Give me a stable, feature rich OS anyday over shiny new games. That's what I bought a console for

Feature rich...thats rich...Mac OS is like the AOL of operating systems...the less control you give the mac users the better off they are.

Uh, OSX is a full Unix variant. It certainly has a ton of more features than most OSes out there right now. Have you tried OSX Lite yet?..I mean Vista. Sorry.

Yea especially since there is no "Allow" or "Deny" like vista... Oh and did i mention some of the source code for OS X is available too. Yup if there is one OS that is like AOL that would be Windows.
Get your facts right Shagittarius, because being a windows fanboy kinda sucks...
On a second note i have PC games working natively on my Mac, like BF2 and 2142, NFS Carbon, and i even had C&C 3 on it too. I used Cadgea witch can be found pre-compiled at insanelymac.com. Its basicly a fork of Wine, witch was turned into WineX and then developped into a version for games called Cadgea. So give me any recent game and i can get almost any on the Mac.

Speaking of Engadget they just added a feature so you can filter out all the apple articles if you want to. Pure Genius!
Maybe joystiq should make a way to filter out all of the Wii articles if you want to.

you know i always thought, Joystiq is such a console fanboy war I love how at least its never mac vs pc, since macs dont have games (other than Blizzard love)
it appears gamefly is going to ruin that tranquility.
will there be tomb raider legend and other "showoff" PC games MS is trying to push?

I love how mac users always tell you they can run windows on their mac.
then... why use a mac? because you like paying 2x more for a computer in exchant for one less mouse button, slightly better graphic art stuff, and supposedly fewer crashes?

Wow, Shagi. So let's see here...you have an irrational hatred of Nintendo. An irrational hatred of Apple...
You really hate good stuff, don't you?
I bet you also drink boxed wine, hate puppies and kittens and drive an American car.

samfish, I never attack specific people on joystiq...groups of people sure, but never specific people, that I can remember...well most of the time I dont anyways.
Why do I hate Mac and Nintendo...maybe beacuse their fans have an irrational, uninformed, unevolved, view of certain companies thats not grounded anywhere in truth.
I've been approached in a restaurant minding my own business by Mac users who overheard my conversation telling me I should get a PC. Yet they don't know the first thing about computers or their mac...these are stupid people and they make up the majority of mac fans.
Same goes for Nintendo, just browse the PS3 section in your local store and count the seconds it takes for some Wiitard to come up and tell you the Nintendo is better.
I don't like the Mac cause I'm first and foremost a gamer, the same reason I dont like the Wii, it doesn't offer the gaming experience I want...but my brtual hatred towards the companies comes entirely from their fan base.

Look in the mirror if you really think that, Chief. Perception is everything.
I've never ever ever ever had any of those nightmare situations you mentioned occur to me, either.
I HAVE, however, had people become angry or show contempt towards ME for being a vegetarian and admitting to having a preference towards Nintendo and Apple.
And don't get me wrong, either – I've NEVER in my life told someone who does eat meat, like Windows or Playstation that they're 'wrong'. Nor do I know anyone like that.
I casually mention it or only admit it if it's drug out of me. And then it's, "WHAT?! Oh god – how can you not eat meat?!/like Nintendo/I don't like Apple (even though I've never used one)"
In my experience, it's folks who are in the majority who behave dickishly towards those of us in the 'minority'.
And box wine is great...just don't...like, pull it out on a date or anything :p

I'm sure Sony people sure are bitter over all those Gamecube owners ripping on the PS2!

My girlfriends sister is a vegetarian and every oportunity she gets she slams the meat eaters...so it must be the vocal minority that screws it up for the normal people like you fish.
Since this is joystiq though I am obligated to make a dig at you...
Why don't you eat meat? The human body is designed to eat flesh. Maybe if meat had waggle controls you'd be into it.

I thought the gamecube was the best platform last generation for me. Until the last couple years of last gen it was the only platform that offered a great deal of games I couldn't get on PC.
I don't like the Wiimote though so its not nintendo this generation, and both PS3, and Microsoft are doing better at providing exclusives this time around. Although I think it has more to do with the PC being less supported than it use to be.

Shagi, where do you live dude? I must say I have never been approached by any wiifans here, and I'm always browsing games at big and little stores alike. I feel sorry for you if the fans of everything you hate are somehow drawn to you. Maybe it's your "I hate apple, nintendo & vegetarians" t-shirt. Honestly, who cares what products people are using in their own homes? Look, I'm an apple fan..wait, before you go hating me too, I became an apple fan cuz I used both PC and Mac and (I know I'm way out of line for saying this but), I ended up liking the mac more. I'm sorry! And based on your first and fourth post, You seem to be doing what you complain gets done to you. So close Internet Explorer and play your little game quietly.

There is no question about it. Mac OSX kick the sh*t out of Vista.
I can remember half the features of Vista appearing in Mac OSX 10.3, let alone 10.4 (must be nearly all, if not all).
Microsoft is not a very personal company, they dont implement cool features because they're always into the business crap.
So there you go. Its agreed Mac OSX owns Vista.
.. well and truly.

Speaking of irrational hatred why do people continuously have to say that there are absolutely no games on the Mac before these kind of announcements? There are games and not just from Blizzard either. There's just not as many as on Windows that's all and it has slown down in the past year or so because of the transition to intel and having to support two architectures. Some people where saying that id software is coming back to the mac despite the fact that most of the games running on their engines to date have come to the Mac including all the doom 3 engine games and all announced id tech games.

It just seems as though these comments come from those who buy computers for gaming, ONLY. not that there's anything wrong with it. I love gaming as much as the next guy, but on my "computer" (either PC or Mac) I estimate about 30% percent of time spent on games as apposed to work and other stuff (like posting here). Plus, that's what I spent money on my consoles for.and keep spending.
Add to that the "hater dynamic", made possible by people who MUST chose a side in every discussion, claim it as the holy truth, and declare war on any who disagree. This is not directed at anyone in particular

THe sole thing I enjoy about OS fanboy wars is the futile attempt of the Windows clan to defend their choice by using its one pro, video games, whereas the Jobsians are chatting off a huge list of superior features that OS X holds.
Just an observation.

Ok! This is the bottom line. OS X owns windoze of any breed or model.
Reasoning behind my statment:
1) OS X has an integrated X11 api: You can run all your favorite linux software natively.
2) It's a timeshare os: Everything runs faster ( even it's slightly limited selection of games )
3) OPEN GL: The open source standard. DX10 is crap in comparison.
4) Stability: It's unix.
5) Intuitive user interface.
The bottom line is that windoze has a long history of instability, and for that matter Microsoft's buisiness ethics are far from tasteful.

Plain and simple,
Most games (including console) are developed on Macs. Mac users just aren't interested in cluttering up their hard drives with games (because they have more important things to do like count their money from making the games) and MS pays for exclusive rights so no one even bothers to release mac versions very often.
