I really liked the demo and am looking forward to the game. Pikmin comparisons seem to be pretty fair.

Graphically, at least in terms of the monsters, it kind of made me think of some of the more realistic Henson films. The guy who guides you around, in particular, seemed like something out of Labyrinth. Beyond that, though, I would agree with the Fable comparison.

I did like the demo, but a rental will be necessary for me to decide. The demo was simply too little to form an opinion on.

Voice and scripting were great, good mix of evil and humor. I particularly like the little things the minions do, such as wear pumpkins and ride the sheep. Funny stuff.

I thought it was decent, but could use more work. There were some obvious flaws with the graphics, namely the shadows on some of outdoor environments, and the game seriously lacked any kind of camera control, making it feel a little sluggish at times.

I think it would be have better to make the right analog control the camera, and right analog + RB control the minions - or vice versa.

It does show some promise, but as it stands right now, it's not great.

That's a good idea. I had problems with that myself.

You can move the camera to some degree. I only played through it once, but I know you can make the camera overhead instead, which I found helpful. Does anyone know offhand if there's a way to put the camera behind your character instantly?

I thought the exact same thing, Ithilis. Making the right analog + RB control the minions is the obvious way to go. Hopefully this is configurable in the full version.

You hear that, developers?

You guys didn't pay attention to the control screen, did you?

Holding LB+Right Analog, DOES control the camera. If you want to instantly move the camera behind you, click the LB. That tutorial is there for a reason. =)

I found the game boring as hell. With a very very crappy camera system and simple commands with basic attacks that dont even rate as good as button mashing. Overlord has 1 attack and thats x.....x.....x....yay. Whats wrong with U guys? How can U all dig a game like this?

#8 Thanks for the heads-up! I'll give it a shot again with the camera controls in mind and see how the game feels!

I'm a convert! Reminds me of Dungeon Keeper. I love the glee all your lil goblins have at smashing up pots and pumpkins :D ahh evil is so much fun. There's some good swarming - i'd say it was more of a 3rd person strategy/action game than wholly action, since you don't have to do much fighting directly (although you do have a kickass axe & armour). Probable buyer here :D

Tony:
left bumper moves the camera behind your character and holding it down allows you to move the camera directly

ccc:
Your minions are suppose to fight for you. There are 5 different kinds of minions that all specialize in one thing or another, so the button mashing should be minimal.

Even though the demo was limited to 10 minions, i was able to get the number or minions in the hole up to 50. Hopefully the final game will give you control of at least 100 minions.

I thought it was fun, but very very short. If the main quest is 15hrs or greater, I will definatly be buying it. If not, I might buy it used from gamyfly.

Ok, I redownloaded the demo to give it another chance since so many people seem to have such a hard on for it.
Again I come to the same conclusion, the game is ass. The overlords Axe has like no collesion detection what so ever. Go ahead and smack a tree see what happens... nothing, also, I came across a little ledge in the game with about a 2 foot drop if that and the Overlord couldnt go down it, had to go around. And as mentioned B4 the total ass camera system and the completly retarded x...x...x combo is weak. And using the minions to break things like Pumkins? What a redundant task that can only be compared to washing away dirt on the ground in Super Mario Sunshine. Seriously, if U like this game U R really starving for entertainment.

I thought it was a great game, but I'm not so sure its worth $60 bucks. With The Darkness coming outliterally the day before this, I think I know which title I'll be picking up. This game is going to be an excellent purchase a year from now when I can get it for $30-$35 bucks. But right now I need to save my money for Halo 3.....and Bioshock.....and Mass Effect....and Too Humen....and Blue Dragon.

I played it and loved it. It's kind of a refreshing take on the style of game. I agree on the camera controls being awkward but other than that I could see myself playing it for a long time
