Definitely increased my hype for this game. Knowing that this was just a BETA, just a small fraction of what we will get to play in the final build and that this doesn't look nearly as polished as it will just makes me smile and realize how great this game will be.

Add in the fact that we haven't even seen footage of the campaign yet, and I can't wait for September 25th!

I've never been especially hyped about this game. I might pick it up in the new year when I can get it second hand. Give me GTA4 & Half Life 2 Orange Box any day of the week.

It actually made me like playing games online!!! I can't wait for Halo 3 and I think the BETA only made people want it more... not to mention the fact that we haven't seen ANYTHING of the story side!

Besides... a BETA is designed to make the game better... the input from all the Halo fans several months before the release of the game is PRICELESS!

I'm in the same boat as Jonah (#3). I was uber hyped before the Beta came out. In fact I'd say I was hyped to a point where it would have been unsustainable until Sep 25th so the Beta came out at the perfect time to quench that Halo hunger but to still leave me with a feeling of wanting more.
As the release date gets nearer I'm sure the hype level will start to increase again. In fact it may happen at E3 depending on what they decide to show us. For now the Beta helped cool things off, but I think that's a good thing.

Beta eased the hype for me, but still made me want the game more...so yea...i've even caught myself thinking of preordering the legendary edition! :O

anyways...I can't wait for this game to come out so i can tackle the campaign in 4-player co-op glory, and to tackle all those online achievements too!

I went from just playing it because I had crackdown to ordering the heroic, purchasing Halos 1 and 2, spending late nights reading backstory at Halo Wikis, and anxiously awaiting the end of countdowns for Iris. No, it crafted an enthusiast here, I've got to make general.

I didn't play the beta much , since I didn't want to wear out H3 when it came out. But it's not going to change my life or anything - I like Halo's campaigns typically - especially co-op - have fond memories of Legendary Halo1 co-op.

call me old fashioned but i didn't touch the beta and decided to wait for the offical realease date. although i considered it, i thought back to when H2 was realeased and how excited i was up to lining up at the local future shop @ 10 PM and calling in sick the next day to play. I feel these days it's hard to avoid hype of anything with demos and game videos being made available on XBL and game footage being leaked on youtube. The fact that I have to go out of my way to avoid any spoilers makes the official release date for games even more sweet.

Like the Mountain Dew Game Fuel thats coming in August.... thats a PR stunt if Ive ever seen one but you bet I will try some, LOL.

there are still tons of people that didn't get to play the Halo3 beta, not to mention a lot of people will be buying 360s when Halo 3 comes out. Regardless, I am sure Microsoft will be able to push plenty of hype for it over the next few months.

Beta got pretty boring for me, same maps with a couple of game types. I guess my heart belongs to Gears of War ATM.

I am going to buy this on 9/25, can not wait to finish the story! Hope it has CO-OP though, I enjoy playing CO-OP with my brothers over Live.

I think public beta's are a bad idea. People will play the beta and say its not worth $60 or they will play it and have an advantage for a couple weeks on the people who didn't. In the case of Halo this doesn't really apply because people still want to buy it for offline modes and it is really similar to the 2nd one.

There's still another few months to build up more hype and clearly they'll be releasing more information, images and such about both the multi and single player components. I don't think any impressions now are going to matter when the time comes.

I mention how many days until release at least once a day. I also dug up my copy of Halo 2 because I enjoy Halo multiplayer so much.

I love Gears and all but I'm really bad at it. I don't understand how my point blank shotgun blast misses the target while a guy not even facing me blasts me to kingdom come. The more I play Gears multiplayer I don't seem to get any better at it...just more angry.

With the Halo 3 Beta I noticed that even though I hadn't played Halo 2 in over a year, within a few hours I was really starting to play well again. I get more out of that because it's more enjoyable to me.

Personally I wish they had a multiplayer demo come out here in a couple of weeks just to get me buy until the full release.

