Major Nelson gives word that Gears of War's upcoming title update will be available at 2:00 AM GMT PDT, June 14th. Technically, that's still today in North American timezones. Either way, the update will have 8 new Achievements with a combined worth of 250 Gamerscore, relating to the Hidden Fronts map pack and the new Annex gametype. It also will refine the Roadie Run (again), and fix some exploits in the multiplayer. If you're dropped Gears for some other titles, will this draw you back in?

Well I love the multiplayer in this game but two things were really annoying: 1)How much and often lag affects the playability of the game and 2) All the glitchers. If they actually fix the glitchers this time (unlike the last patch which only fixed it for a couple days till people figured out new ways to do the same glitches) I would certainly consider returning to the multiplayer.

I've been playing this on and off. recently I started playing a lot with friends, which is a lot of fun... we're not good enough to find glitches, but still, sweet! I can't wait.

They should make the online achievements more attainable by the occasional gamer. These impossible achievements requiring you to be a master at the game are reserved for people with jobs that require little dedication and thus they waste most of their time playing video games.

I'm still playing this game and i gave gotten every online achievements except for seriously. The single player got boring after i beat it once, so i still don't have all of those, but these achievements are online so I will def be getting these in about a week or two. I still love the multiplayer in this game. FIX THE GLITCHES!

Actually, the only way to make the host issue go away, is to have a dedicated server. When I picked up Halo 2 for Vista, I was told that I could install the "Dedicated Server", though I didn't understand what it was, so I installed it to check it out. After reading some about it, I realized that what it does is run the whole game off of another computer, that way there is no host, only people all running off of their computers + a boost from the one computer that no one is playing on, but actually loading the maps and such.
This is actually the problem with Xbox Live, we host our own games. It all depends on the connection speed of the host, and the efficiency of their Xbox. If either Microsoft or Epic hosted their own servers it would solve the problem, though it would probably cost us about $5-10 more to maintain per year.
Just think about it, it'll all make sense.

Here's a hint to fight lag: Instead of playing a quick match, go to custom match and check the bars for each one - 3 bars = good connection/no lag, and 1 bar = crap connection/lagfest. At this point, you can choose a match with a bunch of players already in, and in most cases it is even faster than the "quick match" option...
...and for the record, I've never played a game that seems to drive such a rift between casual and "pro" gamers.

I play Gears, but not as much as I used to. This is due to the horror that is the roadie running in the game. This will drive me back to playing hours and hours on end. I CANNOT WAIT!

I understand Epic's approach when not wanting to put the Achievements in a Player Match, but come on! Not everyone want's to go online with a bunch of strangers(most of the time jerks) and spend hours on end trying to get some of these achievements. Let us get the same achievements with our friends in a Player Match! I think it will also improve the Ranked matches so you don't have a bunch of achievement whores stealing kills, etc trying to get these achievements.
Also, I really wish they would release some DLC that extends the Campaign mode. Epic is just too online focused. UT3 will be be the same way. Which is fine, expect I was really hoping Epic would put together something great for Single player with Gears.

It wouldn't make sense to put kill-based achievements in a player match. If that happened, people would just create custom matches catered towards whatever achievement everyone is trying to get. Want the Longshot & Headshot achievement? Easy: make a 19 round match and replace every weapon with Longshots. People already try that in Ranked Matches, its just a much slower, more tedious process which dissuades most players from trying it. Also, implementing such a feature now would rob the glory of the achievement from those who have gotten it legitimately.
I'm glad us GoW players are getting Annex achievements. My buddy and I completely demolish people in Annex. I love it. Though, I wish these achievements would have come with the Annex gametype in the first place because I doubt the achievements will be retroactive to my previous games. Oh well, I'll just have to play more.

Are U saying the single player game is.....unimpressive? And what is the big deal with the roadi run? I have never had a problem using it after any update. Sometimes but very rarley do I get stuck on something I dont want to. Fix the glitchers for good. Make it so U cant fall out the map. And change the Longshot active reload and make it way way harder to get that reload active.
