Much of the combat takes place through night vision goggles, and a visible laser shoots out from your gun to the turret -- when you see a wall of laser sights shoot out from flanking buildings, you get a feel for the atmosphere developers Infinity Ward are going for. Video embedded above.

Oh my, I cannot believe that is in-game graphics. That is really impressive for pre-alpha. I can't wait to play this game when it comes out, or even the demo if there is one made available in the future for the PC. And, hopefully by then, I will have a computer that can handle this game (and Spore).

Does it seem like game visuals are actually reaching close to the quality of the hated Killzone 2 CGI movie? And is this too out in 2007, how will anyone get time to play all those shooters

This looks really good can't wait for it to come out. So far it looks like that they transitioned the Call of Duty series very well from WW II to the modern day.

Wow, I didn't have any interest in any of the other CoD's, but this looks awesome. I'll definitely keep my eye on this!

I love Call of Duty. It's just such a solid, realistic, enjoyable, no frills shooter. The fact that they are taking it out of WWII and into the modern era is exactly what makes this title even more irresistible. :)
Can't wait.

I think that by the next 5 years, we will be seeing some elements close to the CGI seen in the Killzone trailer but we have to remember that the animation will never be as fluid.

Never say never. I doubt people playing the NES back in the day ever dreamed a game would look anything like this. It only takes time.

Eh, I'm not a fan of night vision. I mean, I don't mind it. I'd just rather not have the game focus on it.
Also, night vision detracts from the visuals. With graphics and lighting that good, I wouldn't want to change it by making everything bright green.
Just an opinion. Everything else looks awesome.

I wouldn't watch the gamevideos trailer, instead download the HD version off of GameTrailers.com, it's quite nice...

First thing I thought of was the Killzone CGI. I doubt that game will look any better than this, too.

Didn't anyone tell you? Next Gen is BROWN.
In all seriousness it looks great, but the effects take a major hit with NV on, probably because the darkness helps hide some worse rendered stuff.

I can agree with you lads that the night vision takes away from the nifty graphics and effects but if that's how modern combat happens, and to be fair I did happen to see a lot of night vision footage during the Iraq conflict, then it's hard to criticise them on it. As well, there will more than likely be a load of daylight assaults too.

man imagine this gets an AO rating cause its "current events shown in realistic fashion"? esrb says " oh well its our american soldiers are able to be killed in combat and we cant do that because is distasteful and wrong and immoral."
game gets axed.
awesome looking game though

yeah that would be hella creepy but it's not like this is the first game to show american soldiers (battlefield 2, conflict: desert storm, full spectrum warrior, america's army, to name a few). it doesn't even take place in iraq.

14. What?
Can't wait. It's gonna be the best FPS ever made. (Unless they screw up the controls.)

Brian, I highly doubt that, but the game does look good.
On the matter of these graphics approaching Killzone2 CGI, I would say no to that. The Killzone CGI was well beyond this. It will be hard for games to look that good and maintain a realistic budget, even if the processing power is available. Just how crisp and clean all the animations were, all at the same time, and how everything just came together perfect. Won't happen.
Crysis doesn't even look as good as Killzone2, and it is graphically beyond what either PS3 or 360 will ever be able to do.
God I still laugh at how I actually believed the Sony hype train all the way until their launch, basically. I only bought a 360 because my HDTV was lonely waiting for PS3 to come home and Oblivion and GRAW were there for it. Now the system I wanted is out and I can't see why I need to pay $600 for it when I have the 360 to play. Oh well, I'll get it someday.

You know what pissed me off? Last summer, I was in the US with my cousin for vacation and we wanted to buy a game for our good old Xbox.
The point is, Halo 2 and Unreal Championship was rated M whereas Ghost Recon 2 was rated T. Both of us being minors, we had to settle for the latter.

Well wouldnt want to to get into the old 360-PS3 deabte - but my point was, the Killzone CGI graphics were being derided as being totally false and unfeasible, but it seems like we we will soon see a level almost close to that level on most top games...does add to the fun factor. And I think the graphics on Killzone and most of the other games out in the next year will be like Motorstorm - not as good as the CGI but still pretty awesome

Wow that's just stunning. I love all the dozens of laser pointers in the distance when the night vision goggles are on.

you dont have to wait 5 years, just wait for Crysis and you will see that we are getting closer and closer not to CGI but something more advance; am talking about Hollywood movies grahics rendering Crysis will be a photorealistic game that will make you say WOOOOOW is this real humans or computer animation........
!BTW call of duty 4 looks beatiful.......
