Guitar Hero 80s trailer is really quite tubular
covered-in-Lisa-Frank-stickers trailer for Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s most certainly does. It's not even up for debate. The rockitude is a foregone conclusion. So, what does this this trailer provide us besides a hankering for some Reaganomics, a slap bracelet and a kilo of white pony?
Well, not only do we get to see some of the retro versions of some favorite thrashers, we also get the announcement of a new song: "We Got the Beat" (presumably) in the style of the Go-Gos. Now are you ready to rock?

...was the Grim Ripper wearing 3D glasses and a Flava Flav clock in that video? =^O.o^=

The music from that decade needs to be systematically removed from all existence and reference. This is not helping.

Spoken like a true moron!!!!
I never picked up GHII, but I played the hell out of the first one. The sequel just didn't seem to have that many songs that I actually cared for. To me, a guy in his mid-30's this is a lot more appealing. I wish they'd also do a 70's version with a bunch of stadium rock from that era.
Anyway, this can't come out soon enough for me.

Why yes...... I do wanna rock!!!

I thought slap bracelets were from the 90's... idk, I could be wrong.

All I want to know is when it's coming out for 360. Announce it already!

I LOVE THE PMRC reference on the Grave stone at 50 seconds!
THis game is going to rock - the music truely does.
Now only question is - is the backing track from Twisted sister or is the re-record that REd Octaine/Harmonix usually do?
WHEN IS IT COMING OUT!!!!

I believe the game is scheduled for the end of July for a release date. I can't wait to play with a whole new set of songs on the PS2. Anyone know if there's going to be more than the 30 scheduled tracks (any unlockables like the previous 2 games)?

I think I'll pass and wait for the 90's version. God I hate the 80's.
Meliv @ Jun 6th 2007 8:28PM
Here's a question, how does an expansion pack work on a PS2 game?
Kyattsuai @ Jun 6th 2007 10:18PM
I'm sure it'll be a standalone game, but it's just considered an expansion because it's not as complete as a normal Guitar Hero game, with only 30 songs. Hell, judgding from the video, it only has about 6 characters too.

Ya know what's retro,oy but made just last year? The psycho-thriller anime When They Cry or Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, since the setting is in the early 80s, oy. Plus people stabbing each other to death because of a town's curse (The story is deeper than dead sea, oy.) Trust me.

I love 80's music and can't wait to play this. That said, this trailer really didn't do much for me.
They didn't focus in on anything long enough for me to see what was different (other than the song, of course) and it was hard to say if some of the lighting and such was a part of the stages or just trailer effects...
...that, and "I Wanna Rock" is one of the songs I'm least looking forward to.
Joe Smith @ Jun 7th 2007 12:08PM
You know, I didn't really enjoy the 80's much -- a musical wasteland for the most part. I can't see paying to relive them.

You had me at Twisted Sister.
