Maybe because its on DVD the 360 version is more profitable to the publishers/developers so they have done this to encourage people who own both systems to by the more profitable 360 version

As I think many others would, I'd like to know the cause of the delay. Either way, I guess one benefit to owning a PS3 is avoiding the region lock on games. Come to think of it, that's quite sweet.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, something fishy is going on with European PS3 games getting delayed. First Oblivion, then Spiderman 3 and now The Darkness. All within one week of release before delay. The 360 version of this game is coming out in Europe this week, the PS3 version in the US isn't getting delayed. Something is not right here.

Euro PS3 owners, JUST import it if you don't want to wait, Not that you need me to tell you, but PS3 is region-free.

although I can't see this game being import-worthy anyway.

kingofwale - "Games running on 60FPS is the FUTURE."

Games have been running at those speeds since, like, Quake III, before even. There were plenty of games running at 60FPS last gen. Get your facts straight.

Europe is more than just the UK. The US version does not include the French, German, Italian and Spanish language tracks.

It should be noted that Microsoft only requires one global submission to approve new games for their consoles, while games for the playstation are evaluated individually by SCEA, SCEE and SCEJ. It is rumored that SCEE is a lot more anal in the approval process than SCEA so it is likely that the delayed games were approved in the US but failed Euro submission.

Saint: There are some truly awful Euro-only PS2 games, so I don't think SCEE is more stringent. If anything, they're much more lenient about approving crap. Look at the true horrors that this guy has been documenting: http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=InfernalMonkey

bVork, that might be. The quality of the QA isn't that important, really, just the fact that EU submission is handled separately by Sony and not by Microsoft should give a big hint as to why it is possible for a game to be delayed in EU only for Playstation, but not for Xbox 360.

That being said, I don't think crap games being Euro-only has anything to do with how stringent they are on submission. If the games were intended for US release, I find it very hard to believe that the publishers would give up access to the biggest market instead of just fixing the bugs reported in submission. The submission testing doesn't really cover the 'quality' of the game anyway, as long as it doesn't crash and interfaces with the user/hardware in the way the console manufacturer intended, you're good to go.
