Hmmm 12th person to vote.
Comic that tickled me the most got my vote.
Both PA & VGC were unusually weak this week.
Think I'm gona lay down now.

I wasn't going to vote for PA, but then I saw the Quick Poll on his blog and couldn't resist.

Agree: Penny Arcade made no sense, VG was a good concept, but too minimalistic

I like the one about Mewtwo, Marth, and Roy, although i don't particularly know why

LOL PA is great. Just read through his blog... it's like a blog of a 7yr old kid on myspace.... but the President and CEO of Sony.

Haha, the last one is great: "This is totally getting posted!"

Wow, really? Because I read everything they have on the blog and right now, it's fairly basic. You have Jack Tretton talking about the ambitions for the blog, Dave Karraker linking a story talking about the difficulties of PS3 development, and the developer of Motorstorm giving an update on the patch and saying it's getting delayed because the patch has been shown to cause network connection issues.

About the closest thing to the Penny Arcade parody is the article about attending an F1 race at Indianapolis. And even then, it seemed very unlike a 7 year olds myspace.

Not saying Penny Arcade wasn't funny, because it was, but I am saying it's inaccurate.

I never knew Joystiq reported PS3 saved a baby from a wolf. My respect for them has lessened since they killed a defenseless wolf.

Still, it doesn't quite top what happened when he found out he could talk to ants.

Extralife sucked. It totally lacked story arc. We see pac-man and a lame Mario (notice this artist can not draw real facial expressions, only facsimiles of people who have to pee really bad), pac-man eats a pot plant (which would do nothing, thc is only released after a certain temperature), and then we see the lame Mario with a bag over his head, presumably to look like a pac-man "ghost", and naked, underneath.

I would love for the artist to attempt to explain, not what his comic means or says, but why he sucks so badly at comics.

Quest: These are COMICS. Comics are intended to elicit humor.

Flags of our worms is too specialized. Anyone who hasn't played worms wouldn't get it. What's that? Yes, my point, exactly.

Crackdown. This is quite a bit better. Not the greatest joke, could have improved slightly with better delivery. Dont' worry so much about the graphics. Also, it's not real hard to write correct grammar. Or maybe it is. You kids.

I'm Open! I like this because it's making fun of people who still, in 2007, cannot seem to make videogames balanced. Who THE FUCK is testing your videogames, people? Are you getting ANY useful feedback, at all?

Dreamy: I had to look up the word stupid in the online dictionary, just to make sure I pegged this one right. Yep, I was right.

Super String Theory, by Digital Unrest, was profoundly LOSORIOUS. I made up a new word, just for you guys. First of all, you need more pics to tell the story. You could have had something here, but you went with the old "irreverent" (and I put that in HEAVY quotes) guise, supposing that you're some artist making fun of something in some realistic and interesting way.

It actually would have been better (believe me I know, I just thought of it) if you had tied in this idea with real ideas of humans attempting to push beyond our prescribed three-dimensions. If you had made an anthropological observation to the tune of a video game switching between 2d and 3d modes, to gain better understanding of a misunderstood universe, similar to living humans, switching out and in of different realities and getting some idea that the world really is bigger than we've been told. You see, first there was 2d, and it was amazing. Then 3d, and we saw that there was all this stuff behind the 2d, stuff we never suspected, until we just chose to rotate the universe.

But you didn't do that, because you're 6. Mentally.

Silence is worthless, and ostracizes anyone who doesn't know exactly what the comicer is talking about.

John...you are entitled to your opinion, of course, regardless of how inflammatory or non-constructive it might be. But I figure its only fair that I checked out your band and a few of the tracks you have up on GarageBand.com. It's pretty shitty stuff, dude. :) Do you really feel like you have room to bash other people's creative output?

John, I'm flattered that you deticated so much text to my comic. However, I was well aware when I made it that it wasn't a mainstream strip (indicated such in the news post, in fact). Nonetheless, thanks for the critique. I did have to grab a towel, though. Your post oozed eliteness and some of it got on my keyboard.

P.S. I enjoyed the little jab at me at the end. I can't wait for kindergarten in the fall!

Sorry, back to the comics at hand. Glad to see the best is on top.

My vote goes to the best Penny Arcade of the week, instead of the worst:

http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2007/06/13

Do you guys always pick the worst PA comics on purpose? It would make sense in that whole "but they're too good" sort of logic.

Don't mean to blatantly self-promote myself here, but...I will. I managed to get an MGS strip up earlier during the week, and since I've been up in these polls a few times before, I was wondering if you'd consider this one.

John:

If the DU guy is 6, how does he understand string theory and other science principles shown in his strip? That's right, it was an ineffective ad hominem. Way to show your intelligence.

And your idea wasn't more funny. Sorry.

Anyway, weak selection overall. Couldn't pick a favorite out of them this week.

Why do you always pick the least funny of the Penny-Arcade comics in the week? Gabe being a child game player who smashes other children at said games and gets arrested for making advances towards children at an elementary school. THAT IS FREAGIN GOLD.

Seriously, you shouldn't try and force Penny-Arcade to lose every week.

John: Dude relax. You are an artist, and as you know, artists do whatever the fuck they want (unless they have ulterior motives) so it's usually best not to scientifically pick apart every comic hardcore.

@2 comic dudes who came in to flame John:

Just adding fuel to the fire guys. Personally it makes you look worse to respond to this guy, albeit with funny zings, than to just ignore him. If you are professional about your art, it's best to let the critics speak, and ignore it, good or bad. Supporting a critic who speaks well openly discredits your work. Speaking ill of a critic who seems to have it out for your does the same.
