Mega Man mobile mayhem
Insert Credit reports that Japanese mobile phones are able to download the original Mega Man (Rock Man to the Japanese). The game has apparently had its difficulty readjusted "so that the new age kids won't throw their phones in frustration." They believe a different version is hitting the US currently. Has anybody seen it, how does it play? It's a good thing to see mobile games moving beyond Tetris clones, even though the Tetris and Bejeweled games still make the most money. One of the more eye-roll inducing moments was Square-Enix's (along with many other publishers) focus on mobile games two E3s ago. Thankfully, Nintendo DS and PSP sales redirected focus. As much as getting Mega Man or Final Fantasy on a mobile phone sounds nice, focusing on making "real" versions for the Nintendo DS and PSP sounds like a better thing for gamers -- or, at least, less obnoxious.

I have it on my phone and it's pretty hard to play because of how cramp your hands get playing it. I haven't played it much, I just downloaded it because I love me some MegaMan.

I got Sonic 1 on my phone, big mistake.
1. It is damned hard to play, they made "up" "jump", which means it's hard to change direction and jump at once, which is vital
2. Screen is tiny and narrow so it's hard to see what's coming
3. Hand cramps
4. It is damn hard to roll, then immediately jump
do not buy platformers for your phone. I suggest Tornado Mania or Cake Mania or any of those games.

FYI - most mobile games map the D-pad controls to the 2,4,6,8 keys as well. It's usually a lot easier to use the number keys on fast-paced games rather than the teeny-tiny D-pads on most phones.

I have had it for over a year and it is pretty unplayable due to the reasons listed by Gwas.

my friend got it and he complains about the cramped control scheme as well. Even when using the number keys in conjunction with the directional pad, it's still a pain.

I've had it for about two months. It's incredibly easy and isn't even worth the money.... no... wait... it is. It's Mega Man - I'd sell my first born to make him happy. Still, the game is WAY too easy.

I find the Numberpad control scheme to be alright.
Anyways, I love playing platformers on my phone but only if it's made by Gameloft. There's a company that knows how to make mobile games!

Secrets of Hold'em is a great mobile game btw, much better than most other THM poker games

I've had it for a long time, too. You get used to the controls. I move with my circular pad (left hand), jump with 2, and shoot with 5 (right hand). Beat it a few days ago, actually. The only thing I don't like is how they have to dumb down the music. It's fun.

I downloaded Rockman 3 when I was living in Japan about a year ago. It was a fun distraction, but I'd rather have played the original.

I downloaded Mega Man to my cell when I was drunk and have regretted ever since.

capcom needs to combine the first 5 megaman games into 1 megaman collection redone for the DS with multi-weapon combinations (like say wrapping a bubble around a guttsman 'brick' to make it float or quickman + electman electric boomerangs) think of the possibilities!

I downloaded MegaMan for my LG VX6100 about a year and a half ago; played through it, and promptly forgot about it. What I do remember is the sound pissed me off, because it was the crappy MIDI format instead of the clear, crisp NES triangle/square wave format; and also that the controls gave me a hand cramp about 2 minutes into Bomb Man's stage. On the plus, graphics wise, it was a near perfect replica of the NES cart, and just as hard.
