Sony clarifies 380 PS3 games comment; 145 for US

After yesterday's announcement that 380 new games would be available for the PlayStation 3 this fiscal year, more than a few of us quickly ran out of fingers trying to make the math work out. Lucky for us, the fine folks at Sony stopped GamesIndustry.biz before they got their shoes off (it was too late for us), explaining that Sony's Kaz Hirai was "citing international figures" and that "at least 145 titles are on the way to the US," with 105 of those being retail offerings. That makes a lot more sense ... but we're still left wondering one thing. Does Warhawk count as both a retail and PlayStation Network title?

Any Mario game is way better than any current PS3 game... and Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3 and Smash Bros will be better and will sell a lot more than any PS3 title.

40 of those are downloadable games. Some of those retail boxes include multiple versions such as special editions. No word on how many will be pushed back / canceled, or on how many are exclusive.

NONE of them can ONLY be done on the PS3.

Wow, big surprise. And Sony wasn't really lying, at least based on the writeup, but you can't blame them for counting all global titles to make sure things looked better than they really are for the Sony camp.

What is the use of 145 games, when PC will probably get 300 games this year, including homebrew and original IPs?

PC has:
motion control: via hacked wiimote or 360 controller
internets: check
wifi: check
multiplayer: hell, it has MASSIVE multi
graphics: you bet ur lollerskates it does

I dont think anyone believed that 40 games were going to come out every month until next March. This was even clarified on AOTS last night. 16 games a month/4 games a week makes more sense anyway.

for motion controls u need to buy a console part
and sure the graphics are better as long as you have the 1500$ to make it top notch.
fine the pc will get 300 games but maybe 10 that you actually want to play regulaly.and alot of them wont take advantage of your super pc and look like crap.i cant think of 1 home brew game that ive played longer than a day.and i dont like CS =/

Yeah, but PC's are for geeks with zero social skills that game alone and never get ass. They hate consoles because the kids that picked on them and banged the chicks they thought were hot all played consoles. ;) (this is a flamewar, right?)

On topic, whatever the numbers don't really mean anything. Sony is going to release more games its second year. Of course they are!

I am just waiting for a title that tells me "you couldn't do that with a 360." So far, the titles that have most impressed me are all on or coming to 360! The only PS3 title dropping this year that I consider "must have" is Unreal III. And where are the rpg's? All the PS3 has coming are shooters and overhyped meh titles that have blown us away with CGI. (still a flamewar, right?)

As for the Wii, when is the next kids game coming out? My nephew, who I will admit is about 10 and growing out of his Wii phase like any normal kid would, might still enjoy some cartoony characters with a plot similar to a typical film aimed towards 5 - 11 year old children. (still flaming?)

Oh yeah, and 360. WTF? Talk about a console that takes all your money. Could you stop releasing so many badass games so I can pay some bills? If you have a 360, burn that piece of crap if it hasn't burned itself already. 5+ big budget RPG's and 5+ big budget shooters in a 4 month span is getting a little friken ridiculous. How about you pull a Nintendo and release some kiddy-ass low budget crap so we can keep our wallets closed for a while?

Well, back to my project of building a console that playes AO games only. You control it with your weemote. It's the future of gaming.

Anyone else notice how many copies of Big Brain Academy are still on the shelves everywhere you go? Something tells me its not selling as well as the big N thought it would.

how many of these will be quality exclusives though? That's what's holding the ps3 back, not just a lack of games. Shoveling out tons of titles that can be played on the cheaper 360 won't help sell consoles.
