Every NES title screen in five minutes
42
This isn't to drive anybody with a severe obsessive ego mad -- actually, it is. Here is a video of the title screens for (allegedly) every Famicom/NES game ever made ... or is it? Perhaps there are a couple missing. Doesn't it just eat at you? All those title screens, nobody would be arrogant to presume that every title screen is on there. Surely, they must have missed some. Doesn't it gnaw at your soul, to prove that they must have missed one, two, maybe even twenty obscure games? Check the video, go frame by frame, become internet famous for twenty seconds or so for having found the games that are missing from this video.
On a lighter note, it does show how many games can still be released for the Wii's Virtual Console. There are some obscure games in there that we can remember from the good old NES days. Titles like Athena, Deja Vu and A Boy and His Blob. They'll all come out eventually. There's still plenty of VC Mondays before the Wii dies and more than enough titles to choose from as this video proves.

Did anyone else notice that they repeated a number of titles multiple times. I don't know which title screen showed the most times. The original Super Mario Bros showed up at least 4 times that I counted.

as far as the possibility of repeats goes, the Jap and US versions of Mario 1 look identical, SMB2 (jap) looks almost the same as SMB1, just with a 2 next to it, then theres also 'vs. super mario brothers', which might have been released in a cartride/disk format, but i might be wrong.

Um. No.
Trog. There was no TROG. Nothing was more fun then playing a PacMan style game as a pineapple eating Triceratops, that turned into a T-Rex.
Fail.

There was no Elite, I think. And I am not sure if there were Silent Service and Star Tropics. I liked the music.

Where is 3D World Runner and Rad Racer? Those aren't that obscure, in fact I recall at least R.R. being pretty popular.

Am I right that the games extended from 1987 to 1992.
Because in 5 years a modern console would have twice as many games. Just shows that even though development times are longer now, there is such a large user base now that more games are produced.
Go where the money is, Disney Pixar games.

I didn't see Duck Tails or Darkwing Duck in there. I could be wrong though, I mean, at the speed they were going by, I could have missed them. Lots of black backgrounds in the title screens too, I noticed.

McKids? The game McDonald's made to convince kids that cheeseburgers are all good?
Also, R.R was the sweetest game for NES.

At least one of the Duck Tales' games title screen was there. What about Kickle Cubicle?

ALL the games were there. End of story. No, I didn't check each and every one myself, but I'm sure that if someone spent the time and energy to make a video featuring every single Famicom title screen then he also spent the time and energy to ensure that he didn't miss one.
The games are displayed in the order of Japanese copyright dates. Find the release date of your fave game and cycle to that segment in the video.
Also, those doubles? Those are re-releases, most likely on the Famicom Disk System. Check the dates at the bottom.

It also seems to be missing the games made for the power pad, such as World Class Track Meet and Dance aerobics.

I saw "Rocket Man", but I don't think I saw any "Mega Man" screens. Same thing, I guess; just seemed a little odd.
I was also surprised to see Space Harrier and Afterburner. Nintendo and Sega had rival consoles at the time; I wouldn't have expected to see Sega titles on the NES. But considering Sega would want to make money on those titles, and the SMS couldn't touch the NES in terms of sales, I suppose it makes sense, if not cents.
@11: The song is (at least in part, very obvious in the ending) the Firebird Suite by Igor Stravinsky -- obviously a little modernized. ;)

@Andir3.0, Xeres, bho, and others
You guys DO realize that this a video of the Japanese Nintendo system titles? Could it possibly be that the reason you can't find your particular game is because:
1. The game was released in other regions years later than in Japan, or vice versa?
2. Japanese titles are often named differently?
3. Japanese titles are spelled with Japanese characters and as such you can't recognize the game?
4. Although more games were released in Japan than anywhere else, there might be a few games that showed up on our shores and not theirs?

Crono is now my favorite Joystiq commenter because he mentioned Monster Party. You don't know how much I love that game. I must've written at least a hundred haikus about that game, and my final in my intermediate Film class was loosely based on that game's brilliant plot.

It has Japanese games only. For those that continued to not read megaStryke's posts. The writer of this article could have made that a little more clear though.

I got Monster Party for my birthday... I think one of my favorites was the "I'M DEAD..." boss that you didn't even have to fight. That whole game was wacked it was hard to tell if they were trying to be scary or silly. I loved it tho!
