A snippet from the Metroid: Boss Battle music, a newly-dressed Fox, and an updated Yoshi's island stage that changes season during battle.
For the first time, shots of Samus Aran were shown. It's not really surprising to see a fan favorite from the last two iterations return, and the published images give no hints as to new or revised special moves.
Perhaps the most entertaining update concerns crates and barrels. The rugged item boxes of old will now have thematic skins based on the stage (e.g. they look like presents when playing on Yoshi's island stage), and crates have gained the ability to slide when thrown. "Be careful and make sure you don't get knocked for a loop by a box madly rushing downhill," said the entry. That has to add a few points for the game on the tried-and-true Crate Review System.
