Does Video Games Live! have something similar?

Very cool. Though could the guy have used some antiperspirant. The pit stains seriously grossed me out in that photo.

I don't want to be a downer, but 8Bit bands playing Nintendo music are a dime a dozen these days. Every town has one it seems. Personally I like the Konami Code by the Gothsicles.

They may be a dime a dozen, but Ninja Gaiden (along wiht NG 2 & 3) feature the best music in any NES games, ever. No arguments are permitted.

So at least they have good taste.

I thought it was cool. But I'm starting to get tired of EVERYONE doing something related to 8-bit games. Music, art, tshirts, etc. I love the 8-bit era, but the overuse of nostalgia is starting to wear thin.

It was a great performance; there was so much energy in the audience, the small venue was filled far beyond capacity (200+ people in a 112 limit bar). It was hands-down the best show I saw this weekend.

Yeah but the difference is that these guys (Cinemechanica) are a proper band, with a record deal in their own right and do this for fun on the side, they aren't just some local cover band. They are way way tighter and more professional than most of those other guys. I've only seen them twice now (once doing Contra and then this show, haven't seen megaman yet) but honestly they are awesome.

this is awesome! i wish stuff like this went on in so.ca. All we have are the silly emo bands with the funny bangs over one eye. and to #2, mike..being in a band myself...i know that no antiperspirant in the world is going to stop you from sweating if you are a good performer on stage. You will be covered in sweat by the end of the show!
