Rumors: Pokemon cheaters banned from online play

So you think it's cute, trying to cheat on being a pokey-man collecta', huh? I hear you're getting your hits using these Action Replay codes with Pokemon Diamond/Pearl:

National-Dex
Catching All 493 Pokemon
All Shiny

Well, I got news for you, buddy. Word on the street (i.e. Wii60 forums) is that Nintendo is banning players who are caught using the aforementioned codes from online play. No trades, no barters, just cold isolation with yourself. My Pokeymans, let me show you them ... I can't? Oh, nuts!

Yeah, I'll believe this. We should also believe what the same guy said later on in the thread..."...Nintendo released these codes to Gamestops to catch people that cheat so they arn't on online anymore."

I doubt Nintendo cares. The ratio of cheaters to legit players has to be miniscule with the millions of copies sold.

Wow, that's pretty sweet. At least Nintendo is trying to be serious about fair play with their online model, among other things I feel they aren't doing too well. Kudos.

- Actually, I sort of believe this. This happened before on Metroid Prime: Hunters. When cheating started the rise, and someone screwed up the leaderboards, bans started to happen. Of course, this only happened for a limited time. Now, it's too much of an epidemic to care.
- If this happens, I will be so glad. I'm like the few ones of my friends that have never used an AR on Pokémon. Heh...I'll laugh at them when they find out they can't get online. Oh, and I think this also applies to Battle Revolution for the Wii.

Exactly. You can reset your DS' internal code, and you can reset a game's friend code.

Hell, you can even play friggin' pirated games online with the DS without trouble.

I don't see any way this could be effective -at all-, unless you have a static IP, and it bans it.

Of coarse, you could always have both games. Use one to cheat, trade to the other, and battle with the non-cheated one.

This reminds me of when people complained to Nintendo that they were playing people with offensive names and decals in MKDS and Nintendo basically replied "Don't play with them then"

how would using a shiny cheat be harmful to others, i think it would be nice to send people random shiny pokemon

Nope this is simply not true. The game doesn't even count disconnects as losses, whether you playing a cheater or a normal player it makes no difference if once they are losing they quit. And the fact that you can only play people who have your friend code and them yours, it means if they are cheating you probably knew anyway and didn't mind.

But still, Ninetndo's poor online service and lack of proper security in the game has allowed people like me to make a killing selling Pokemon on ebay, and it costs me nothing to hack the files and have access to all the legendary's

So thanks nintendo, you paid for my summer holiday!

Ouch, that's got to hurt a lot of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl players. To think of restarting your whole game, just to get a new friend code after cheating online really makes me glad that I played through Diamond legitimately.

Cheating on pokemon its not fun
at the serebii wifi battled dozens of jugdment mewtwos shiny and a lot of event only pokemon with hacked stats,

They were easy to beat but then the cheater sended a lucario shiny with judgdment (a exclusive legendary move) , sacred fire , hidrocanon etc
with stats over the chart he was able to resist my tyranitar powered up with 3 dragon dances
(less than 5% to his lucario) and was able to outspeed my tyranitar in battle.

Whats the fun playing online against those cheaters

Maybe they're cracking down on the use of Action Replay devices, but what about PokeSav? I used it to edit my Magikarp to Lv100 with Hyper Beam, Psychic, Thunder, and Blizzard.

i really dont think this is fair
if you get your pkmn using codes, as long as you dont have them with max stats they should let them battle other people who used cheats to get their pokemon
