Interestingly enough as many have noted the Playstation logo is missing
bearattack79 @ Jun 7th 2007 1:06AM
Amazing, cant wait to play this on THE XBOX 360 BITCHES
FIGHT!
Stu L Tissimus @ Jun 7th 2007 1:09AM
So exactly where is this new version from? Looks very pretty.
Kj71983 @ Jun 7th 2007 1:14AM
Of course, then watch when MSG 4 gets confirmed (yet again) as a PS3 exclusive, watch all the xbots claim that its the suxor.
P.S. At the end of the video, it confirms that it'll be out in 2007 (in Japan atleast)
Weirdguy @ Jun 7th 2007 1:29AM
Hmm, I can't stop thinking of those little gears as the hunters from Half-Life 2: Episode 2. Which would make the big ones, like super striders.
Caelum Externus @ Jun 7th 2007 1:39AM
Is it just me, or can you totally see Meryl's nipple?
Arturo @ Jun 7th 2007 1:49AM
"4. Of course, then watch when MSG 4 gets confirmed (yet again) as a PS3 exclusive, watch all the xbots claim that its the suxor."
Except this 360 user who's been an mgs fan since ps1, id get a ps3 for it if it remains exclusive, i admit it; big deal.
Deth @ Jun 7th 2007 1:40AM
Where's the gameplay?
I just watched a movie.
Cheers!
Shiro @ Jun 7th 2007 1:57AM
Gotta admit though, Kojima is one HELL of an artist. I'd be surprised if they didn't announce a MGS4 Blu-Ray movie to be released in tandem.
MetallicDragon @ Jun 13th 2007 2:44PM
Did those robots... uh... 'expel waste'? And moo?
Other than that, Awesome movie. I mean game. I dunno.
mccomber @ Jun 7th 2007 2:08AM
From Kotaku, a little while back. Interview with the man himself;
"But like I said, MGS4 is aimed for the movie theatre, it's aimed for the PS3, so the game's scenario and graphics need this theatre-type hardware. It's when a producer has a game that can work on the 'DVD level' that a game will go multiplatform", he says.
Since we've opened up this can of worms, I may as well get his thoughts on it. Why, I ask, do you think this rumour simply refuses to go away? "Because 360 owners want it on 360, obviously", he quips.
Keep on hoping guys. Meanwhile those of us with ps3's can just continue to look forward to this... and wait. Dear god, the waiting...
dustandechoes91 @ Jun 7th 2007 2:13AM
Lol if you notice at 8:44 it flashes past a random cardboard box that says "no place to hide"
colin @ Jun 7th 2007 2:15AM
@Caelum ... yeah, i thought it was a nipple too
@MetallicDragon ... those things looked like they launched away with jets of green diarrhea
and this looks like the first metal gear game i'll play except the original playstation one (2 disc)
Jack thompson might have a problem with the 20 second clip of snake with his gun all the way in his mouth ready to kill himself.
aaron @ Jun 7th 2007 2:40AM
Keep on hoping guys. Meanwhile those of us with ps3's can just continue to look forward to this... and wait. Dear god, the waiting...
Yeah, I bet the waiting sucks when you have nothing else to look forward to other than MGS4 and Warhawk.
(I own a 360 and PS3)
aaron @ Jun 7th 2007 2:43AM
oh shit, I needed quotes with the first paragraph!
EclipseCDN @ Jun 7th 2007 2:47AM
As much as I love MGS, I'm far more insterest in BioShock and Mass Effect - two original big-name IP's coming to the 360. While I'm at, I think I'll squeeze some Halo 3 in with a touch of GTA 4 -- all before the end of november. Ah, life is good on the 360. Heck, I'm not even waiting for those games right now - I'm too busy with the Halo 3 beta and Forza 2.
jitty @ Jun 7th 2007 2:56AM
@ aaron
Other than MGS4 or warhawk? What about ratchet and clank? Heavenly sword? Uncharted: drake's fortune, GT5, little big planet, home? Any of those ring a bell?
EclipseCDN @ Jun 7th 2007 3:04AM
I don't personally own a PS3, but I've always loved the style of many of the games that come to thier platforms. I'm looking forward to a lot of really good games for it, but as it stands I don't have enough time to fully enjoy my 360 so I haven't bothered even thinking about getting another console.
