Much of this Metal Gear Solid4 trailer, embedded above, will seem familiar from previously-shown footage (Tokyo Game Show, E3), but what's noticeable is the graphical upgrade the title has gone through since its last public sighting. Plus, clocking in at 14 minutes, you've got enough espionage intrigue to fill a half-hour TV drama. Grab some popcorn.
From Kotaku, a little while back. Interview with the man himself;
"But like I said, MGS4 is aimed for the movie theatre, it's aimed for the PS3, so the game's scenario and graphics need this theatre-type hardware. It's when a producer has a game that can work on the 'DVD level' that a game will go multiplatform", he says. Since we've opened up this can of worms, I may as well get his thoughts on it. Why, I ask, do you think this rumour simply refuses to go away? "Because 360 owners want it on 360, obviously", he quips.
Keep on hoping guys. Meanwhile those of us with ps3's can just continue to look forward to this... and wait. Dear god, the waiting...
As much as I love MGS, I'm far more insterest in BioShock and Mass Effect - two original big-name IP's coming to the 360. While I'm at, I think I'll squeeze some Halo 3 in with a touch of GTA 4 -- all before the end of november. Ah, life is good on the 360. Heck, I'm not even waiting for those games right now - I'm too busy with the Halo 3 beta and Forza 2.
@ aaron Other than MGS4 or warhawk? What about ratchet and clank? Heavenly sword? Uncharted: drake's fortune, GT5, little big planet, home? Any of those ring a bell?
I don't personally own a PS3, but I've always loved the style of many of the games that come to thier platforms. I'm looking forward to a lot of really good games for it, but as it stands I don't have enough time to fully enjoy my 360 so I haven't bothered even thinking about getting another console.
Man, Meryl's nipple is extremely visible. I thought it was going to be like Taki Nipple's where you can see the outline. Didn't know it was be somewhat transparent as well. LOL
Not to offend anyone, but I want this to be an exclusive for the ps3. I mean I only own a 360 and I am a big fan of mgs, but I think the Microsoft is gettin too much of the ps3 exclusive while exclusives reminds. I think one of the ascepts of console is that they each have their own games. If msg4 is taken away from Sony, what else do they have besides FFXIII?
I plan to get a ps3 once the price goes down eventually
Well I'm not blown away by this movie, but if it ever does come out on 360 I'll def at least rent it. the last fight was pretty cool, almost over the top but cool.
tits out for the lads!! Yes, they definately can be seen. She's not wearing a support bra, and the tight black top (possibly lycra) is pushing them down - the flak jacket smock thingy is pushing them to the sides. She's quite a big girl on all accounts.
My girlfriend has commented that Meryl showing off her baps is just plain wrong. But it does show that she hasn't had surgery on them.
For those that missed them - right breasty-dumpling can be seen at 9:20 and left breasty-dumpling can be seen at 9:26
I can't believe we're posting about Meryl's jigglies. I think we need to get out more guys!!
Right, I'm off to see if this is on the Japanese PSN site - I WANNA SEE IT IN HD.
I am not seeing a box that says "no place to hide" at 8:44, but there is a box that says "NO PLACE FOR HIDEO" shown several times from about 6:16 and very clearly at 7:53 and that is both humorous and curious.
I'm extremely excited for this game, also happy that the topic hasn't degenerated as rapidly as other MGS4 topics, the fact that the Sony logo isn't here doesn't really mean anything since this isnt a Sony issued video, the reason it was on the other version of the video was because it was from a Sony presentation and booth, whereas this time its purely been done from Konami PR. I hope that makes sense.
I don't own a PS3, If I am honest I do hope it will be out on 360, I have bought every Metal gear solid game and its by far my favorite franchise, I bought a PS2 specifically to play MGS2, my devotion this time though is significantly hindered by PS3 price tag, but if it truly remains exclusive, including the special edition versions, then I will most likely eventually own a PS3 just for this game.
On topic, its amazing that Kojima and staff have once again improved the graphics of the game from its trailer version, since its all running from the in game engine, there really like one of the only few game companies whose trailers actually represent the final product, if not slightly worse.
damn, another one. I see the pretty graphics, I see the sharp pre-rendered movies...but it does....nothing for me.. From everything i've seen it look exactly like every other MGS game and those don't really appeal to me.
Some of the action looks a tad bit jerky. Some of the human animations look very unnatural. The chick in the trailer does have a very disgusting looking nipple. I hate Japanese one liners....
War brings death, I must fight it....WTF Darkness is coming, it always comes...WTF
Please Japanese people spare us your one liners... "War has changed...." O-KAY!!!
That was a fantastic trailer. Really enjoyed that. Would show it to a lot of my friends but none of them have played MGS1 or 2, so it's a bit wasted on them.
I agree with about the trailer. I don't think many people realize that movie isn't pre-rendered, it's all in-game. The presentation is still top notch and represents some of the best we've seen so far and it's still not finished yet. I own a PS3 and obviously, I'll be picking this up.
So... This looks like a mashup of a bunch of other trailers to me. The video quality does not even look that much better. Why is this reported being anything different than what we've already seen?
Is it irresponsible to get into a conversation on war on this forum? All I know is Harold Shipman (look him up) killed more civilians that British Soldiers have died in the current Iraq conflict. War has changed for us.
Halo 3 can't hold a candle to the graphics here (preparing for flames). That's honestly not a troll remark. Halo 3 and (arguably) MGS4 are the two heavy hitters on both platforms. They have the most money behind them for the 360 and PS3 respectively. For MGS4 to look SO much better than Halo 3 really speaks to the prowess of the PS3. MGS4 may not be your "cup of tea", but you can't deny that it'll sell some systems. Hell, Heavenly Sword looks a lot better than Halo 3.
I'll say it for you now. MGS is teh suxxor. And it has been ever since Splinter Cell came out and showed how stealth should be done (ie, guards that can see farther than 2 meters). Sony can keep this pile of cutscenes to itself.
Some of you need to lower you expectations on the graphics for this game. Saying this "movie trailer" was done in-game shows that you do quite grasp the fact that we have yet to see impressive game footage.
I am not saying it won't be pretty, but if the true in-game graphic were as brilliant as some of you are suggesting, I am pretty sure we would have seen a game play trailer for this already. Especially if it is due out this year.
Not flaming, just bringing some of you back down to earth.
I really doesn't speak anything about the prowess of the PS3. It has been already stated that the Xbox 360 is a more capable gaming machine: more memory, no memory bottle necks, better general purpose cpus, and a better gpu. And you also have to remember, the Beta is just that, a Beta. Bungie is not done with their tweaking. Also what you have seen has been mostly multiplayer which usually takes a slight hit graphically in order to maintain respectable framerates. And which series is more popular? Halo or MGS? Are you afraid to answer that? MGS is not a system seller, Halo is.
