Nintendo denies executive exodus
If, as was rumored earlier in the week, Nintendo really is losing some of its top marketing staff, they're not saying so at the moment. As you may already know, Game Informer Online reported on Wednesday that the relocation of Big N's marketing to NYC was forcing the departure of top marketing and PR people like Beth Llewelyn, Perrin Kaplan and George Harrison. But that's not the case (at least, not at the moment), according to a Nintendo statement reported by Pro-G.
"In terms of the execs you name leaving we have not heard anything regarding that speculation (and it remains speculation) and we aren't commenting further on those rumours at this time," the statement says. Of course, that doesn't mean that it won't still happen ... only that nobody's willing to talk. We'll keep you updated.

The post Ludwig wrote about it said it was a rumor in the headline but it pretty much sounded like it was definitely gonna happen. Stupid Ludwig. But anyways I hope it doesn't happen because those people have pretty big roles and you never know what might happen if they had to be replaced.

Problem is, these people are only 'top' in the fact they were at the 'top' of the ladder. Nothing more. They will more than likely be replaced with better people.

Why would they want to sack them, with the success the Wii is having?
JodyAnthony @ Jun 8th 2007 9:43AM
"we aren't commenting further on those rumours at this time" almost always means "this is true but we aren't announcing it yet"

@Phazon
Just beacuse a company's succeeding doesn't mean its due to the ultimate quality of their "top" execs. I company probably wouldn't can exec during a time of prosperity, but if said exec decides to leave themselves, a time of prosperity is the perfect time to attract better people.

O.o Sacking them...did you even read the story? Well, anyway, Nintendo isn't sacking them, they are moving their Sales and Marketing devision to New York, and the current staff was given the option of moving with the department (with a 20% pay increase, I believe) or leaving their posts. So it is a choice being offered to them - no one is being fired.
As to the article, I don't think all the people rumored will leave. In past interviews (some even with GI itself), both Kaplan and Harrison gave very strong indications that they would be staying. However, things change, so I'm interested to see how this will turn out.

"..PR people like... George Harrison"
He's leaving home?

Purple Haze,
How does having RUMOR in the headline lend to the news sounding like "it was definitely gonna happen?" It's not like this article rules it out either. Sounds like you're having a game of conclusion hopscotch over there.

remember engadget.com and their "iphone delayed and apple stock plummets" fiasco!

You know, I wouldn't blame them if they didn't go. I wouldn't want to move to San Francisco with all the crazy people. Well, actually they are from Seattle so there are crazy people there too. I guess its just another flavor of crazy.

@ Ludwig
I dunno, I read it again and now it makes sense to me. I misunderstood it, so I just blame it on you to make me feel better.