S @ Jun 7th 2007 3:05AM
Isn't heavenly sword supposed to be for 360? or is it multiplat.
doom saber @ Jun 7th 2007 3:11AM
Love the hideo reference on the box. For those who didn't catch it. the box says "No where to Hideo" rather than "No where to Hide."
doom saber @ Jun 7th 2007 3:13AM
Man, Meryl's nipple is extremely visible. I thought it was going to be like Taki Nipple's where you can see the outline. Didn't know it was be somewhat transparent as well. LOL
doom saber @ Jun 7th 2007 3:25AM
Not to offend anyone, but I want this to be an exclusive for the ps3. I mean I only own a 360 and I am a big fan of mgs, but I think the Microsoft is gettin too much of the ps3 exclusive while exclusives reminds. I think one of the ascepts of console is that they each have their own games. If msg4 is taken away from Sony, what else do they have besides FFXIII?
I plan to get a ps3 once the price goes down eventually
Spitkicker @ Jun 7th 2007 3:25AM
Well I'm not blown away by this movie, but if it ever does come out on 360 I'll def at least rent it. the last fight was pretty cool, almost over the top but cool.
incrediblebulk92 @ Jun 7th 2007 3:31AM
Yay a video showing off graphics not hosted on YouTube! Um was it some sort of joke how the robots moo'd that was completely bizarre
Saturn2888 @ Jun 7th 2007 3:43AM
Umm... After playing Twin Snakes on GCN, I think I have to first get updated on the 2nd and 3rd game to be able to play this one, yep.
Deaddy @ Jun 7th 2007 3:46AM
That wasn't her nipple, it's way too low and to the side on her breast.
madgerald @ Jun 7th 2007 4:10AM
tits out for the lads!! Yes, they definately can be seen. She's not wearing a support bra, and the tight black top (possibly lycra) is pushing them down - the flak jacket smock thingy is pushing them to the sides. She's quite a big girl on all accounts.
My girlfriend has commented that Meryl showing off her baps is just plain wrong. But it does show that she hasn't had surgery on them.
For those that missed them - right breasty-dumpling can be seen at 9:20 and left breasty-dumpling can be seen at 9:26
I can't believe we're posting about Meryl's jigglies. I think we need to get out more guys!!
Right, I'm off to see if this is on the Japanese PSN site - I WANNA SEE IT IN HD.
synce @ Jun 7th 2007 4:47AM
This game should only be viewed in HD resolution. Other than little gripe I'm very excited to play it...on Xbox 360 :)
J//S//F digi_click @ Jun 7th 2007 5:10AM
Nevermind waiting for game to come out, I just want to watch this in HD with English 5.1 audio.
Nothing beats a good ol' David Hayter Snake!
Brian Sexton @ Jun 7th 2007 5:09AM
I am not seeing a box that says "no place to hide" at 8:44, but there is a box that says "NO PLACE FOR HIDEO" shown several times from about 6:16 and very clearly at 7:53 and that is both humorous and curious.
Davinche @ Jun 7th 2007 5:27AM
I'm extremely excited for this game, also happy that the topic hasn't degenerated as rapidly as other MGS4 topics, the fact that the Sony logo isn't here doesn't really mean anything since this isnt a Sony issued video, the reason it was on the other version of the video was because it was from a Sony presentation and booth, whereas this time its purely been done from Konami PR. I hope that makes sense.
I don't own a PS3, If I am honest I do hope it will be out on 360, I have bought every Metal gear solid game and its by far my favorite franchise, I bought a PS2 specifically to play MGS2, my devotion this time though is significantly hindered by PS3 price tag, but if it truly remains exclusive, including the special edition versions, then I will most likely eventually own a PS3 just for this game.
On topic, its amazing that Kojima and staff have once again improved the graphics of the game from its trailer version, since its all running from the in game engine, there really like one of the only few game companies whose trailers actually represent the final product, if not slightly worse.
jsn @ Jun 7th 2007 6:01AM
damn, another one. I see the pretty graphics, I see the sharp pre-rendered movies...but it does....nothing for me.. From everything i've seen it look exactly like every other MGS game and those don't really appeal to me.
