After I buy SKATE I'm done with skateboard games for atleast ten years. I might eventually buy a used copy of this but I already own both the Tony Hawk games on the 360. As you can tell innovation never lasts that long. Project 8 was a letdown and people still play American Wasteland more then Project 8.

SKATE FTW!!!!! :)

Skateboarding has really lost its thing. I say "thing" for lack of a better word. When they talk about the different types, it just shows how skating has come to this kind of classification and that it really isn't all that neat anymore.

TO ME IT just looks like a dirtier version of every other tony hawk game. i think graphically this game couldnt hold SKATES jock strap..If a game had a jock strap of course.

I don't see where all this hate for the game is coming from. People complained about THUG, THUG2, and THAW. Too cartoonish was the popular idea. This is far more realistic but it still holds that special amount of unrealism. .skate is the more realistic of the two, it seems to be for the hardest of the hardcore. Why not buy another 10 years? That just doesn't make any sense. NFS has far better graphics than Burnout, should you not a buy another burnout game for the next 37 years? And that's the thing. NFS has Burnout. .skate has THPG. There has to be an arcade and a simulation. With so few choices you guys should pick up as much as possible.

@2 It's not classification, it's preference. In the earlier games it ws either Street or Vert. That was sort of vague, as street could mean pools, bowls, stairs, or rails. Vert could mean pools, bowls, half pipes, or quarter pipes. But then there are the streeters that prefer quarter pipes, and then there are the Vert dudes that prefer rails on top. And what if you preferred pools and bowls? What category would you fit under. The new "classification" system, as you put it, opens it up more. You have career, with guys like Hawk and Sheckler. That works because both are all about comps, but one is Vert and the other is Street. The hardcore guys, like Vallely and Mountain, have that aggro kick which benefits both Street and Vert again.

SxBrrlShtgn05, my ideas got jumbled. I feel like skateboarding has passed. That's one idea. Another idea is: this classification system isn't helping. When they combine they are an unrelenting force that drives Tony Hawk... well, out of my mind when I think of how Skate *could* be so much better. Will it be that? Who knows, but right now Skate had better change the genre, because if Tony Hawk continues this monotony I will hate skating.

anything past THUG 1 was just lame in my opinion, but American Wasteland was the best thing since THPS 2. For years we have been promised something new that would change the way skating is done on video games. Do I think this new Tony Hawk game will do that? Hell no. They will make you think its a serious game and then they will throw in those stupid goals that you really couldnt care less for. SKATE is the closest thing to real skating you will ever get. I'm tired of doing 50 backflip combos or doing a 900 that only like one or two skaters can do in real life. It's time for a change and that change will be SKATE. After that, skateboard games will not be something I will be buying. I have 30+ 360 games and how stupid would it be if I had three games that were basically the same?

Seriously, does anyone care about the Tony Hawk franchise anymore?

Did anyone not read my comment on how this is the Burnout to .skate's NFS? Skateboarding isn't all about physics and hug gaps. That's one aspect that this game is exploiting. So, what it does it seems to do good at first glance. Burnout exploits one aspect of racing, the crashes. See the logic? Just because it focuses on one or two aspects doesn't mean it won't be good. Remember, we aren't really seeing any real "playtime." All we see from this are two second clips spliced together. Don't judge anything from first trailers, if that were the case Pirates 3 would've sucked ass. The movie, not the game. Although the game isn't as bad as people make it out to be.

i love how everyone is all up Skate's ass and dissing TH, marketing and hype certainly owns each and every one of you. i'm not saying that because i think Skate will suck, because i think the idea is awesome but aside to what your being told, what do you know about it? you might play it and decide that ollies and simple grinds aren't exactly as fun as you think. TH is fun because it lets you do things you can't do in real life (just like Halo, just like Gears). I wonder, once you figure out you two thumb sticks, what kind of legs will Skate have in the long run?
