Resident Evil 5 likely M.I.A. until at least April 08

Capcom's latest financial report, which also revealed the less-than-spectacular Lost Planet and Dead Rising sales in Japan, has a curious absence from their lineup for the upcoming financial year: Resident Evil 5. Unless the publisher is planning on making a surprise announcement, it is unlikely we'll see the sequel until next fiscal year beginning April 2008. We have contacted Capcom for an official statement.
The report listed Devil May Cry 4 and both Resident Evil Wii titles (RE4 and Umbrella Chronicles) as upcoming major release, with DMC4 expected to sell 1.8 million units worldwide.

1.8 million is quite a drop off from what DMC did. What did Capcom think it will do? 1.4 million on PS3 and .4 million on xbox?

Man, I wish Capcom would release more information on Resident Evil 5. Also hope they release it on the Nintendo Wii because I don't want to have to buy a Xbox 360 just for this game....but that is just wishful dreaming. Oh and the Playstation 3 has still yet to pass 1 million units in Japan which is pretty sad because they have the lowest price on the PS3 in the world.

Capcom is just waiting to see how the Wii ResEvils will do and then decide to make 5 for all 3 consoles.
5 using 4's engine is free money, no matter how bad it looks in comparison

I'm sure if Capcom can make RE4 on GC look the way it did they can accomplish something equally astounding on Wii. Yeah the visuals still wont be as nice as 360/PS3 but there's no reason it cant control much better. I'm basing this on the fact that Capcom has significantly increased the number of enemies in RE4Wiimake due to the superior precision the Wiimote offers.
So if the 360/PS3 has better visuals and the Wii version has better controls I'm sure a lot of people will be given food for thought on which version they'd prefer.
If RE4Wii & RE:UC sell in excess of the projected targets we could very well see RE5 on Wii IMO.

hey bearattack, even though the wii's graphics aren't as good, the ps3 is crap because they tend to burn out just over an hour an a half. at least the wii can allow you more gaming time. not to mention the wii is selling at a real price, not 600$ like the ps3. i'm sorry but NO game system no mater how much picture clairity you get should sell for 600$
