According to Jeux-France (who cite rumors that "appear credible"), Nintendo is planning to drop several bombs at the upcoming min-E3 in mid-July. Release dates for Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Mario Galaxy will be divulged, and the company will also unveil the next Mario Kart game for Wii. Also on the mystery roster is a vague hardware-related announcement that Jeux-France describes as a "large revelation". Could it be the Nintendo Revolution headset we've been waiting for?!
Release dates for Smash Bros. and Mario Galaxy are a no-brainer, and even our grandmother could tell you that Nintendo is working on another Mario Kart game. But with the company's other major franchises already dominating the scene, is it too early to show off another big gun?

You must really like jaggies then, the 360's DVD playback is notoriously bad.
"With a name like: GodisaMyth, I don't know why I feel like I should feed you with opinions, but what the Hell..."
What's with the personal insult? Because I have a different opinion than you I am wrong? Typical, so quick to judge, so closed a mind.

My friends don't have any interest in the Wii. Is it that hard to understand that there are many people out there that don't like the Wii? You know opinions."
I whine and complain that the intelligence level of the comments section of Joystiq is going in the shitter. All people do on this site is go straight into any Nintendo thread and spread as much hate as they can.
Why hate? You're supposed to be some sort of gamer, why not enjoy games?
I also didn't say that your "friends" didn't like the Wii. Hell I don't care if they like or don't like it.

And how are the angry marines in different games different? Mario is Mario, but he has a huge supporting cast and play largely differently.
Seriously do they even seriously bother to differentiate thenearly faceless shooter badass? So what if they look a bit different and have a different name. They have little in motive, actions, or purpose that vary them ,so they might as well be the same person.

I didn't say your friend's opinions are wrong. I just merely stated that you probably don't have any friends.
The Wii is definitely a party machine. And if you don't think so... please tell me what games 4 people can play (and enjoy) on the 360/Xbox or PS3/PS2, and I could probably counter it with about 5 games on the Wii/Gamecube

by HD I meant harddrive support
the launch lineup was weak sauce. the best game for Wii at launch was a gamecube port with shoehorned wiimote control. Too many ports and shovelware. I did enjoy Wiisports and Excitetruck though but they suffered because of....
No online support. Online support increases the longevitity of a title if done well. Look at Resistance. I would have never played that game as long as I have (still playing it after 3 months) if not for the online play which is grade a-kick ass awesome. If online is so insignificant, then why include it with DS? I'll say it again there are too many games that suffer on Wii because of no online
ExciteTruck
Tony Hawk
Marvel Alliance
Wiisports
SSX Blur
CoD 3
Even Red Steel and I hate that game.
No achievements, no online leaderboards no ranking system of any kind, no lobby, nothing...What's the point of getting awesome achievements in Excitetruck if no one knows about it?
Don't get me wrong. I like the Wii for its potential. But nintendo blew it in many areas. they're not going to listen to us, the diehards, because the Wii is selling. But it was Nintendo that said no game drought, it was Nintendo that said great games have to be released year round, it was Nintendo that said that online for Wii is very important, it was Nintendo that thought bullshit friend codes were a great idea.
But even with all of that, Nintendo still did something right because MS is mumbling about motion controllers and Sony already jumped on the bandwagon with the ass-axis.

Actually I would agree with you there. In another post from yesterday I got into an argument with what appears to be be one of the dumbest people I have ever encountered on the web.
Personally I think people should require licenses and meet age limits before they are allowed to post on the web. And I fully support capitol punishment for breaking those rules.
But hey...maybe that's just me. =)

That's the image Nintendo is trying to paint for the Wii. Everyone together and having a good time. The commercials focus on people together, making the gestures and having fun. Very little time is spent showing the game itself.
In Ken's defence, I have had the same experience. When I have people over for a few drinks, we always end up playing Wii. Even my non-gaming friends love it. That never happened with the gamecube. Now all I need are more games that I can enjoy by myself.

I'd say that if someone posts some random garbage on the site; Joystiq should load a virus on their computer.
My idea first... And if I patent it, I might be able to sue a company later on!

