Xboxygen got their hands on 4 more screenshots of Infinity Ward's Call of Duty 4. Unfortunately, none of the shots are 360° flybys of a given scene, but it'll do. Still, the game seems to be coming along graphically and these screens have some great examples of the engine's explosion, lighting, rain and realistic smoke capabilities. Are you digging the art direction, as well as the move to modern day combat scenarios in this next installment of the Call of Duty series?
[Thanks, gaetge]

I believe that CoD4 has the potential to be greater than CoD2.

At first i didnt believe this game would be good at all, it seemed like a splinter cell+GRAW+CoD mix and it didnt appeal to me. but now these graphics are insane, and i might rent it first before i buy it.

Another on rails shooter?
People need to stop buying this gimmicky crap so developers are forced to actually develop rather than just recycle.
Sandbox games ftw!

This looks sexy. I'm tiring a little of the COD formula, however, so I hope this game differs from the rest in more than just setting..

As long as its not WWII. For the love of god developers, no more WWII. So this looks good in my book.

Them there pictures look awful purdy. I've never played any of the Call of Duty games before, but I just might have to give this one a try.

I like alot about these screens, except for the shiny parts of the uniforms. Not so many highlights plez, ruins my sneakiness.

I sick of people saying "no more WWII". There are PLENTY of non-WWII games so f**k off and find them. Stop trolling on developers who make WWII games. WWII is a genre many many people like and feel happy playing. Infinity Ward's COD2 was a launch game and still is one of the best, if not THE best FPS on the 360. To many hearing that COD4 was leaving this era was really disappointing. BUT, saying that these new screens look promising.
OH and for the person who trolled about "on the rails shooter". Erm It's called variety! Developers make what they want and like. If everyone made sandbox games. The industry would be insanely dull. It's kind of like asking every soft drinks maker to make a drink like Coke, just because that's the drink you like.

OH sorry. I thought millions of people dying to save freedom of speech and our way of life was quite an interesting and compelling part of human history. I guess I should forget about WWII, it's only our history...
I do live in the now Frank. Literally!!! That's probably why experiencing such an important part of our history via the medium of video games is so interesting. I'm sick of people moaning about this genre. If you don't like it then there is plenty of other games and genres for you..

This game is looking quite the fantastic.
I'm ecstatic to see Infinity Ward move into modern combat, and this'll make up for the disappointment of letting Treyarch develop CoD3.
That smoke looks incredible...

@#9: Woah! OK Joe calm down. Everyone's entitled to their opinion!
And I'm happy with the direction CoD4 is going. Never played the first three specifically because they were set in the past.
Give me modern (or even better, futuristic) warfare and day! Where's the big laser cannons with thermal imaging and 100x zoom??? ;o)

Well I think what he means about on the rails is that everything is scripted and you can't deviate from the "plan" at all. This is probably one of the weakest aspects of the game. I can understand why though. When you have a huge battle going on it would be hard to keep the action around you and predictable enough to still be fun. It sucks the replayability out of it a bit though.
