This one literally just came in -- Konami has released a new trailer for Metal Gear Solid 4 and PlayFrance has the scoop. The trailer is similar to the E3 one released last year, but has a ton of additional content and has been remastered using the newest version of the MGS 4 engine, leading to a ton of little visual improvements. Animations, particle effects and over-all graphic fidelity have all definitely increased with this newest trailer - the scene where Old Snake puts the gun to his mouth, in particular, showcases some incredible lighting effects. It's great to see Konami hasn't been resting on their laurels, this new trailer shows a clear and marked improvement to a game that already looked amazing. The trailer ends with confirmation that the game will be coming out in 2007 - naysayers be damned.
The new trailer clocks in at over 13 minutes in length and what a blissful 13 minutes they are. The final scene with Raiden is incredible and worth the time investment by itself. What are you doing? Check it out NOW -- it demands your attention.
*Updated with embedded video - no more waiting for 20 minutes of buffering to watch some hot Snake action* Thanks for the headsup Humpty!
Thats really good to see the 2007 release date. This game looks better and better, I think it has a really good chance of beating halo 3. Especially now that HAlo 3 doesnt look to visually impressive.
dope... i am at work and cant even watch this freakin thing cuz of websence, damn you, but i am giddy with exitement all will run home. cant wait i remember the e3 trailer. ohhh giddy.
this... looks the same as the first long trailer I saw, with the same dialogue. I can't wait for this game either, but I don't see what makes this "newer." Does it have better lighting and detail? I may need a side by side comparison.
If I'm correct... and I think I am - cuz I've watched this a bagazillion times, I think they added a few bits of new dialogue, and the translations are a bit different. I don't think they ever used the big word 'averted' in the first one.
And you definitely see much more finer details.
Eh, after the hour of loading, stick it on a usb, and shove it into your monolith for some upscaled action =). Beauuuuutiful.
Or... use the DLNA thing, which I haven't bothered to set up =/ I should really do that sometime.
The two videos are not the same. I compared the two videos and there are only slight differences. For instance, look at the smoke that's rising when Snake first encounters those "mooing" creatures. (when they jump away). It looks better. ricochet of bullets looks a lot better also. That's about as far as i got since its so slow
This trailer was amazing, it they made a movie out of this it would be an oscar winner.
One good thing from MGS (Apart that they graphics will be better than halo ones because they always used al the ps2 power so i think they would use at least the 50% of the ps3 power) is their story is not the unreal tournament, doom copy of the aliens coming to invade the planet, is a story better elaborated than a movie one.
Are PS3 owners really so threatened by Halo 3 that they need to proclaim every PS3 exclusive game a Halo 3 killer? It's rather said and gives one the impression that PS3’s owners aren’t content with their console.
I already have a 360, will be getting a PS3 but probably not MGS4 as only the first MGS really grabbed me and that was it for my espionage days.
I hope this isn't rushed to jump start the PS3's sales.
I hope this is the last MGS game featuring these characters as I wouldn’t mind a change of universe and personnel.
You can spot the differences mostly with the sand and rubble that fly when the legged machines pound the ground.
My beef with the trailer still lies in these couple things: Watermelon bounces like pebbles. Colonels face is too solidified... maybe not enough facial expression? Snake's skin is too plastically white in the helicopter. The leg machines' lift off .. like bending your knees before you jump... isn't proportional to their height.
Haha but I still love trailer. Just if someone reads at hideo's lab, maybe some things could be fixed =D!
And i was wrong up there about the change of dialogue =P There isn't ahah.
OH last thing. 2007 thing was there since the last trailer. It COULD just be that they didn't update that part of the trailer.
OH ONE MORE THING. In the credits, there USED to be a PLAYSTATION 3 logo with the spiderman font.
I'm # 2. I no halo 3 is going to do good but its getting to much hype for what it acually is or what ive seen. The beta doesnt look so amazing right now so Im on the edge. Halo 3 might be good but right now it hasnt impressed to many people.
@jake stop representing xbox fanboys...you're just...ugh..just no.
with that out of the way, i'm really looking forward to both games. halo 3 for the fun multiplayer and story (if you've followed the books you'll understand) and this game for, wow, the graphics my god. and the story in MGS have always been top notch. well not 2 anyway.
i can't see getting a ps3 now tho, maybe next year hopefully the ps3 will see a price drop, this game will be out by then and i'll have my new job, heh.
i never really saw the apeal of Halo 3... to me, it's just like any other multiplayer FPS... i would rather stick to Counterstrike or Half-Life source IMHO...
and gears of war looks nice and all... but i'd have to say, even though this trailer is not in HD, it already looks a lot nicer... can't wait for the final product!
I can't wait to play this game. Raiden needs his own game if he's going to continue in that Ninja Suit. Put me in the middle of the room with about 50 soilders and let me slice through em... I wish they'd put some videos of this game on PSN.
@41 No, I don't think it's a nip slip, Scud. Seems to be an interesting side-effect of the lighting and shaders they are using for her suit texture. As they pan around to her left side, you see concentric rings swimming all about. She's a badass, but nobody's got nipple control like that. Let's just call it a happy accident and not draw too much attention to it, shall we?
Not sure if anyone waited till the very end of the trailer. But a small trailer selector popped up after the trailer in full screen mode. It gave the option to view other trailers. If you pay close attention you'll notice all of these trailers are from 2006. We viewed absolutely nothing new. But no matter how many times you view it...its still awesome. The finished product will definately be a show stopper.
I can't agree more with everyone here. The graphics are amazing, both my girlfriend and I had seen the original trailer and were blown away by some of the changes in this one. Facial detail, lighting effects, the environments.. it's all fantastic.
I actually thought the MGS4 graphics before this were a little ho-hum - great, of course, but not really up to the standard of the benchmark-setting prior games. My opinion has now changed, this is possibly the best looking game of its type I've yet seen.
