My advice to anyone who likes the xbox 360 gaming console.
Purchase atleast 2 of them.
Get the longest warranty you can on both.
Then, when one crashes, simply spend all your free time calling Microsoft to have it sent off, and use the other one.
Surely, McAllen Texas Refurbishing, Refurbising, Refurbishing center can keep atleast one system at a time working.
The xbox 360 should come in 2 packs. 1 to use and one to ship to repair.

[[Is anyone here familiar with less reliable electronics than those Microsoft has produced in this console this generation? I've never heard of worse.]]

Hal 9000.

Seriously though: I was pretty even-handed between the three next-gen systems, althought I didn't want a Wii right away and I thought the PS3 was waaay too expensive. The XboX had the right power at the right price. After getting rid of three, well, let's say 'boXes, I didn't want to deal with a fourth. Every time you open one up, you expect it to be the last time, and it's not the last time. You shouldn't be thinking about electronics like that if you have to deal with it like that in your mind. Every crash downed my spirit and when I had no choice but to get another one, and I got angrier and angrier. I don't want to say the XboX is crap as a whole, the GPU is solid, but the XboX is constructed with inferior techniques.

I got my PS3 and although I haven't ran home yet, I played this thing for hours and hours, and my roommate plays for hours and hours while I'm at work, and we never had a problem. The worst thing that happened to it was me jacking around with it ignorantly. When I first got it and I didn't know how to do upgrades, I turned it off or reset it or something I wasn't supposed to do, and although that should've wrecked it, all it did was reset, and I downloaded successfully. If you have it in "sleep mode" (what I call it when the red light is on) you can even turn it on and off using the sixaxis like a remote control.

I don't regret getting a PS3 over the 360; the 360 had it's chance to wow me and sadly, and yet not sadly, it failed me miserably. The PS3 may not have many games now, but it does have games, and the volume will change. At least I can fall asleep with my PS3 on and not worry about it killing me in my sleep.

Now the only thing I worry about is if I will PSWii or not...

@46

Agreed. The reason why people keep on returning their 360's is not because their loyal fans or dumbasses, it's because the 360 is still the best console out there. Most people would rather go through the hell Microsoft puts them through then pay $600 for a ps3.

Personally, I think this is a manufacturer problem... I've had my 360 since April '06, and I've never had a problem. I carry my 360 to my friends' houses atleast every weekend, and it has had no problems. It makes no sense that people taking perfect care of their systems are having them die, while people abusing them (two people I know, Jon and Luke) are constantly abusing them, and have them lasting forever... I was disgusted to see brown smears and stick crap all over Jon's 360... He doesn't take care of it, at all, and it's lasted since launch.

I think it has to do with a problem with a manufacturer.. it's the only thing that makes sense to me..

Getting a "coffin" was never an option given to me, and I even asked if they would mail me a box. They told me I had to box and ship the thing myself. Cost me ~$30 to have it boxed and shipped at a UPS center. I live in California.

I bought a x360 on release that froze all the time, repaired it and then sold it spring '06. Then i bought another one in September '06 when i started getting interested in some of the games that were upcoming. It also froze all the time, got sent in for repairs and now i am on my third box. I am constantly afraid that it will start freezing too, or that i'll get the red ring of death.

Ok thers is too much nub cake being eaten here right now. First off I just finished reading something about PS3 not getting hotter than 360?. PS3's get about 2 times hotter first off. You ever pick one of those fuckers up while it's on? Second off M$ sucks at building hardware plain and simple. the systems are great but they break for alot off goofs out there. and I mean goofs, I have had mine for more than 12 months probably put about 7000 hours or more into it and its fine. Like I said, bunch of goofs.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH, this is the second broken down xbox 360 ive had in 13 months. by the way the second breakdown just missed the warranty by 26 days. the first time i sent in my box for repair the very polite person on the phone told me she would send me a warranty with my new box(never happened). the supervisor on the phone is letting me get my repairs for 50 percent off, but regardless why is a four hundred and fifty dollar machine breaking down two times a year. this is the only appliance i ever purchased that has malfunction like this. tv,microwave, dishwasher whatever nothing has broken down like the xbox 360. my friend down the street his x box also has broke down. this is too much of a occurence for us to be paying a hundred and forty dollars every two years if that. if you go on xbox live, get in a lobby and ask players has there xbox 360 ever broke down you will hear multiple replies of yes.im thinking class action suit, i dont want triple my investment but i do want a working xbox without coming out of my pocket ever coulpe of years. microsoft is aware of the problem also, thats why they extended the original warranty. if anything fix my xbox for free. the 360 breaks down so much, i know yours will FREEZE UP over time.

My Launch xbox 360 failed on me yesterday, ring of death.
I started noticing problems a few months ago when my games started to freeze.
Especially annoyed, while I was playing forza 2 on an important event and suddenly at the last lap the game freezes.
I was also using after market cooling kits for the 360 but it made no difference.
Every Xbox 360 will eventually fail some day in the future, I looked after my console its just the curse of the advanced technology they are using in their xbox 360 but it still does not a give reason for a looked aftered console to fail.

p.s. My Playstation 1 it still working and I bought on launch day (many years ago)

My bloody 360 died yesterday and after reading the sites upon sites of 360s failing i think me and thousands of other people just lost alot of respect for microsoft (way to go you dolts). Its nice and all that most of the time the repairs are free, but if your gonna buy one and are to stupid to either research a little about the 360 or just hear from others that its a lemon, then its your own fault for not getting a warranty if you didnt. You know what this ring of death issue is....RIDICULOUS. Its as bad as the exploding gas tanks that came on pintos, or the fact that ford exploders came with fautly tires that blew up. Honestly If your a Gamer, just get a computer, not only can you do everything the xbox does and craploads more, but games are cheaper, easier to play with a mouse, Rarely ever break with the right spyware and virus protection installed on it and last wayyyy longer. -werd
