I'm not interested in playing cross-platform. There are enough 360 owners that it doesn't make much difference...although it's interesting that Valve is doing this.

As a side note, from a writing style standpoint, I hate when bloggers start their articles with, "So,..." Using "so" to start your article is totally unnecssary.

It kind of makes sense. KB/Mouse gamers would be handing console players thiers asses match after match. Why oh why can't they add KB/Mouse support for shooters on the 360?

because if they do, you may as well call the 360 a computer

I'm getting sick of developers not using this, and stupid selfish fanboys defending and agreeing with them. You know what? I hate you all.

Don't any of you fucking game for fun at all? AT FUCKING ALL?
I have some buddies that don't game on consoles, but game on PCs, and I want to fucking play games with them online, but I can't, due to this competitive cock pradling attitude by some of you assholes, and some of these developers.

What's wrong with a disclaimer saying that using a controller would put you at a disadvantage, and having Console only, PC only, and Mixed servers optional? Problems solved. But no. That's too much effort, and god forbid the idea of playing just to have fun enter into the mindset of you competitive minded jerks.

You should probably chill out there Otis. Valve said it was more problems than its worth. I would imagine there is a bit of upkeep on their end. So relax, and specifically look for games that tout cross-platform play.

I would think cheating would be a bigger issue than any controller advantage. Don't PC gamers usually have access to about a zillion mods and cheats?

I agree with #4, minus some hostility of course...

I've been hoping for months that TF2 would allow cross platform play, and this news stings a bit. I was a PC Gamer long before I became a 360 fanboy, and as such I own copies of Half-Life 2 and Episode One for PC already. I don't really want to re-purchase these games for the 360 just to get TF2... but my Live friends list is MUCH larger than my Xfire list.

Now I'm faced with a dilemma, do I pick up the Orange Box, double dip a couple of games, and abandon Half-Life 2 for the PC so I can play TF2 with my friends on Live? Or do I stick it out on the PC and save some scratch, plus have a shiny new game for my PC but miss out playing with my Gears crew? Ugh.

Is there a petition we can sign or something to request Valve put cross-platform play in the final release?

I've found I absolutely destroy PC users on Shadowrun. The Mouse/Keyboard advantage is crippled by the measures added to DECREASE mouse accuracy. Not only that, there are some problems in cross-platform games. Generally PC users seem to lag more (they're almost always running background tasks, which on slower PC's can delay their responses), and you can't mute them!

I was playing a game with a guy who had the worst echo ever. It essentially amplified your voice and added a squeeling feedback to it. You couldn't see him on the recent players list as he's a Vista user, and thus couldn't mute him.

What in the nine hells does this have to do with growing up?
I had the same opinion on the same issue.. and just pasted the damned thing because I'm lazy!

Since when does laziness describe maturity!?

I would certainly hope there's no cross-platform play. That would mean Valve had abandoned Steam and went GFWL.

It would also suck against the keyboard/mouse combo... and if they nerfed it I would not be happy.

Otis, re-read your brilliant post and then come back and tell us all again about how mature you are.
