles (no pun intended).

andapaul, I don't think you're gay. That's just silly. I just, well, _observe_ that you do nothing but talk about gay people. And how you're constantly running into them. You apparently can get away from them, stop watching movies and tv shows about them, or just go on every forum you can find to tell us that they're sick and you're definitely not gay. I don't know how they got some crazy "Dude he's probably gay" idea.
And do note: most racist people don't fixate on BET all day or hang out around black people all day. Most people who regarded this behavior would construe that the person harbored special feelings towards black people, and was just using their racism as a clever way to associate with the people they "hate". If simply didn't like them, they would just avoid them.
Bye, cupcake.

But seriously, there aren't roughly a million jokes about logo going through everyone's head, gay and straight, right now?

Gay content on X-box live? This is the only reason I have to buy an X-box now. Do I have to have a credit card to download shows? Does the 360 have a connection for a wired network?
As a gay gaymer ...(HA! ha! firefox 2 , ah! there it goes again!...has a built in spell checker and doesn't know the term 'gaymer' or 'firefox' LOL ) anyway...
As a gay gaymer, i should point out that Noa's Arc is a show about black gay guys, which is such an under-represented demo. Black culture can be so much more homophobic. It will probably be easier for allot of younger gay black guys to get this show through X-box than anywhere else. Also for all the kids in the closet who's parents control their cable. So it's great that micro-soft has done this.
Ryan.

If they do that, my biggest fear is if their parents are homphobic and find it >.< I can't see that going very well for the poor kid...
And all you anti-gay people need help, serriously... How can you live with all that hate? O.o

Noah's Arc is a bad show. It's like Queer as Folk except there are few / no white guys. It's quite ironic because QaF has few / no minorities.

@Ryan: You don't need a credit card, you would just have to buy MS Points at a local store (such as Walmart or Target). There are perantal controls on the Xbox, but I'm sure most parents are ill informed (especially in controlling a Live Account, as a Silver Account is free and lets you download with points). Noah's Arc is not worth it... but I love Margaret Cho and some of the other comedians on Wisecrack and The Big Gay Sketch Show is good... (Do You Have a PocketGay Friend Yet?)