Cluckyx @ Jun 7th 2007 6:30AM
Why do the walkers sound like cows? ._.
Jnas @ Jun 7th 2007 12:23PM
Hah, xbots keep dreaming.
2kings @ Jun 7th 2007 6:43AM
Best mgs ever?
i hope so!
paralipsis @ Jun 7th 2007 7:05AM
"War has changed", "War never changes"
Who am I to believe? Metal Gear or Fallout?
Slvrgun @ Jun 7th 2007 7:19AM
Some of the action looks a tad bit jerky. Some of the human animations look very unnatural. The chick in the trailer does have a very disgusting looking nipple. I hate Japanese one liners....
War brings death, I must fight it....WTF
Darkness is coming, it always comes...WTF
Please Japanese people spare us your one liners...
"War has changed...." O-KAY!!!
Snorri @ Jun 7th 2007 7:51AM
That was a fantastic trailer. Really enjoyed that. Would show it to a lot of my friends but none of them have played MGS1 or 2, so it's a bit wasted on them.
Great video though. Would love to see it in HD
I'll Pass @ Jun 7th 2007 7:56AM
Metal Gear Sucks! Sorry Fangirls. I'd rather play Splinter cell. Hopefully there's a demo & I might give it a try. Otherwise No-Deal!!!
Striderhayasa @ Jun 7th 2007 7:56AM
@davinche
I agree with about the trailer. I don't think many people realize that movie isn't pre-rendered, it's all in-game. The presentation is still top notch and represents some of the best we've seen so far and it's still not finished yet. I own a PS3 and obviously, I'll be picking this up.
fps_noob @ Jun 7th 2007 8:47AM
Sadly, to be honest, I never actually liked MGS series before that, but this game looks so amazing, I will defiantly pick it up, hopefully soon...
casey @ Jun 7th 2007 8:49AM
So... This looks like a mashup of a bunch of other trailers to me. The video quality does not even look that much better. Why is this reported being anything different than what we've already seen?
elmer @ Jun 7th 2007 9:15AM
@paplipsis
I was thinking the exact same thing.
Is it irresponsible to get into a conversation on war on this forum? All I know is Harold Shipman (look him up) killed more civilians that British Soldiers have died in the current Iraq conflict. War has changed for us.
Brian Spence @ Jun 7th 2007 9:46AM
Halo 3 can't hold a candle to the graphics here (preparing for flames). That's honestly not a troll remark. Halo 3 and (arguably) MGS4 are the two heavy hitters on both platforms. They have the most money behind them for the 360 and PS3 respectively. For MGS4 to look SO much better than Halo 3 really speaks to the prowess of the PS3. MGS4 may not be your "cup of tea", but you can't deny that it'll sell some systems. Hell, Heavenly Sword looks a lot better than Halo 3.
AirIntake @ Jun 7th 2007 9:56AM
@Kj71983
I'll say it for you now. MGS is teh suxxor. And it has been ever since Splinter Cell came out and showed how stealth should be done (ie, guards that can see farther than 2 meters). Sony can keep this pile of cutscenes to itself.
RoroCo @ Jun 7th 2007 9:57AM
Some of you need to lower you expectations on the graphics for this game. Saying this "movie trailer" was done in-game shows that you do quite grasp the fact that we have yet to see impressive game footage.
I am not saying it won't be pretty, but if the true in-game graphic were as brilliant as some of you are suggesting, I am pretty sure we would have seen a game play trailer for this already. Especially if it is due out this year.
Not flaming, just bringing some of you back down to earth.
Slvrgun @ Jun 7th 2007 10:02AM
@ Brian
I really doesn't speak anything about the prowess of the PS3. It has been already stated that the Xbox 360 is a more capable gaming machine: more memory, no memory bottle necks, better general purpose cpus, and a better gpu. And you also have to remember, the Beta is just that, a Beta. Bungie is not done with their tweaking. Also what you have seen has been mostly multiplayer which usually takes a slight hit graphically in order to maintain respectable framerates. And which series is more popular? Halo or MGS? Are you afraid to answer that? MGS is not a system seller, Halo is.
polly @ Jun 7th 2007 10:15AM
Jesus, this franchise jumped the shark the minute Raiden grabbed the sword with his high heels.
Zair @ Jun 20th 2007 11:53AM
