Rumor: E3 to bring Smash Bros, Mario Galaxy release dates, Mario Kart Wii to be unveiled
According to Jeux-France (who cite rumors that "appear credible"), Nintendo is planning to drop several bombs at the upcoming min-E3 in mid-July. Release dates for Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Mario Galaxy will be divulged, and the company will also unveil the next Mario Kart game for Wii. Also on the mystery roster is a vague hardware-related announcement that Jeux-France describes as a "large revelation". Could it be the Nintendo Revolution headset we've been waiting for?!

I'd say they want to start providing the bigger guns on a more regular basis. That way if a game pulls a Super Mario Sunshine, we're not waiting five years for a do over.

Uh, no. At this point the Wii needs any and every game it can get, regardless of whether that distracts people from the 3-4 big first party titles coming out in the next year.

I'm really getting tired of Mario Kart games. I got the one on the DS thinking that maybe it'll be new and interesting with DS controls... nope. Basically the same thing with a couple of gimmicky things just thrown in there. Maybe the Wii will be different, but I don't see it.
Nintendo really needs to focus on new types of games that actually use their control system. I mean, when games made by EA are making more inventive use of your controls than your first-party games, something's wrong...

I'm thinking Nintendo wants to focus on introducing new IPs in 2008 and beyond and a few marquee sequels sprinkled in. So why not keep the momentum going for the diehard Nintendo fans with SSBB,Galaxy and MK-Wii in 07?
I would love some USB HDD support though...

Personally, it felt like it could have been a 64 game and I just got sick of collecting shit. I think I could go back to it now though since much time has passed and I jonesing for a good platformer.

It seemed unfocused. I mean, you're Mario but you're running around and talking to people? The level designs were, for the most part, lame. The depth of field was way too shallow and the whole sunshine aspect of the game wasn't neat and clever, but fucking annoying as it washed out colors and generally assaulted your optical nerves. The SOLE redeeming factor for the game was the Old School challenges. Super Mario Sunshine was the bastard offspring of the much better Super Mario 64. And because it was the only trad Mario, Sony uncontestedly won the platformers war last gen. Granted, Sony had some pretty damn good platformers but still.
I shit on SMS because SMS shat on me.

Nintendo showed a couple of new Ip's at last years E3..Project Hammer, Disaster: Day of Crisis, and Forever Blue. In the Gamecube they introduced Pikmin and Animal Crossing. I don't see a problem with nintendo using their old ips just as long as they make great games w/ them and keep coming up with new types of games which they do. People need to stop cryin about Nintendo using their old characters because all of the games they use w/ those characters are great. And they still are coming up w/ new games...

Mario Kart for Wii + Online Mode would be amazing. The game on NDS plays very well and I think everyone would enjoy Mario Kart on the Wii. Just please, make sure the drift is there...
I think Nintendo (of the big 3) has the best and most evenly timed release of big hits, leading all the way to the holiday season. A big title roughly 1/month that will keep people thinking of Wii. They will probably release these titles separate from each other by 2 months or so, but sandwich Halo 3 and GTAIV, so that before those you have maybe SSBM, and after those release you have Super Mario Galaxie.

Pokemon Dash, Mario Party 8, and Luigi's Mansion beg to differ. And let's not forget Nintendo still hasn't delivered a playable Starfox in how long?

They are risking annoying the 3rd party developers if they bring out too many 1st party AAA games too quickly.
While it might be good for nintendo in the short term, they'll make more profit and sell more wiis, The casual Wii owners aren't gonna buy as many games per console as the hardcore 360/PS3 owners.. and if nintendo continues to get all the sales then the third parties are gonna abandon it. That will kill the Wii, long term.
That was what happened to the Gamecube.. it sold great initially, but owners only bought 1st party titles.. so the 3rd party developers abandoned it. ANd a console can't sell without games...

Too long. The first to Star Fox games were brilliant... but everything after that was, well, less than brilliant.
I could be wrong about this, but weren't the first two made by Rare and then Nintendo took over after that? I can't remember exactly.

I still see where you're coming from. How about this. I need a Mario Kart that has a better sense of speed at 150CC and better AI. the computer is ridiculously easy to beat in MK:DS on any level and on any track. I need track design that's a bit more imaginative. Some of the tracks on MK:DS were great fun but too many others were lame.

Am I the only one that misses the battle sequences in the original StarFox that allowed you to fly through enemy warships and gave a great sense of scale when the big Space Whales and ships were close by? why are our StarFox games so slow? Can we get some speed and real weapon upgrades?

Hmm... never heard of Agronaut. But they made a fine game. I still think that Star Fox had the best idea for difficulty levels ever. Different paths for each, some overlapping. You could play the game a dozen times and have completely different experiences. We need more games like that.

Totally agree on the starfox front. BTW, Starfox on SNES was Nintendo 1st party, as was Starfox 64. Dinosaur Planet wasn't a starfox game at all, it was an original IP that was acquired and shoehorned into starfox (ala Mario 2/USA). Starfox Assault was made by namco, and was good except for the ground missions, which I couldn't stand. Finally, Starfox command was great (loved the tactical portion), except that all the levels started feeling the same about halfway through. It had great replay value, with a branching storyline and 9 different endings, as well as online play. It also controls the best, in my opinion, out of all of them. I would like to get a mix of the new school "all range mode" mixed in with the old school rail shooter, or make a starfox "freespace" where its a traditional space flight sim ala X-wing or Tie Fighter. I'd rather have the former.
And for god's sake, can we get the musical style back from the SNES starfox. I hate the Starfox 64 theme that has perpetuated through all the successor starfox games.
So ends my starfox rant.

First Starfox was Argonaut but published by Nintendo. Nintendo, meanwhile, deved Starfox 64. Those were the two best and in my opinion, the two playable.
Rare handled Starfox Adventures but as stated here, Starfox was wedged into that game.
Starfox Assault was Namco and was horrible. Flight sections were uninspired and forcing players to balance sky and ground was a bad idea when they ruined the Rogue Leader series with it.
Starfox Command was Argonaut again. But controls blew, the command section required intimate knowledge of the levels later on, and the story flat out sucked. I mean, seriously. What is the point of forcing us to dredge through page after page of "How the fox team broke up" if all conflicts and stories were resolved with...
Fox: Hey, we need you're help.
Any Character: You got it, Fox.
Not to mention restricting resources like Time was a tragic idea.
Basically, Nintendo doesn't even know what they want to do with Starfox. I'd say bring it back to basics but people complain about the elngth of games nowadays, I don't think a rail shooter could be released without the bitchers tearing it apart. Maybe after I'm done with my Shump, I'll give a railshooter a try on development.

dude, the soundtrack in StarFox on SNES is THE best of the series. Especially the end theme. Starfox on DS was weird. As I was playing through it, I really starting loving the controls and the RTS side of the game. But just when you expected the story and gameplay to really take off...it was over. It just wasn't deep enough. Star Adventures is a debacle that can be laid at Miyamoto's feet. He was the one that told Rare to make Dinosaur Planet, StarFox Adventures. Graphically, the game really does showoff what the GC can do but you can tell the game was thrown together at the end when you never actually fight General Scales.
Starfox is a series that has lost its way and Nintendo hasn't done anything to regain that lost magic of the original.
