Sony president says PS3 price drop is 'possibility'

If it costs $400 when FFXIII comes out, I will definitely buy one.

The president stating that the PS3 needs a price drop is pretty frigging huge, even if its just in Japan it says to me they're getting scared of xbox360 sales actually making a name for themselves.

Personally I'll be buying a PS3 as soon as it hits $500. I don't think thats a bad price for a future investment. The PS3 won't die (figuratively, it might die literally) so it won't be like plopping down cash on a future dreamcast.

If you already had a 360 that works fine, what the hell is the point in going out and buying the new elite for 500? Even if I was a 360 fanboy(which I am not), the old 360 and new one are going to play games exactly the same except you will have a little more storage space.

If you had an IQ as you boast about, clearly you would have thought that instead of paying 500(plus the 399 you already paid for your premium 360 at launch) for a console you already own, you could have a 360 and a PS3 so that you can play games that will not come to the 360.

I have a launch ps2 but just because the slimline ps2 came out, I am not going to buy the same console just because it is slimmer and might have one or two new features. That to me is just plain stupid.

Nintendo won't drop the price of their treasure chest now or in the forseeable future. Maybe if suddenly everyone stop caring about the Wii, then maybe, but probably not.

IF the PS3 went to $500, you know the 360 will go to $300. Then what? I understand those holding out for a price drop with wait for the PS3. But what about those looking for a great deal...Assuming both systems are equally awesome to your average "consumer" (not fanboy), wouldn't the 360 still be the real "deal"? MS really is steps ahead. Blu-Ray what, says "average consumer". Why don't the PS3 graphics look $200 better than the 360? I don't get it. Even if they were 10% better, would you pay a $200 premium? I really think they should not have gone the Blu-ray route just yet, and they can't come out with a non-Blu-ray option because the games come on Blu-Ray. It's sad...but I can't wait until the Next Gen...2010.

Well to be honest there is not a single game I am interested in that has been anounced exclusive to PS3 (timed exclusives don't count). So why would I want one? Home? LOL. Plus SONY has a garbage online service with a uncomfortable control with no rumble!!
Look, I work with all video game systems (all of them even old ones when we get them in) at one of my jobs and I am anything but impressed with the PS3, in fact they sit on the shelves while everyone tries to find a wii or purchases a 360. That is not a fanboy lie it is a fact in my area.

Well actually I was gonna wait to by the elite until they produce them with the 65nm chip but my premium shitted out on me finally. I was covered under warranty and have already gotten it back repaired in just about a week at no cost to myself. But I wanted an elite...my hdd was filled up within 2 days of launch (I love music and have a 7 year old pc so no streaming for me) so instead of missing some of the Halo 3 beta (not the only reason just the final one to seal the deal) I picked up an Elite.
So now I can system link with my buddies who have no systems and safely leave my Elite at home while I take my premium places. Make sense?