I have no hate towards anyone on a anonymous blog like this one. I just do not understand the love affair with the Wee, so I use some banter and sarcasm in my posts. Yes, I want a reaction, maybe some banter back or some harmless smack talk. To me it makes reading these posts more fun.
I have tried the vanilla posts before...but I never get an answer that makes sense to me so now I choose to use sarcasm and banter and low and behold...I get responses back and I get a good laugh.
There are many "trolls" that are on the PS3 sites that I go to and they say some insulting things about the PS3. And you know what? People that support the PS3 get all hot and bothered by it and I just start a post war back and forth with them and I get a good laugh. My workday is long and visiting sites like these for gaming news and reading peoples posts make the day go by a little quicker.
Maybe just for shock value I will post with no sarcasm or banter once in a while...just to keep things interesting.

I misunderstood the HD, but even including a larger hard drive isn't essential. Again, if it is included, price goes up.
I still think the launch line up was one of the best ever. I don't care that Zelda was originally intended for the cube. After trying the Wii controls, there was no going back. I tried to play Legend of Zelda: Master Quest on the cube after and it just didn't feel the same.
I don't want to belittle online. I think it is important, but waiting 8 months to launch it in North America is not a big deal. I agree that some of those games would have benefitted from some online multiplayer action, but a game like Wii Sports online would not compare with having friends over to play.
I'm not a blind fanboy who thinks Nintendo can do no wrong, but I am impressed with how much they have done right so far.

I've owned every Nintendo home console released in America and several different flavors of Game Boys. I'm SO freaking tired of the same games being recycled and resold over and over and over and over again. People complain about sequels with EA and how they milk franchises, but with Nintendo we are supposed to get down on our knees and thank god that they repackaged the same game that is two decades old and got us to buy a slightly updated and tweaked version of it.
I've been doing it since the NES days, and I'm over it. I am NOT going to pay premium prices for rehased games no matter how much nostalgia I feel for the good old days. That is exactly what is going on here.
People defend Nintendo for rehashing because of the supposed quality of the games, but most of their games aren't as good as people make them out to be. The Wii is just a rehash of Gamecube releases and the Gamecube for me was the least interesting console out of the last generation. I'm not going through that again.
Keep plunking down your money for Pokemon Party Kart Sunshine, but you won't see me doing it.

Good for you. At least you didn't go around and swear up and down that the games suck and all that.
At least you understand that your tastes are much different from the next person next to you.
I enjoy almost every Mario game that came out, so I'll continue to buy them when they come out. When I start finding a trend of bad games, then I'll be alot more leary about purchasing them.
Until then, I'll enjoy them. :)

If you are that unsatisfied with Nintendo and their Mario franchise, then don't buy it. It's that simple. No one's forcing you to buy a Wii and the Mario games. It's really a simple concept. There shouldn't even be 100+ replies of people complaining and defending Nintendo's decision to bring out another Mario game.
I mean, what do you REALLY expect from Nintendo? Mario is their franchise/bread and butter. You will ALWAYS see a ton of Mario games and you'll ALWAYS see at least 2 Zelda titles on the console, and in the Wii's case, we'll most likely see another 2 in the consoles life.
That's how it's always been and will continue to be as long as the franchises bring in money. And when it doesn't, it will stop(much like the Star Fox series people complained about not having).
Seriously, people need to think. This is Nintendo. This is what they do.
And why is Joystiq so damn negative? Everytime I see a Nintendo news post, 20-50 trolls come out of no where and just tear it down for no reason. This is worse than Youtube's comment section..

They are not an employee at a video game store so he/she can be as biased as he/she wants to be about any game and it shouldn't bother you. If you like the game, great, if someone else doesn't and they say it sucks...then to them it sucks.

I've been saying that in my past 10 or so posts.
Because I think it's stupid to say a game sucks before it comes out. If he would have said: "Mario Galaxy sucks! It's just like the other 100+ Mario games!" I would have called him out on his bullshit.

Wow...
all I can think of reading the comments on this article is:
"Arguing online is like competing in the special olympics. Even if you win, you're still retarded."
With that, I think I'll just say I hope they stick to the game mechanics from Mariokart 64, but add some more interesting levels and characters.
I found that Double Dash was downright aggravating. The DS version was close enough to the 64 version to still be enjoyable, but I had some major issues with the items. It's practically better to be in 2nd or 3rd place for the main part of the course than it is to be in first. I hope those issues will be smoothed out by the time this hits game time.

Why? They tell by the truckload! Have you noticed how much the price of DS games has jumped in the last couple years? They still sell by the truckload!
*3:24: "#8. who the f*ck cares. Nintendo sucks all u do is come out with the same games over and over."
Nintendo always licenses their franchises out to other developers and saves their own dev teams for the new IPs. It's easy, cheap profit to have someone else do your dirty work.
Now, if people were more critical in their buying decisions, the sequels would stop. But, no, they sell by the truckload.

