So far I'm liking this blog. If they keep updating it on a regular basis it could really help their PR.

Also you gotta give them credit for admitting that XBL is better than PSN right now. That's a ballsy move for a companies official blog.

So far I'm liking the blog. They post regularly, the articles are about stuff people actually give a damn about, the comment threads put joystiq to shame in sheer numbers. The people posting actually read alot of the comments, even Karraker himself (supposedly, but assuming that he is the head PR guy, it would surprise me if he actually did read it. what greater gage of impressions than whiny commenters).

The bottom line here is that this is basically the Major Nelson idea. Chalk another one up for Fony on orginallity.

You're one of the many reasons SCE didn't start blogging earlier...

I don't think Sony's ever had an original idea.

Riiiight, because Microsoft was the first company EVER to have a company blog. Oh wait. No they weren't. Guess we should start calling them Microcopy or MicroXerox or Copysoft.

R-D-R-R.

Besides, Kutaragi basically did have his own blog. He'd say something stupid to the media, and then the rest of the world would comment on it...on blogs.

Voila.

I can't believe that people are this dumb. Yep, starting a blog means Sony is trying to copy Microsoft. It's a good thing you don't have to think to breath or most of you would be dead by now.

I'm not going to take the time to search Ctrl+Alt+Del archives for their if life was like an MMO comic. And it wasn't real time weapon change, that was instantaneous weapon change. It takes time to really change your weapons.

that XBL quote wasn't from Tretton but from their PR head.

still, the PR head himself says "we're catching up" to XBL right there in white and black. he just owned legions of his own fanboys.

i really hope most of those 15 1st party games coming out this year are full retail disc games and not half-assed multiplayer-only PSN games. "blu-ray is for teh gamez!"

Would a Dune video game that was made more like a prince of persia/tomb raider be awesome? third person with changing characters/powers. Use of shields, Voice, super speed. It would be awesome. Riding a worm could be a button timing portion, like legend of dragoon/FF8/DDR. any other ideas for this game?

Since the spice can act as a super-human life-giving drug, steal from Bioshock and make it a desert world instead.

Isn't "Spice Must Flow" more of a Eon referance than a Dune referance?

Being honest about something they could have easily twisted the other way around is a bad thing? PSN is definitely behind XBL in the features department but any half assed PR guy could have made it sound the other way around.

If you want to talk about taking a shit on your own fanboys look no further than Moore:

"ya'know things break"

A Dune game that's like Bioshock would be awesome hvnlysoldr, as long as it's in third person and you play as a Fremen.

@Jerm,

Eon was making a dune reference himself... so most likely it's a Dune reference.

Love the Dune reference. Checked out the blog and realized it's just a big corporate propoganda tool. After I read the first couple articles and saw the 360 bashed a half dozen times I left. That's the difference between something like Major Nelsons blog and this one is that he doesn't spend all day comparing and re-comparing the Xbox 360 to the PS3. This might as well be a Sony Defense Force blog for all it matters.. Yes, they did mention that PSN has a ways to go before it compare to XBL but that is completely overshadowed by the constant "the PS3 is more powerful" crap. But I'm sure the Sony Fanboys love it and I'm sure in a couple weeks they will claim Sony invented blogging and that it's the best thing on the planet..

And then I'm sure Microsoft fanboys will show up in response to the Sony people and claim that Microsoft was the first company to incorrectly claim that they invented blogging, and that Sony was copying their business practices.

@22: First off, you have to recognize that MS has done a great community building job. Better than Sony could of ever dreamed of.

Second, nobody is claiming they invented blogging, that was more of a tongue in cheek comment. But you have to admit that in the history of Sony they've always had this "take it or leave it" approach with their customers. Suddenly they are getting all touchyfeely with them, why? Because they see the success MS has brought with their community. Sadly Sony's is so fake you would have to be a real fanboy not to see it.
I can see a problem on Live, post it on Major Nelsons blog and then actually see the fix occur on Xbox Live. Now that is connected with your community! On the Sony blog, if you have anything negative to say or even constructive it is simply deleted. The same goes with their forums.
