Today's Little Mac-iest video: Punch-Out!! trailer
The Nintendo Short Cuts contest actually has a few pretty decent entries, and here's one of 'em. Punch-Out!! done up as a movie trailer, and in live action. 80's rock-lite sounding music plus Von Kaiser's over-the-top acting skills equals a contender that refuses to go down.
At four and a half minutes it clocks in longer than your average trailer, and lacks a bit of what you can find in this other live-action version ... but you gotta give them some credit for originality in the script. Who knows, with Hollywood remaking nearly everything they can, a Punch-Out!! movie might actually happen.

Amusing. Nothing that made me laugh but it made me amused.
Sedeas @ Jun 10th 2007 1:17AM
Und zen you join the Nintendo Fun Club, today!
Chris @ Jun 10th 2007 1:58AM
Hah hah, that is awesome!
lumpdeez @ Jun 10th 2007 1:37AM
there is nothing about that that was not awasome.
Jason @ Jun 10th 2007 1:42AM
Wow. That was amazingly well done and creative. I got chills during the jogging scene along the river, and the trainer was funny.
segadult @ Jun 10th 2007 2:07AM
Wasn't it 1987, and not 1990?
ShortFuse @ Jun 10th 2007 2:37AM
ridiculously well done. 5 stars
jorojoserojas @ Jun 10th 2007 2:50AM
That rocked! I got all pumped up about halfway through this. 5 stars!
Poo Jangles @ Jun 10th 2007 2:51AM
Holy crap! That was brilliant! Wow, they should totally make that movie...my stomach hurts from laughing.
BPM @ Jun 10th 2007 2:58AM
NAZI STOLE MY SCOOTER
ssuk @ Jun 10th 2007 3:47AM
The video is awesome.
The new youtube player, however... Isn't so cool. It's as buggy as hell.
knulpm @ Jun 10th 2007 4:39AM
Holy crap, that was all kinds of amazing awesomeness.
My favorites were Mac cheating at the Power Pad, Warior's "I'mma gonna win", and of course, dropping the Nintendo Fan Club bit.
Kye @ Jun 10th 2007 6:34AM
Laughing hard at the duck hunt background.
Laughing even harder at the power pad cheating.
So many memories.
I give it a SOLID 10/10.
MDB @ Jun 10th 2007 8:51AM
Kye-
Is there such thing as a weak 10/10?
kevinski @ Jun 10th 2007 8:58AM
Hahahaha...yeah, I remember my cousin cheating with the Power Pad like that. Funny stuff. The music in this trailer is pretty awesome, by the way. And I wouldn't mind seeing the full movie, should it happen to be completed.
NintendoFanbot @ Jun 10th 2007 9:35AM
The movie's called Rocky, people. But instead of Burgess Meredith we'd have Reginald vel Johnson. :p
And if I give this movie a 10, does that mean that my movie will lose? :(
***goes into trance***
I give it an 11!
***goes out of trance***
...
God***it!
Grey Acumen @ Jun 10th 2007 10:05AM
Von Kaiser was so awesome it cannot be described.
"Now you're playing with Power!"
the cheating at the powerpad, the Wii boxing and the Nintendo fanclub bit were pure gold.
It seriously felt like I was back in the 80s
Antonio @ Jun 10th 2007 11:10AM
Really really impressive. How could they afford to film all those locations and get all those actors? The actors weren't amazing but they were pretty good and no one was horribly bad (unless it was on purpose).
Kris @ Jun 10th 2007 11:59AM
Finally a good one of these
deaftly @ Jun 10th 2007 12:14PM
pretty stupid but the music was cool
IMandIR @ Jun 10th 2007 12:31PM
segadult,
It is 1990 is when the Mr. Dream version of the game came out. I think the movie would be easier to make without Mike Tyson involved.
Marlos Hill @ Jun 10th 2007 12:33PM
FREAKIN AWESOME.
hahahahahahahaha
Dave Silva @ Jun 10th 2007 12:38PM
Mr. Dream is also in the beginning of the movie. This looks cool, I wish I had a camera for that contest.
Tron Knotts @ Jun 10th 2007 1:41PM
I wonder if they will try to go feature length, like those crazy Earthbound movie kids are doing.
I loved it. I would watch watch a 2 hour version. Going back and forth between geniune pathos, cultural reference comedy, adn sincer attempts to re-create a 8 bit world is the perfect way to make one of these.
Mega 64 needs to be it's own cable channel.
Danny @ Jun 10th 2007 2:11PM
That was one of the most amazing mock-trailers I've ever seen. Also, loved the Nintendo Fun Club reference.
Lijik @ Jun 10th 2007 2:36PM
This was hilarious, I think the funniest bits were Von Kaiser saying "Now you're playing with Power!", Wario's "Imma Wario, Imma gonna ween!" and the Nintendo Fun Club reference.
Kye @ Jun 10th 2007 3:05PM

I used the word "SOLID" to imply that there was no doubt (in my mind) that it deserved one.
As opposed to a 'unsure'or 'arguable' score which would denote some debate with myself as to its deservings.
Clear?
hvnlysoldr @ Jun 10th 2007 3:51PM
I come back after three weeks working as a cameraman for a 12 city speaking tour and then early morning services to this video. Totally rad.
RskimB @ Jun 10th 2007 5:14PM
Someone's working on an Earthbound movie?
StovietJoe @ Jun 10th 2007 5:42PM
I NEED the full music to this. I watched it like 10 times and everything about it is awesome. The music really makes me smile.
Highman @ Jun 21st 2007 10:55AM
10/10 as well! Funny as Hell, hope they are making live action, this is the one live action that I can accept than those messed up ones.
rDr4g0n @ Jun 11th 2007 9:04AM
there were so many mini jokes throughout that short. i hope that one wins.
Nick S. @ Jun 13th 2007 2:19AM
Proving again that Mega 64 sucks ass, and directors who actually put some effort into planning their shoots can own them any day of the week.
Great video.
serotoninzero @ Jun 21st 2007 4:41AM
Yeah, Earthbound movie? Url? I can't find it so far while searching. I'd like to see that.
