It isn't a ban. Rockstar can still sell direct for PCs.

(and yes, it's perfectly legal for Nontendo and Sony to refuse licensing, since you have to meet the licensing requirements in order to use the code libraries that Nintendo/Sony provides in developer kits. By publishing a game which does not meet said requirements, you're automatically breaking said contracts and thus is open for lawsuit. Unless Rockstar has their own reverse-engineered code libraries for Wii and PS3, which is unlikely, and would probably be found to have influence by the original code libraries, and thus still open to lawsuit.)

As far as acting out murders go. You act out murders in Red Steel on each level. You make the sword swinging motion when you execute each person. However, the game is only rated T for Teen.

There's just certain thing's I don't understand.

Why is Sony and Nintendo afraid to sell an AO game? It doesn't mean their reputation is trashed except in the eyes of stupid people. Just because it is available for the console doesn't mean you have to get it. They're will still be plenty of family-friendly titles available. Paramount Pictures, a film company, has put out films expanding many genres. They have some child themed ones, and some mature themed ones. I don't label them as family friendly or violent and pornographic. One other quick point...people say that video games are worse than movies because it's you controlling the killing and sexual activity...but take a movie like, The Punisher. The protaganist is a murderous psychopath who believes in nothing but vengeance! That person, becames a hero, nay, an idol to people watching that movie! It's not the same, but I think they are equally bad. This world's fucked up, people. You just gotta look after your own, fuck what everyone else is doing. If you don't want the game, then don't buy it. Leave us alone. I'm through.

You know, it's kind of amusing to see so many people upset about this. Anyone who likes foreign films sees them time and again edited down for R-rated American wide releases at the threat of an NC-17 rating, only to be released on DVD in their original forms. It's just the way any rating system works. It's a little silly, sure--but unfortunately, nobody else is putting forth a better system. But I suppose a knee-jerk emotional response, throwing around the word "censorship" like it's actually going on, accomplishes a great deal more. Nobody's saying they can't release it; Take-Two just won't make as much money on it as they otherwise would. I believe that's the consequence of having "artistic" integrity.
