Today's chowiest video: John Woo and Chow Yun-Fat in Stranglehold
So, you know how developers say things like, "Oh yes, Steven Spielberg was very involved in the development of this game" when what they actually mean is "Yeah, we sent a fax to his office and showed him a picture." We've been wondering if that's how involved John Woo and Chow Yun-Fat were with Midway's Stranglehold.
Here's video evidence to quell our fears that John Woo's involvement was simply sending a smiley-face emoticon to the development team when they asked him for feedback. Plus, seeing Chow (Mr. Yun-Fat? Fat? CYF?) recording lines for the game and sitting in meetings warms the slow-motion, dove-filled cockles of our hearts.

I'm not a fan of shooters or action games like these but this is full of asians and it has Chow Yun-Fat; I love this guy! And not because he was in Pirates 3, hes just an awsome actor.
First comment woo!

Gonna have to give this one a look see. That is, if I have time between all these other games. D:

This whole "next-gen shininess" is getting annoying.

Looks good. I'l prolly get the PS3 version just because of the hard-boiled extra.

Not that I don't think this game looks great but, I wonder what Mr Kelly actually means. You think the game designers have a better feel and imagination to John Woo's character and style than John Woo? If that was true Movies wouldn't need directors, I really hope John Woo had a hand in it more than just smiling and signing release forms or the game will just be some suckyng shooter like most.
Look at the darkness game, if you read the comic you will probably quite disappointed, from demos it doesn't look like it is going to come close to the feel of the character. Oh they got the mobster with guns part right, and that is as far as they went. I am not going to comment any more about the darkness since I haven't played it yet, but yeah I hope they didn't go off their own heads when making Stranglehold.

Oh wow that looks awesome.
It looks like an environmentally interactive Max Payne. Personally, I can't get enough of slow motion fight scenes. Though it's just as fun when the action's going faster than the bullets from your guns.
This game has been really under my radar, but wow. Looks great.

Two things:
One, if the first poster up there was NOT being sarcastic, then the Earth is doomed.
Two; am I the only one that noticed that shotguns do not, in fact, shoot flares? They propel fragmented pieces of LEAD, not FIREWORKS. Anyways, the game looks really lame. "Oh, there seems to be a conveniently placed serving cart right here. I'm going to hit the 'dive dramatically' button and ride it! Wee! my character animation is sub-par!"
Just because a big-name director is involved, people will buy it and be disappointed, realizing finally that these guys are good at making movies and not overseeing game projects.

Harold: Chow Yun-Fat just stole my car.
Officer Palumbo: Hey! CYF wouldn't do that, 'ight!

@7: you say you have two things to say, yet you have three. i mean come on buddy.
i own both the killer and hard boiled. that "conveniently placed serving cart," guns that are never reloaded and all the other ridiculousness in those movies are what made the films cult classics. so who cares if shotgun shoots "fireworks". i mean shit, how real is any game or movie? is that not why we play or watch them? i can't say the game is going to be amazing but who can? from what i see it looks good so why knock it without playing it? we could all take your word for it, assume that it's going to suck, but why would we? you can't even get the opening line of your post straight.

O damn! This should come out on the Wii!

A small lesson in Chinese.
He would be Mr. Chow. Yun Fat is his "first" name. Chinese names are usually family name first. Yao Ming is Mr. Yao. And Zhang Zi Yi is Miss Zhang. Well, that is until she decided to make her name in America Ziyi Zhang. But now you know why she did that.
Okay, thread-jacking over. Carry on.
