Yay it's official!! Can't wait to play...oh wait I don't own a PS3. Now that I think of it I'd just play Splinter Cell and/or Team Fortress.

I'm still confused about how this will work. No matter how hard I try, I can't combine "MMO" and "Stealth" inside my brain without one killing the other.

Actually, I can imagine a game where one player has to take on the role of "acrobatic thief" to get in and deactivate systems allowing a team entry just to need a hacker to delve further. Meanwhile, two grunts need to keep the enemy off the hacker until he completes his job while the thief solos their escape route, setting timed bombs to cover their escape, and Leroy Jenkins just fucks it all up.

Seriously though, if they can nail the teamwork aspect, I'd buy it in a second. Especially if it manages to come anything close to what I described above. Especially since the only thing Shadowrun has in common with the pen and paper are the weapons and setting.

Looks and sounds like a great idea. It's a good step in a different direction for MMO games, but if it's cross platform with PC and PS3 online then it's basically ruined. It will be extremely hard for PS3 users to compete against mouse and keyboard PC users, so unless the are going to offer mouse and keyboard support then count me out. I'm giving up on the insanely expensive "hobby" known as "pc gaming" so it's the PS3 version or bust.

Hopefully they will either keep the servers separate or offer mouse and keyboard support for PS3 users.

the whole concept is awesome, and just like you said CJC, I don't know how can they do it, but if it works flawlessly, then awesome!

I love the visual style. Worked well for No One Lives Forever (a FPS spy game).

I can say this is one of the first PS3 games that has caught my eye. If the idea actually works I may need to find me a new friend who owns a PS3.

I'm cautiously optimistic. This is Sony we're talking about. Their track record in MMORPG's is "Let's shit down the necks of subscribers!" Especially Star Wars.

The scope of this game seems almost too ambitious, but if they can make it work, I've a feeling that I will be hopelessly sucked into its time draining gravitational pull.

Imagining the idea of infiltrating and spying on other online clan/agencies hideouts makes me moist.

Interesting that Sony are making this game for PC, it seems that they dont even trust a PS3 exclusive game to make a return for them!

Why doesn't the same mindset apply to the Xbox 360 games?

Meh. I guess if flattery is the best compliment or whatever, Valve software should be pleased.

@ Aex

Because windows is a Microsoft Platform? The latest games that MS have released on Pc have been Vista only and we know that MS have developed tools to make games easy to port between the two.

The fact that for (as far as I can remember) Sony 1st party developers are working on a PC game is significant imo. Will we see other titles like GT5 go multiplatform as well?

Well apparently you can't remember too far back then. This is Sony Online Entertainment.

Despite being founded in 1995, they never touched a Playstation Console until their entry on PS2 with Champions of Norrath. They also delved occasionally on PSP. But the bulk of their work with 32 titles released on PC.

So, in other words, you're wrong.

Gameplay looks interesting, but some of those
screenshots look downright bad. In particular, look at the one that has the girl on the motorcycle. Vice City had better-looking motorcycles.

It wont because TF has weapons already set depending on your character and you can't change that, the skills and everything are already set per character.

Apparently in here everything can be customized by you, your outfit, weapons, etc. And if it is as they say, then the only main difference would be deciding if to be either "ParaGON" or "UNITE", everything else is decided by the player.

... The PC... a Microsoft platform... You say that like developers have to pay Microsoft a license fee to make a program on windows. I've never heard of such a thing. Microsoft really doesn't gain much from having Sony release a game on the PC, unless of course they require Vista for it, but that is doubtful.

MS has released a couple of games on Windows to push Vista, primarily. That, and to make money and help offset the high costs of games. They have developed tools to make 360 to PC an easy transition.

SOE makes PC games, typically MMO's. It is actually odd that this is being released on PS3 as well. But, keep in mind that SOE doesn't typically make very good games. Everquest was a hit, but the majority of their products are stinkers. Just because different Sony devs rock doesn't mean SOE does.

The idea is ambitious and will lead to a unique game. Whether or not it sucks remains to be seen. But in any case there is a chance for it to rock, so let's be optimistic.

As far as Star Wars Galaxies is concenered, five minutes of research shows one that Lucas Arts pushed the change of platform. Not that it matters, it's Sony related and therefore evil. Not that I ever understood that logic.

This game will be good unti lthe public demand more (downloadable content) and they'll get it, but it will ruin teh game ! (planetside and the BFRobots) and starwars galaxies. They changed STG bceause they wanted it to appeal to the asians (I think)

It's not like TF2 hasn't had it's chance to come out. I remember talking about TF2 running on the HL1 engine, long before HL2 was even demo'd at E3.
