Dark Sector removed from 'crowded' holiday season, due early 2008
Digital Extremes' Dark Sector, one of the first games to brandish the unnaturally shiny "next-gen" label, has been shoved out of its proposed holiday season release period and into the first quarter of 2008. A representative from D3Publishing tells FiringSquad, "We've decided to pull Dark Sector out of a very crowded holiday season and it is now slated for release in Q1 2008."Apparently, the publisher believes that releasing a third-person sci-fi title into a throbbing crowd of anticipated games is a mistake. Of course, where D3 sees Dark Sector getting trampled, Midway sees Blacksite: Area 51 being hoisted up by Halo 3 and surfing the crowd. We'll see which decision fares better soon enough.

Okay, now this actually makes sense, unlike Midway's claim the other day. I mean, a Halo3-like game could benefit from Halo3 on consoles other than 360 just because the advertisement blitz might have people wet for sci-fi shooters. But on 360, Halo3 will blot out the sun. It is probably the biggest title of this generation, unless the PS3 has an install base worthy of FFXIII. Easily the biggest single game for North America. It is probably my 5th most anticipated game, though it is #1 on a hole lotta people's lists.

Isnt Dark Sector a 3rd person shooter? It seems like it should be compared to resident evil 4-5 more than Halo. It looks similar enough.

I know the main reason I bought Lost Planet was because it was january and fuck all else was dropping. Smart move...

Yup; a veritable pirhana's tank of AAA titles waiting to eat those lesser-known titles for breakfast
It starts with Too Human and Metroid Prime 3 in August, and ends with Smash Bros Brawl (hopefully) in December

No matter what the story is, it's always better with TinTin.

This sucks. What about the people that aren't getting Halo 3 or FFXIII? I don't think a "busy holiday" is enough to warrant delaying it until the next year, without even giving us a round-about release date.
Most of the biggies are coming in September, so you've got 3 more months to release. Just pick one. I suggest October, Halloweenish...scary game....no? Nobody does that anymore? Only Kingdom Hearts GBA game?

Can we have some Tintin in Congo next plox?
I love it when he teaches the "savages" about the noble and imperialistic country Belgium. I would prefer it with the original caption:
