BioShock blowout: brace for massive spoilers
Don't answer! Because not only are you getting the preview -- a Matt Leone certified classic at that -- the behind-the-scenes video, but can you believe it? Direct feed video of the captured footage, made available seperately as well! Not only that, but we're hiding it behind the cut so that you don't have to sit through those terribly obtrusive ads!
Now then, how much do you think this package costs? Five hundred and ninety-nine US dollars? Even more? No, of course not! It's free! Yes, that's right! It's absolutely free! It's a

Filled under Playstation 3????? Is something fishy going on here?

So I don't mean to be a hater but I am getting *less* interested in this game as time goes on. It looks like a aural and visual treat.. and the design of everything is gorgeous... and the concept seems great in theory but the execution just seems off. Utopian underwater city gone bad.. Sounds cool.. Once-citizens morphed into shadows of former selves to survive.. I'll but it.. But I can umm.. freeze them with superpowers? And shoot out deadly bees from my hands?? Starting to lose me. And while all the characters look interesting it seems kinda 'not next gen' to have DOZENS and DOZENS of entirely similar (if not the same) NPC's of only a handful of classes. It works for a military themed game.. or I can buy 4-5 types of aliens.. but a underworld city populated by nurses, little girls, and mad-scientists? I guess it's more interesting than an underwater kingdom populated by butchers, bakers and candlestick makers.. But I'd prefer to see a game design that is able to lift itself such pretense..

Prey comes to mind - a game that, at first glance, seems original, innovative and fun. The end result was a game that got old, repetitive and boring about five hours in. While I love the look and atmosphere of Bioshock, the videos of the player shooting countless identical enemies really ruined any anticipation I had for the title.
incrediblebulk92 @ Jun 8th 2007 6:16AM
Um they definitely haven't shown us every class of enemy in this game, I'm not sure how many are left but I'm certain there are going to be more than just splicers and big daddys

To all the doubters of Bioshock:
System Shock 2. I know you probably have not played it, but if you ever do, you will know why Bioshock will rule.
incrediblebulk92 @ Jun 8th 2007 7:01AM
Gotta agree with 6, Um didn't seem any spoilers in that vid, it showed an area of the world I don't think we've seen before, talks about the tutorial system, difficulty curve and well not a lot else.
If you don't watch the interview, watch the 5 plasmid videos, definitely no spoilers in there

"venerable" orgy? It's an orgy of old people? I think the word you were looking for was "veritable."

Those tutorials just remind me of some of the Fallout style drawings ...
Huricos @ Jun 8th 2007 9:36AM
Wow, those tutorial videos REALLY Remind me of Fallout's Vault Boy.
But than again, Bioshock is set in that 50's setting that Fallout uses too and these genuine PSA cartoons do belong to that period.

I've played System Shock 2 (and System Shock 1), and I think they're highly over rated. It was good only in the sense that it was scary, which most games weren't at the time. I'm afraid it's been done a lot better since then. That's not to say that BioShock can't be good, but its inspiration is a bit overrated.
Kinjor @ Jun 8th 2007 11:08AM
i'd love to have the question answered about why this was filed under playstation 3. I thought it was clear this was not going to come out on the playstation three.
trent @ Jun 8th 2007 12:20PM
someone has consumed far to much sugar today...
OrganicShadow @ Jun 8th 2007 12:52PM
@13: Actually, as much as they keep saying "this is a 360 and PC game", they have never given anyone a straight NO when asked if a PS3 version is coming. Same deal with Assassins Creed and DMC4. When asked if it was going to another platform they just reply with: "This game is being made for [insert platform]" and that's all they give us.
I'm still betting on timed exclusivity, but only because I saw/read an interview with Irrational a while back when Bioshock was first announced with them expressing interest in PS3.
conker @ Jun 9th 2007 2:23AM
yawn, show me something I haven't seen before. repetitive, repetitive, repetitive....