You are by far the worst poster on Joystiq. You are nearly as bad as a dude on IGN who replaced all his 'r's with 's's in his posts so as to sound 'individual' but you're well on your way to obtaining his crown.
As for MarioKart#547 blah blah blah.... What do you think will be the biggest sellers on the other platforms in the next year or so? I'm going with Halo3, GTA4, FFXIII, DMC4, MGS4, GTA4, Gears2, GH3, Madden/FIFA/Tiger2008, DQ(I forget)....need I go on?
It's almost like companies like to release sequels to highly proftable games, go figure!
@ sheppy
I find the SIXAXIS to be a bit archaic and if I'm being honest I thought its near identical little brother wasn't even the best controller in the PS1/N64 gen. The D-pad having preference over the analogue for me is such a fundamental mistake in design that it is insulting to a modern gamer who likes to play games in 3D.
The absence of rumble is well documented and a step back and the SIXAXIS was a blatant but failed attempt to copy N's homework 5 minutes before class. It is so light that you'd be forgiven for thinking you're holding a product made by Matel or Fisherprice instead of the interface to a 600 dollar piece of equipment.
Finally, dont know if it's just me but when playing Motorstorm I felt that when I fully depressed the shoulder button to accelerate it required so much pressure that the controller started to slip downward out of my hands. Maybe it just needed broken in?
Anyway your opinion is fair enough but just thought you should know that for every person like you who loves it there is likely someone like me who cant stand the think.
P.S. MKWii better be in a different league from the opitomy of mediocraty that was MKDD! I would also love to see old tracks included ala MKDS.

What some people need to realise is that companies rehash the "same old game" every couple of years because there are always new gamers coming in. Remember how you were excited when you were younger and the whole thing was new to you? The industry does not revolve around veterans who have been gaming for years, then complain when a game is:
a) too similar to its predecessor
b) too different (and then proceed to complain that it should have been more similar to it's predecessor)

@Burnt Meatloaf
I wasn't saying anything bad about the Wii. I love the Wii. I was saying that it makes Nintendo look bad when they produce a great idea for a console and then most of their first-party games don't do anything with that idea.
All Nintendo has done so far has been to rehash the same games (3D Zelda, Mario Party, Paper Mario, Strikers, Smash Bros., Metroid Prime, now Mario Kart) and add a controller scheme which those games were never designed for in the first place.
I have nothing against a game starring Mario, but make a new franchise that is based around the controls of the Wii, like Super Mario Paintball or something, with the Wii aiming your paintball gun.
I support the Wii, but I do not support the crapload of rehashed games and ports currently on the Wii. There are some new games breaking the mold (Boogie for instance), but Nintendo needs to lead the way, just like they did for the N64 when they produced new games (even though they had the same characters) that focused around the controls for the N64.
Super Mario 64, Ocarina of Time and Super Smash Bros. are all excellent examples of new games with old characters that broke the mold and helped show everyone why the analog stick was a good idea. I'm waiting for Nintendo to do the same for the Wii...
...that and a new Star Fox game.

You know WHY they come out with new entries in old series (I'm not going to say rehash because none of the Mario Karts play like each other at all)? Because if they didn't, people would freak out and whine that they aren't being loyal to their fanbase. But then the ol' negative retards that exist here complain anyway when they do bring them out because "lolol theyr just addin waggle" which is absolutely retarded.
Rehash Paper Mario? Are you absolutely BLIND? Super Paper Mario couldn't be more different from the other two. It's a PLATFORMER. They were RPG'S. It's like 99% of you people don't even know what the term rehash means!
Strikers is rehashed? So, adding new characters, new stadiums, new gameplay abilities and a new control method is just rehashing?
I mean, my GOD, I knew gamers had dropped to a whole new level of retardosity but this site and all of its people RADIATE it.
Go ahead, keep complaining and being contradictory freaks. I'm going to go have actual fun with my games instead of being Super Analyst Jr.

Personally I thought Mario Kart: Double Dash was fun as hell, and I thought it had a lot more to offer course wise than any previous attempts. This isn't to say that it was perfect or that there weren't any lame courses, but overall I thought it was the best of them all and I played the hell out of it (multiplayer, of course) months and months. My only concern is that Nintendo will leave out online, which would be one of the worst mistakes in recent memory. Pretty hard to imagine more fun than Mario Kart online with 8 or more players!