Well, they may be showing 'a lot' of the multiplayer, but they haven't said much of anything about the single player side of things. I'm sure the graphics will be like those promised.

The Beta was just as expected, the single player is what I'm excited about.

I actually got tired of the beta after the first 2 weeks. Hopefully it provided Bungie with lots of useful information though.

Still looking forward to playing the single player campaign, and will probably be getting my hands on my copy in September. I played through the first 2 Halos on the original 'box, so I'm looking forward to see where the story goes!

Hyped though? Not really. Maybe it's some kind of emotional defect I have or something, but I can wait for a game. I don't care too much if I have to wait until Christmas - I was hyped for Forza 2 and haven't even gone out and bought it yet!

Honestly, Halo (and a slew of other titles and changes to the industry) has killed my interest in gaming quite a bit. I now look at games in the store and say "Meh."

I used to live and breathe gaming, but I'm getting sick of such limited imagination in the field. Sick of FPS games all being the same tired story (lone soldier against the horde of villains) or being geared toward online play (teams of juveniles shooting at each other and swearing loudly into the microphone). I got sick of the imbalance of influence Japanese style has had on gaming. Can we please stop getting games about ninjas, feudal Japan, samurai, marital arts tournaments, or other such cliches? Can we please stop having games where the whole point is to beat some boss at the end of each stage, with a mega-boss at the end of the game?

I miss the old days. I'm getting old, apparently, but all I'm seeing coming from publishers and developers these days are rip-offs of older titles, tired rehashes of the same old themes, and no innovation whatsoever.

Making all the old games high definition hasn't made them better. Making them work with motion-control doesn't change them much. Changing the lead character from a ninja who is in search of his lost soul to a vampire who is rescuing the princess doesn't make a difference either. I don't give a crap about game designers' lame manga-level storytelling skills.

What happened to games that are FUN and CHALLENGING?

I'm just so sick of the industry being run into the ground like this. EA has almost killed gaming, and Sony hasn't done anything to help it. Microsoft/Bungie are guilty of just going to the well too many times. Square/Enix can't do ANYTHING original anymore.

It won't be long before every game is just Army Men, Halo, Generic racing or off-road tracing, or Final Fantasy with different skins on the characters, and a different bullshiat storyline to keep the kiddies interested for a few seconds.

Gaming has become infused with a lot of talentless people who aren't fit to shine Paul Reiche III's, David Crane's, or Lord British's shoes (among others).

Personally, I think Halo 3 is going to be the beginning of the end for gaming. It will sell like hotcakes, and this will tell the industry that they can continue to just phone it in, polish up the graphics a bit, add a couple new items/weapons, and call it a whole new game and make a profit.

I really enjoyed the beta as it proved to me that Bungie had taken active measures to improve and balance multiplayer.

My "hype" for this game has remained the same. It will increase as we get closer to 9/25/07 and more single player points are leaked out.

I just hope that the modding community doesn't hack the 360 before then. I really hate them when it comes to "fair" online gaming.

Zero, What would you come up with for an innovative idea? propose something to a developer and live your dream. I would pay for something innovatie and new as well. Maybe we could give you feedback on here. I def agree with some of your comments.

@30: You obviously don't have Viva Pinata or Rayman Raving Rabbids. There are plenty of original games out there, but I do agree that the games industry is getting more like the movie industry: less willing to take risks because they know they can make bigger profits selling people the same stuff year-on-year!

Personally, I want the game even more, I wasn't going to not buy it even if I didn't like the Beta. Now, I'm actually worried that if I go to reserve it now, if I'll even be able to get it on launch day. I know that I won't be able to walk in on launch day to buy it, I have to preorder it. I'm worried if there will be enough copies for every person that preorders it, plus a few for the people that didn't. Or just the preorders...

BTW whats with people complaining about paying $60 for Halo 3 when here in the UK we are talking £50 (about $100) for the standard version (£60 for limited edition and £70 for legendary according to my local Game). The EU has complained about Apples iTunes pricing so now they can do something about game pricing.
